Ohio Players - Far East Mississippi Lyrics
We should love one another yeah, yeah,
Yeah, yeah, oh, oh, oh
You best not be talking you better be stroking
Far east Mississippi 'cause they don't allow
No stripping down in far east Mississippi no, no
Far east Mississippi
We ought to love one another
Like sisters and brothers yeah
I would love yeah
They don't 'lough no bad living no skinny dipping
In far east Mississippi child no
They don't know honey
No tailducking in far east Mississippi child
Far east Mississippi
You don't stand for no chil violence
No gun knifing far east Mississippi, no
You best not be lying be denying
Coming from far east Mississippi child
Far east Mississippi, far east Mississippi

Loved O.P...but their Live shows never lived up from the studio work
Hell yes!
They don't allow no bad lippin' no skinny dippin' in Far East Mississippi. Only one OP's baby!!!
Ohio players were one of the best studio recording group of all time,they always acheived perfection. Too bad that their leader Clarence satchell took all the money for himself and didn't pay the other members.
Without OP there would be no André 3000
This my jam ...far east Mississippi

Yes R.I.P. Marshall Jones. Your bass line as you've done on all of your songs with the group put them on another level period. You were the last to go to glory, from The original group (The Ohio Untouchables) or line up that made Ohio Players history. You and the Original crew.. Featuring You, Sugarfoot, Satch, PeeWee were truly Untouchable. You guys are my musical heros. Thank you so very much for what u gave the world and myself..

Listen to these lyrics....not just in Far East Mississippi, either!!! Hey!
I peeped it. They are not complimenting it either. The man running out of breath sounds like he is trying to save himself from being lynched.
R.I.P Marshall Jones Bassist the last of the original members from their days as the Ohio Untouchables before they changed their name to the Ohio Players.
MusicLover Pearson R.I.P. JONES
at least we got to see him and Sugarfoot on UNSUNG before both of them passed.
Rock Jones put it down... R.I.P. the Players were the best of the very best. The G.O.A.T
The real boyz of "Funk"..... True innovators...there will never be another group like The Players from Ohio. !!! period !!!!
Another funk group like The Ohio Players is Lakeside,Heatwave,Zapp and The Deele they from Dayton,Ohio too.
I am from Dayton, when I was a teen, my father took me to the Oakleaf club in Germantown Ohio to set up microphones for the group, "The Ohio Players and Another Exchange". He had a signed picture from the band.
Diamond was serious on those drums!
daryl hunt yes he was playa...HE WAS BAD....TO SAY THE LEAST😎

I had all the Ohio Players album covers on my bedroom wall until my mother made me take them down! These guys were creative genuises from the music to the album covers........I'm glad I grew up during their era. The good times I had; everytime I think about it , I feel good all under (LOL).
♫+James Smith ☆: )
You should have moved and took your album covers with you, Beloved! 😊
Had to hide mine under my bed( : }
hell yes!! we were lucky, we had the greatest music ever, todays music blows!!
grab and keep your history. young black folks
♫+Keith Jones ☆; )
Louie R, your diatribe is way over top. I interpret Keith Jones telling young folks to understand their musical traditions. They are American but of black origin and today that great tradition has radically been changed. Think you read way too much into it.
Keith Jones tell em!
Too funky!!!!!
♫+1995RangeRover ☆; )
this was a great band
Grifitti, you brought back some memories of those bands you mentioned. Especially Mandrill and War. Thanks.
♫@XaveOnTheBeat ✰; )
thank you....fellow funkateer
The flood gates open to the sound of the rainbow!
HELL YES!
@Bram25 ♫☆ツ
I bought all their album recently for the covers. I use to have to hide the albums from my mother.
nethater Probably a wise idea.
My Mother would lose her mind too over sexy women. She would tear up My Brothers albums until My Father said for her to stop tearing up his records/albums due to he would re-buy them for him.
Sure he liked the ladies but he was more focused on the music, both My Father & Brother.
cool funk !!! We used to fire up and sit back and trip off this MF. These brothas were extreme and creatively talented. Ohio Players, War, Mandrill, Santana, EWF, Isaac Hayes ....they don't make music like this anymore. Who plays instruments these dayz ??? No more musicians...no more bands.
@Chas Stack ♫☆; )
@XaveOnTheBeat ♫☆; )
@J CC I recognized that too.....Prince had mad skills. Played guitar, bass, keys, drums etc. ....who does that these days ??? And he was self taught.
I'm sittin back here now checkin" the percussion drums on Ohio Player's "I wanna be free" ..... and New Birth ' s "you are what I'm all about". These cats never got any attention sitting in the back on drums but if you listen , they was slayin' nem drums. Check out the bassist on New Birth ' s "pains of love"
grifittillllllllll
