I miss the old opeth... But still my favorite band they are amazing live as well.

I fucking love Camel, I am a big fan of their debut album and I have to say that this song is very different from "Never Let Go". The ones that disagree with me have never listen to Camel. The intro riff is a tribute, the rest of the song has nothing to do with Camel.
Andrew Latimer will be happy of knowing that he is an inspiration to other mucisian.

Pd: Listen to Camel, its a great band. My favourite songs are Separation, Uneavensong and Summer Lightning.
Also listen to their conseptual album "The snow goose", its a masterpiece.

Many guitar, bass, drums and keys players are way more technical than Opeth's members, but *nothing* sounds like them, really unique music!

This is the worst song in the album and its fkin amazing...

One thing I love Opeth for is that their phrasing reminds me of a medieval setting. The notes they choose to play just makes me feel like at home again as a young boy watching Lord of the rings so innocently eating snicker bars ice cream and drinking Pepsi.

All music made comes from inspiration and influence, but Opeth gives me the Opeth feeling that is unique to them! Overall I get a folk/ballade?/prog Vibe from them, great musicians, and I am a Norwegian dude so I recognize The sound, the picture the sound paints, as nordic, I guess The local nature always comes out in The sound artists lay out!, if that makes any sence! Opeth and Camel gives me different kind of pleasures, but I understand The link mentioned by others here between these two bands !

I can see why this has the most views out of all the Still Life songs on Youtube. My favorite track alongside Moonlapse Vertigo and Face of Melinda on the album.

I can really hear how hugely the band Camel has inspired Mikael. Some may think it's ripping off, but once you start writing music you realize that everything that you write is a mixture of the music you have listened through the years. Sometimes it ends up sounding a lot like some other song you have heard, and you may not even realize it.

But yeah, I think Mikael has said himself that he intentionally made some riffs and patterns sound a lot like Camel as a homage to that band.

No matter what musical genres you're into, if you don't have Opeth in your life, you've missed out.

Learning this song now its relly not al that complicated just really constant moving chords and slides that are triky at first .. a lot of theyre stuff is done in E standard which i so respect Ackrfeldt for that as most metal bands do a droptuning  of some sort or a least a half step down . atheist did a drop C !!!! which youd need super slinks for that shyte .!!!
