Ohio Players - Fopp Lyrics

Fopped last night and the night before
I had to fopp outside and then I went indoors
Fopped so hard I made the people warm
They stood back and gave me all the floor

I did the fopp, the fopp
They wouldn't let me stop
Yeah I was foppin' and rockin'
Had the house hoppin'

Foppin', the way it makes you go, everybody was
Foppin', everywhere you go, do all your
Shoppin', wiggle to the floor, everybody was foppin'

Fopp with me and I'll fopp with you
Foppin' is the brand new thing to do
Fopped so hard that I lost my shoe
I fopped so tough they had to make some room

Break your leg, don't you fopp your back
Do your thing, don't you give no slack
Shake your hips and then you turn around
Well first you fopp it up
And then you fopp it down

Fopp me right, don't you fopp me wrong
We'll be here foppin' all night long
I'm too short, baby, and you're too tall
But when we're foppin' that don't mean a thing at all

Foppin', the way it makes you go, everybody was
Foppin', everywhere you go, do all your
Shoppin', wiggle to the floor, everybody was foppin'

  8. T.... J....

We treat this rap shit just like handling weight
What they want, we give it to them
    What they abandon, we take...

  9. S.... ....

Crazy tune, don't know why this wasn't as popular as Fire or Love Rollercoaster, to me it is just as good, sounds like the Bee Gees got together with Jimi Hendrix and Sly Stone. Regardless...I'm foppin out all day, I don't care what you say!

Ohio Players - Fopp (Studio Version)

  51. P.... R....

    love that song fopp

  52. M.... C....

Im a huge fan of Soundgarden, so this whole time, I never knew theirs was a cover. Very cool hearing the original, but you can never beat Soundgarden in my book 👍

    M.... C....

Yeah, no. Nice cover, but the original is far more funky and dank. It just doesn't fit them that great. They're just too white and the Ohio Players ... they's black men to their very core and it shows.

    M.... C....

Michael Carson strong resemblance to Chris's voice. Prolly why he chose it. Stands up as a good cover 30 years later.

    M.... C....

I respect your opinion n I like sound garden but I STRONGLY disagree, fop can only come from those with deep deep soul ties

    M.... C....

@Raul Morcillo soundgarden version sounds terrible compare to the original, and i like soundgarden, but his vocals can't match the high tones of Juni Morrison, and the vocals of Sugar Foot is raw. Listen to them back to back.

  53. j.... ....

This was befor the great musical sellout of soul, funk and R&B

  54. S.... B....

    Jay-Z-Rap game/Crack game

Just found out Van Halen used to cover this in their club days. Wow.

    m.... ....

    hmmm...i'd love to hear that

    m.... ....

Goddamn I'd love to hear that. David Lee Roth and Eddie Van Halen on this shit?

    m.... ....

@Peter Saints The Soundgarden version is pretty awesome... Chris Cornell really nails the high notes.

    m.... ....

So did Soundgarden...actually did a cover recording for debut EP

    m.... ....

As an aside Van Halen did "Runnin' With The Devil" in 1978 and The Ohio Players did "Runnin' From The Devil" in 1974.
Seems TOP were big inspirations to others!

  63. 1.... ....

    OOEY, GOOEY FUNKEN

Yep Aug 2019 in South MN. on my phone. So glad I got YouTube cuz I ain't got money no more. This song brings back so many good memories of times when I could play my music loud as I wanted to at home & nobody complained. Good sound in 🎧

  66. S.... ....

From a composition stand point, THIS is Ohio Players BEST album.
    1975,baby!!!!!!!

    S.... ....

BRAVO! TRUE DAT! '75 was a great year for Funk and Rhythm & Blues!

  67. M.... K....

    the too short sample

  68. J.... B....

Saw them in 1976  in  UK Manchester. They looked so badass with the funky faces and shit doing this song that they looked like the cats who sold Sly Stone his stash ( and possibly Johnnie Guitar Watson  and Marvin Gaye) I think they  wuz PLAYA'S .Naartamean?

  69. M.... n....

    Soundgarden ¡¡¡¡¡

    M.... n....

Soundgarden completely fucked up their cover of this and misinterpreted the meaning...anyone covering this classic without a brass section does a major disservice.

    M.... n....

@thomas moody its heavy with a touch of funk, they covered it in their early style which was high pitch sabbathy metal and a brass section doesn't fit that at all.

  70. J.... M....

I wish they would've appeared on Sanford & Son!

    J.... M....

    What? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  71. i.... ....

You got to check out Jive Turkey and Sweet Sticky Thing. These guys had it ALL going on. Funk just takes over your body and makes you have rhythm, between Ohio Players, Stylistics, Isley Brothers, Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, Commodores (old stuff like Slippery When Wet) I was just dancing my high school ass off. Gotta love it.

    i.... ....

Yeah love Jive turkey!!, and Funky worm is great as well just wish it was a longer song, that's a lot of FUNK in such a short song though!!

    i.... ....

Sweet Sticky Thing is the dogs ;)

  72. h.... ....

    "Rich can Fopp, and-ah
    So can the po', unh
    You can Fopp
    Until you're 94"

  73. S.... ....

In Los Angeles in junior high we had some mind blowing pop lock "gangs" I guess you'd call them. In the school rec room at lunch one of the security guards had a black light and they'd put the regular light out put the black light on and on came the white gloves and suspenders and certain other clothes that looked amazing under the black light with the lock moves and they would have these pop lock competitions with acrobatic flips splits, etc. It was totally crazy and us kids screaming and yelling and this song was one of everyones faves we had on the rec room phonograph. Never before and never again in this world.

    S.... ....

I remember seeing The Lockers on the Dick Van Dyke variety show, and I thought they were the coolest thing in the world.

  74. n.... ....

    FAPPINNNNNNNNG!

  75. i.... ....

I remember having this lp and playing this over and over. I was in junior high and my grandparents hated funk and soul, and i loved it.

  76. D.... ....

    Daddy played to this

    D.... ....

Then your daddy knew his music!!!

  77. v.... p....

The rich can fopp and so the can the poor..fopp they wouldn't let me stop..had the whole house boppin..

  78. B.... H....

My favorite O.P. song and album. . . these guys are still the best funk rock band. My mom used to play them on 8track quadrophonic when I was little. . . . . memories! I have all their stuff on my mp3 collection!

    B.... H....

+Brian Hess These guys are great but they can't touch the Isley's with the funk rock stuff!Plus the brothers were a totally self contained unit!

    B.... H....

+othell jacks0n funkadelic kicked both their asses on the rock tip

    B.... H....

So much for the super bad years!

    B.... H....

Brian Hess indeed! I have all his cd collection in my mp3! Anf they are THE ULTIMATE FUNK ROCK BAND indeed. They set the bar very high

    B.... H....

@JUICE DIGITAL Wrong... just checkout unsung! Although, I'm from Ohio and like both Ohio groups. Ohio Players had the most number one hits. And, two number one hits that was number one on both the RB & Pop charts at the same time.
