Operation Ivy - Room Without A Window Lyrics
The position being taken is not to be mistaken
For attempted education or righteous accusation
Only a description, just an observation
Of the pitiful condition of our degeneration
Ceiling made of pride vicious and self satisfied
Door that's made of rage; hard and slowly aged
Always closing tighter with every war we wage
Room without a window, can't see out
Room without a window, can't see out, can't see out
Floor is made of lives, we gladly end to stay inside
Corners made of borders, and borders made of law and order
Painted with the words of politicians and religion
Room without a window, can't see out
Room without a window, can't see out, can't see out
Ha ha ha ha ha
Oh, we're so stupid
Killing each other
Don't we learn nothing
Gotta room inside a mind, yeah we gotta
We can't see out because were blind
But I guess it's true
Gotta make ourselves drink
All right, from a room without a window
To a different way to think
Gotta room inside a mind, yeah we gotta
We can't see out because were blind
But I guess it's true
Gotta make ourselves drink
All right, from a room without a window
To a different way to think
The position being taken is not to be mistaken
For attempted education or righteous accusation
Only a description, just an observation
Of the pitiful condition of our degeneration
Room without a window, can't see out
Room without a window, can't see out, can't see out
Room without a window, can't see out
Room without a window, can't see out, can't see out

Operation Ivy Room Without A Window Comments
Room without a window can't see out - makes sense to me.
as we move into 92', still in room without a view
Jesse is my favorite lyricist of all time and it's not even close.
Are these guys singing about Twitter?
A house without windows was written by a 13 year old girl in the early 1900s let that sink in. She became a typist.
This song is a very over simplified message of that book
OMG THE DEPTH OF THIS LYRICS!
Op. Ivy: ROOM WITHOUT A WINDOW LET ME OUT!
Me: Did You Fart In That Room? Just Open The Door!
Song is very relevant in 2016.
that's cos punk lyrics literally consist of "the gubmint is bad :( there are bad things in the world :("
that literally always applies
But we are 2019
Surprised I still remember all the words. Holy cow.
wReckLesss thought the same thing
lol that's how to live
wReckLesss you still remember the lyrics?
Love this band. Nice job!

[empty] holy fuck, ur right.
the position being taken is not to be mistaken for attempted education or righteous accusation; only a description, just an observation of the pitiful condition of our degeneration
is that some Rorschach on the album?
Great to see this song is still painfully spot-on
Ya =\. Really it's been more than 20 years, though.
yeah well it blows my mind as well. it was just yesterday
Holy shit, it's really been 20 years? Man, time flies...
who's the one Fuck Tard that disliked this? We should put him in a room without a window.
Taaxi Caab more like a jail cell. Whoever it is they suck!!!
Rancid IS some of the memebers of Op Ivy. Op Ivy has been dead for 20 years so, NO they are not the same band with different singers...Look it up.
@bluematter54 op ivy is rancid with different singers look it up
@BigMrSox A-FUCKING-MEN
@BigMrSox you sir have earned mad respect points.
If only people were capable of interpreting the real meaning behind it...There are a few, but only a few...
The rest have assumed that real music revolves around; guns, drugs, murder, thug-life, and oh yeah, the size of your clip, rims, and subs.
What ever happened to substance? I'm a German who was raised during the Cold War, and I have easily related to the positive message of the arts; in direct contrast to the negative imposition of the mindless mainstream beat.
Listen, relate, and enjoy.
Hans von Grimm yeah what you said!
Mm, but I see it differently. It seems to be to broad and general to address a problem as small as gang violence. I believe it's aimed at the real problem that any man can really look at and be brought to disappointment in humanity, hence why Jesse Michaels refers to it as "our degeneration". I observe that it's referring to society as a whole and corrupt politicians and wealthy individuals that seized ultimate control of it and how their conservative mindsets cannot see the human race as individuals with emotion and character, but as numbers and siphons of currency and work. They see other countries as goldmines and send soldiers to throw away their lives in the name of what they thought was justice and pillage them, sap them dry until they have no resources left. only to sell it straight back to them to turn a profit. Their minds a room without a window, they can't see out. We must learn from our mistakes set aside our carnal desire and crave for stimulation and unite as one human race and put an end to war and corruption.
TL;DR It's about rich people, not gangsters. As per expected of punk.
Am I a professional necro'er yet?
@bluematter54 yes, so was matt freeman
Yes he was, bluematter
Wasnt Tim Armstrong in Op Ivy?
He was in Operation Ivy . Back then he went by the name “Lint”
@IGotN0 you might just not like it cuz you find it really noisy and full of pointless shouting that could be someones opinion but I think they're awesome! Thumbs up for knowledge!

I'm not big on lyris but Operation Ivy is one of the few bands that I have a huge respect for their lyrics.
Amazing lyrics, amazing bass player, amazing memories! I get so nostalgic listening to Op Ivy!
