Oingo Boingo - Remember My Name Lyrics

Give me your secret hand
And I'll give you my deepest thoughts
Give me your promise that can't be broken
Give me your tired eyes
Ease your head of empty scars
Fill my head with pictures
That can't be stolen, can't be taken away

And if we're still here tomorrow
Oh will you recognize my face?
And if we're still here tomorrow
Will you remember my name?

Give me your pale eyes
And I'll give you my broken heart
And if you love me this is the place to start
If I build a pyramid from the sweat of other men
Would I be remembered now and forever
Or even for another hour?

And if we're still here tomorrow
Will you recognize my face?
And if we're still here tomorrow
Will you remember my name?
And if we're still here tomorrow
Will you recognize my face?
And if we're still here tomorrow
Will you remember my name?

Say that our life has gone
Just another bed of roses
Just another crown of thorns on your head
Give me your savage eyes
And I'll give you my only wish
Here again and gone today
Like a shadow.. like a shadow
Give me the world, now
And serve it on a silver platter
I'll give you my life along with my heart's desire
I'll give you everything I have

And if we're still here tomorrow
Ah, will you recognize my face?
And if we're still here tomorrow
Will you remember my name?
(We'll only be untrue
To each other if we lie)
Remember my name
(We'll only find the heart
Of another if we try)
Remember my name
(Only pray all day
You went along to soon)
Remember my name
(We'll only find the light
If we only see the truth)
Remember my name
(We'll only see the light
If our eyes are open wide)
Remember my name
(We'll only speak what's right)

Oingo Boingo Remember My Name Comments
  1. e.... ....

wish they released this, it's amazing.

  2. 3.... M....

I get serious Max Rebo vibes from this song! Love it!

  3. F.... T....

The instrumentals on the song sound like a combination of 80s David Bowie and Duran Duran and then the Boingo horns kick in. Very cool find.

  4. C.... ....

Even though Devo's album Total Devo was released a year after this song the drums sound a lot like the drums you would hear on Total Devo.

  5. S.... H....

This is a really great song shame we only have this version but better than nothing. Its better han most of the stuff on boi-ngo

  6. C.... ....

That intro almost sounds like a either a pastiche of or prototype of Weird Science.

  7. I.... D....

Funny how the greatest songs don't make it on to records sometimes.

  8. l.... g....

ok glad we can all agree that this song is sexy as fawk

There is no musician like Danny Elfman, pure genius, absolutely amazing even today at these days when the music is pure crap, this still sounds great...

  10. R.... F....

This track sounds like a collaboration between Oingo Boingo and Prince. It definitely wouldn't be out of place in a record of the Purple One, for sure, it has all of his Pop/Funk flavor.

It's kinda sad they canned this track, it really could have been a hit back in the day.

I was actually thinking that while listening to this! Prince and Danny Elfman almost collaborated on the Batman soundtrack (or at least the studio wanted them to) but Danny felt that the movie needed a more traditional score. So despite his own desire to collaborate with Prince he refused because he didn't think it was right for the project. While listening to this I was wondering what the collaboration between the two would have sounded like!

  11. G.... ....

This absolutely could have been a Bond theme

  12. C.... M....

This Could Have Been A Hit

  13. M.... ....

The vocalist for the British group sounds like Danny Elfman sometimes, especially the way Danny sings in this tune

  14. B.... E....

I found this song while in the Army in 2009, and on my downtime, I would put on some Oingo Boingo songs to keep me in a good mood. This, along with other Boingo rarities that I discovered, really helped.

The one lyric that stayed in my mind to this day:

"Would I be remembered now and forever
    Or even for another hour?"

    B.... E....

Brian E that one gets me good too

  15. C.... S....

Boi-Ngo is my favorite album and this would've been one of the best songs on it.

  16. K.... ....

My God I love this song

  17. h.... ....

Great track lost in the Boingo vault but I can understand why it was left off of the album. It sounds more Duran Duran than Oingo Boingo.

    h.... ....

It doesn't sound like their classic sound but then the Boi-Ngo album was quite different to their others, they were always changing their style and I think this would have been the standout track on that album. It takes the sound of that record and really ramps it up, still in a very unique way. There's still a lot of Boingo eccentricities in it.

  18. M.... M....

Of course the one time Avila gets a solo, it ends up getting cut from the album.

    M.... M....

You should check out some mid 80's tracks by A Certain Ratio. A lot of cool bass solos and bass clapping

The Boi-ngo/More Nervous Energy demos sound like a weird imitation of Pornography by The Cure. This song, for example, reminds me of "One Hundered Years".
I'm glad the Boingos took the more light-handed turn with this album. Otherwise it'd just be too "Curry". It's one of my favourite albums, altrough the unreleased demos could get released on singles or something.

    B.... ....

I kind of disagree that it sounds like an imitation of Pornography, the demo songs from Boi-Ngo have a lot more funk and pop structure than the building atmosphere of Pornography. They have similar rythms but are characteristic in their own way, much more creative songs than some of what ended up on Boi-Ngo like Not My Slave or the throwaway Outrageous. Boi-Ngo is a fun turn for the band but does feel like they struggling for ideas by then – the demos prove that they weren’t struggling at all, so it’s bizarre why they were cut I think!

    B.... ....

@Oingo Boingo Tapes Did Danny's desire to stay in the band start to dissipate around this time? Do you think a song of this caliber would have pushed the band further in a mainstream direction he didn't want?

    B.... ....

r5tony This was actually the time the band were at their most mainstream and trying to get a big pop hit, because despite their popularity in their state the band werent making enough money to live off and might have to split after nearly 10 years. This would have been a brilliant pop track in Boingo’s own style, but We Close Our Eyes and Not My Slave ended up on there instead. I really dont know why it was cut, sometimes in the middle of making an album strange decisions get made!

    B.... ....

@Oingo Boingo Tapes Thank you for the info! I was not aware of there financial situation during this time.

  21. M.... ....

I will always remember your name.

What the hell this song is super hot
