Opeth - Bridge Of Sighs Lyrics

[x2]
Sun don't shine
The moon don't move
The tides to wash me clean

Why so unforgiving
And why so cold
Been a long time crossing
The bridge of sighs

[x2]
Cold wind blows
And the gods look down
In anger of this poor child

Why so unforgiving
And why so cold
Been a long time crossing
The bridge of sighs

  2. K.... H....

    Opeth Rules!

  3. x.... ....

Never heard the original, but I will. Sounds pretty Pink Floyd-ish, have a feeling I might like the artist.

Wooow! excitante e.e Opeth te amo

  9. N.... T....

Corey Taylor needs to add this to his covers setlist

  10. K.... K....

Can somebody tab THIS version with the solo? I love this solo man. Sucks there wasnt one in the original. But Trower wrote it without. So be it 💁🏻‍♂️

  11. C.... L....

Robin Trower smiles every time this plays

  12. T.... A....

wow this is Pink Floyd level of epicness

  13. S.... E....

Man..he should sing like this more often

  14. I.... t....

Bridge of sighs intro reminds me of the necromancer by Rush

  15. R.... S....

Helluva cover. Sometimes an artist can take a cover and just own that shit. I have not been fully on board with Opeth yet but I am intrigued for sure. After hearing this and a few other songs makes me want to dig into some more of their music.

  16. S.... A....

A friend of mine just told me about this. Amazing cover. These guys really covered it well.

  17. M.... M....

    Covered with Honor.....

  18. D.... P....

I came here an unbeliever. I Believe.

  19. J.... H....

This was FAR better than I expected.

  20. M.... P....

As a Robin Trower fan (my first live concert) my hats off to Opeth!

  21. P.... C....

    "Oşpicăl me"

  22. O.... 1....

    Perfect 🤘

  23. B.... M....

Buddy of mine told me to look this up, since I hold the Robin Trower version up as rock gospel. I was skeptical, but Opeth did it justice. Pretty badass cover.

  24. G.... C....

I wonder if there will come a day when I will have had enough of Opeth. Damn geniuses. 💜

  25. P.... ....

Mikael really reached his peak as a vocalist on Watershed. You can tell he was reaching the end of the line on his death screams because he was using a lot of effects to take it to new places (not that his screams were bad, they were great, but notice his use of flange effects and swirling echoes; he was running out of ideas for it I think). But his clean vocal skills were clearly far beyond anything that came before, even Ghost Reveries. Contrast this hard blues style with his powerful belting on Burden and his falsetto croon on Den ständiga resan. I can understand why he left the screams behind. I still hope they return again, however. He's just too damn good at it to not come back to it at some point.

  26. A.... B....

This song is right behind burden....

  27. T.... M....

Thank you for paying due dignity to this immortal song! Namaste!

  28. J.... W....

This is the background music for when heroine enters the party.......

  29. J.... L....

So incredible. It's the same as the original, hard to tell the two apart.

  30. O.... F....

    Herregud, det är skitkul

  31. c.... ....

An excellent cover, coming close to equaling the original!

  32. T.... H....

Only Opeth could pull this off so perfectly.

  33. T.... R....

I must say that these guys did an amazing job covering this song. This is by far the best rendition of the song that I've heard yet.

  34. D.... a....

So, so, so much better than the original, in every possible way!

  35. A.... C....

but this is in a deluxe version o somethig?

  36. D.... D....

Ok just crawled out from under a rock...you kidding me with that? Kickass, best tune I've heard in a long while.

  37. w.... p....

    Well Done !

  38. L.... M....

cool they tuned their instruments a whole step down to play (and sing) this. sounds pretty edgy, although the guitar tone is not exactly perfect yet

  39. L.... M....

wasn't expecting Opeth to cover this. they did pretty well though

  40. C.... ....

As a hard core, die hard fan of all things Robin Trower and Jim Dewar..I feel dirty for loving this so much!

  41. P.... N....

    excelente!!!

  42. J.... ....

Bit gutted that this was never pressed onto a vinyl release of Watershed. Would have sounded fantastic.

  43. V.... N....

Usually when I visit cover videos on Youtube, the comment wars rage, but I was pleasantly surprised when I visited this one. Hats off to Opeth for paying their respect to an awesome piece, and hats off to you folks who can keep it civil and welcoming. Truly!

    V.... N....

A good band having a good time remembering another good band.

  44. A.... G....

I just want that solo to go on forever

  45. J.... C....

from my experience with OPETH,i believe they can cover any song and nail it😉!!!they are so in Harmony and kickass as amazing musicians.they are in my favorites selection of music....

  46. C.... N....

    Why so unforgiving-
    and why so cold;
    been a long crossing-
    Bridge of Sighs.

    C.... N....

    Been a long TIME crossing...

  47. A.... ....

    Balinalardan selam var

    A.... ....

    Balina? Tarikat felan mısınız 😂

  48. D.... L....

This song never fails to put my into a state of flight of the mind... love the original, love this one too!

  49. D.... L....

    however this is
    nott'! the original
    Robin Trower!!

  50. D.... L....

lived this song in a tough town.. fort St. James 1970's.. seen death 'n'sadness!!

  51. G.... S....

Epic cover from epic person.. :)

  52. S.... ....

Still prefer the original, but a good cover none the less.

  53. G.... O....

This just made my day. Two of my favorite bands ever and I had no idea about this. Any idea where this came from?

    G.... O....

It was a bonus track on some Watershed edition

  54. D.... F....

This is the first time Ive ever heard this song and within the first few lines I imagined Phil Anselmo singing this for some reason lol!!!

    D.... F....

This is actually a cover of Robin Trower's song. You should check it out.

    D.... F....

Look up Down and Hellfest 2013 and you`ll see him and the rest of Down playing it:)

  55. E.... C....

    superb 😊

  56. m.... ....

omfg I did not this song existed outside of Robin Trower in a studio version........ a good friend just showed me....... fuck eh man......

  57. C.... T....

I really respect Opeth for their musicianship. They can play incredibly well, and can obviously sing well when they want to. I just can't get into the cookie monster vocals they do.

    C.... T....

I agree about the vocals on the earlier stuff. Their new tunes are fucking insane. Love it

    C.... T....

Lmao I've never heard someone refer to metal screaming as cookie monster vocals. That's pretty funny. I used to hate metal screaming when I started listening to metal in middle school. All the way up until I graduated high school I would just listen to metal for the music and try to ignore the vocals. After a while the vocals grew on me and I actually like them now. It's weird. Anyway, I totally get where you're coming from.

    C.... T....

I love Opeth but I love the cookie monster comparison. Will certainly make for a good chuckle next time I listen to their older albums.

    C.... T....

Yes, the irony being that he has such a beautiful voice...which I too prefer

  58. A.... ....

Hi, I don't understand, in Watershed, these song don't appear : Derelict Herds
    Bridge of Sighs
    Den ständiga resan

I have a "limited" 2LP of Watershed, and as a Fan since years, I was very surpriced by the start of Derelicts Herds when I first played this LP... but Bridge of Sighs and Den Ständiga Resan aren't in these 2LP... where are they ? in wich version ? please help me !

    A.... ....

Not sure. I know that these were "bonus songs" on CDs I've seen when this first came out. They also did an awesome cover of Alice in Chains' Would? During the same sessions!

    A.... ....

I'm pretty sure those tracks are only available with the special edition CD and DVD.

  59. A.... A....

This song's intro is just mind blowing!

  60. h.... ....

The singer almost , almost sounds like James Dewar.

    h.... ....

    It's a Robin Trower song.

    h.... ....

James Dewar did the vocals for this song for Robin Trower Robin just played guitar.

    h.... ....

Yes, I'm a long time Trower fan. This guy just has a hint of Dewar in his voice. It's a very good cover song.

    h.... ....

to me it sounds like Mikael. Pretty different if you ask me

    h.... ....

    not "just" played guitar.....

  61. E.... ....

    ...so is a cover

  62. O.... C....

One of the greatest songs by one of the greatest musicians covered by one of the greatest metal bands on earth. I don't need weed to get high with this.

    O.... C....

    it DOES help, though! :)

    O.... C....

Obscure Creation since a young boy my dad would play this song one of my all-time favorites

    O.... C....

This is definitely the greatest song from the greatest band. I can't get why most of the people can't understand metal, and more precisely extreme metal. Opeth is everything for me, their song are full of emotions and feelings, + my mother was listening to Opeth when i was young so it gives me nostalgy as fuck when I hear their songs, I'm really sad that I'm unable to make someone love Opeth as I do in my surrounding. They inspirate me a lot, especially this song and the Deliverance/Damnation albums. Now they chose another way to make music, which is great, but maybe with a little bit less emotion in it. Opeth is and will stay the best band ever.

    O.... C....

I think Opeth is a great band and would have way more of their music but for the cookie monster vocals. I love the instrumentation, I love Akerfeldt's normal vocals (great singing voice), I love the songwriting, but I can only take the cookie monster vocals in tiny bits.

    O.... C....

@Etna Band Yeah Dude, I agree on everything, I love Opeth (then and now) and would like everybody to do it.
Only thing, this song is not of theirs... it's a cover of Robin Trower, great 70's stuff.

  63. R.... A....

What an absolutely fantastic treatment of one of my favorite tunes. I'll admit that I expected something wrecked, But hey - Well Done! Well Fucking Done! Tasteful and brilliant guitar work in the leads. Thank you for respecting the artwork.

  64. M.... K....

Pretty good version of Robin Trower's song.....Robin still does it better....

    M.... K....

+Mark Kendrick robin trower's version was my weedsmoking song for quite a while lol

  65. M.... K....

Pretty good version of Robin Trower's song.....Robin still does it better....

    M.... K....

Mark Kendrick actually this is better than the original

  66. D.... M....

Good cover and nice voice of Mikael !
    Thanks for sharing !

  67. C.... A....

    Spettacolare Band

  68. v.... 4....

Now do Day of the Eagle

  69. T.... ....

This is better than the entirety of Watershed! Seriously, this is a direction I really wouldn't mind them taking in the future...
    (yes, I know it's a cover)

    T.... ....

+TheAphexTim i Think this was one more sign of what they would turn in to. And it is great. :)

    T.... ....

+TheAphexTim my favorite piece from that album is hessian peel

    T.... ....

TheAphexTim I hope you have cottoned on from Heritage onwards... His cleans are staggering, even more so live. Pure.

  70. t.... ....

A good respectful cover! Not nearly as heavy and brooding as the original though, which put the last nail in the hippy coffin. Warren Haynes live take is good as well.

  71. a.... ....

Very good job Opeth. You guys are one of my favorite metal bands.

  72. R.... N....

Their cover is just amazing. Ever cover that I've ever heard Opeth do has been absolutely incredible.

    R.... N....

    agreed, rip layne

    R.... N....

Rachel Nye What other covers have they done? I'd love to check them out.

    R.... N....

They also cover Soldier of Fortune

    R.... N....

And Remember Tomorrow by Iron Maiden

    R.... N....

@Aganazee they also did Circle of the Tyrants by Celtic Frost

  73. A.... H....

    His voice is just orgasmic..

    A.... H....

Mikael is making history. He will be something like Dio in the future of Metal

    A.... H....

Oh pal... I think he already is... but he is still to young to be recognized. But really, there is no voice nor creativity like his in rock/metal today

    A.... H....

Chewbacca Jr. eons better than dio....

    A.... H....

@Rc Ob You might want to check out Jay Buchannon of Rival Sons.
Not taking anything away from this guy but you are dead wrong.
    Jay Buchannon is fucking phenomenal.

    A.... H....

@Rc Ob You might want to check out Jay Buchannon of Rival Sons. Not taking anything away from this guy but Jay Buchannon is fucking phenomenal.

  74. p.... b....

    Så Jäkla bra Grabbar :P

  75. D.... S....

I listen to the original, and then this, and i gotta say, this was super tastefully done, they did not lose the original ideas, and still made it badass, because, well they ARE Opeth

    D.... S....

Pinetop Renegades You nailed it. They did not try to reinvent the original. Tasteful is indeed the word.

  76. O.... J....

how did 4 people dislike this

    O.... J....

i think they are robin trower fans and they dont like this version

    O.... J....

@Opeth Jay hehe, yeah, I'm sure that's the reason. I like Trower's original, but, Opeth did a great job with this one.

    O.... J....

yup have you heard there cover of soldier of fortune by deep purple

    O.... J....

@Opeth Jay  Yeah, it's a great cover! Even like their version of "Would" by AIC. I know Mikael is a huge classic rock fan (Dio, Sabbath, Purple, etc etc). Love their song "Slither", and still have a huge soft spot for their song "When".....Shit! That song is so epic! Opeth can basically do no wrong. Every new album is a breath of fresh air. Pure greatness!

    O.... J....

yeah wish they would of put an studio version of solitude on new album instead of live version

  77. 0.... ....

Good version. What I really like about it most is that they nailed that unique Trower sound and being a guitar player believe me that's not easy for anybody.

  78. L.... N....

    Can't stop listening!

  79. T.... D....

Wicked cover of the Robin Trower classic. Nailed that bone-chilling guitar intro!

  80. A.... P....

There will never be another Robin Trower or James Dewar(May he RIP) but I have tip my hats to these guys  this is an absolutely fantastic cover well executed with the appropriate reverence to the original.  Love the addition of the hammond organ nice touch.

    A.... P....

Reg Isidores' more languid drum style gets a skip and a jump which works really well on this version...but then Reg' was one of a kind

  81. D.... O....

An well done, respectful cover. However, it lacks Robins feel and while Michael is a solid vocalist, Jimmy Dewar he is not.

    D.... O....

+Deen Ohh I loved James Dewar's voice. It was so rich. I truly miss his voice and there are a few that can sing like him. He was taken from us far too young just like Peter Steele and Ronnie James Dio.

  82. O.... P....

Both versions, original and this, are really great. Version with Michael singing sounds more like David Gilmour :-)

    O.... P....

Thought it sounded as much like Dewar as original...Not much on covers but very well done here....Gray Dawg Below...What about Hendrix doing Dylans "Watchtower" or Devo's "Satisfaction"...Both classics better than originals.

  83. G.... D....

One of the few covers that is actually BETTER than the original, and when we talking about an original from someone like Robin Trower, that says a lot!

  84. B.... L....

No offense to Robin Trower but this is every bit as good as the original most remakes suck hate when people tear up a great song This group has done a gr8 song justice!
