Oh Sees - Memory Of A Cut Off Head Lyrics

Oh, what a day, I lost my body
A feast for beast and all mankind
I am prescription filled for your mind

And the tyrants had their party
While the people fell to pieces
World cries out, "Oh, can't you see us?"
But they've clearly lost their mind

They will come to live again, again
In a soldier's mind, a washed up body

So, where is God? He has no say here
At least the beast is fleeting too
We have an unstrung fate for all time

Yet, the masters have their money
While the people pray to pictures
Words of peace hang in the houses
But we've clearly missed the point

They will come to live again, again
In a soldier's mind, a haunting vision

What can we say? We have no army
At least the east will rise a sun
I am so lonesome now for a time

And the tyrants had their party
While the people fell to pieces
World cries out, "Oh, can't you see us?"
But they've clearly lost their mind

They will come to live again, again

This is fantastic! YouTube brought me here. Lift a Finger by the Garden Path is very Velvet Unground-ey. I am a fan to some extent, Tidal Wave is a jam that would hang with all jams. Just hadn't heard this whole album. I'm going to listen to Lift a Finger by the Garden Path again...right now.

This is basically like Paper Màché Dream Balloon from King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard; a psychedelic folk album from a band known for psych rock.
I love this unique Oh Sees album so much!

  4. R.... R....

It reminds me of my next best thing.

  5. S.... Y....

Anyone know what instrument is being played for the main finger picking section in the song "The Baron Sleeps and Dreams"?

    M.... A....

    sounds like viola to me

    M.... A....

I was always picking my nose but there again nose

  14. T.... M....

Excellent psychedelic and freak folk. I bet this album will get pretty recognized later on.. as will all of Johns work.

    human cannonball

  15. M.... H....

On and On Corridor is excellent. Reminds me a bit of TFUL282

  16. E.... W....

So glad Brigid is featured heavily on this album. I'm not sure if her and John's harmonies could save the world or destroy it, but I love it either way.

  17. C.... ....

Dwyer leads the pack in modern psychedelic music

    C.... ....

    King Gizzard has surpassed them

  18. b.... b....

Fantastic, he must be the only person left in 2017 who puts out ~15 excellent songs every year...

    b.... b....

King Gizzard & the lizard wizard would like a word haha

  19. M.... A....

I thought that Orc was John Dwyer and co.'s masterpiece. Guess it was only one of their masterpieces.

    M.... A....

It was a pleasant surprise. I ALMOST liked it just as much as Weird Exits, but not quite. He seems to know when it’s time to strategically write in a different style for a bit, and executed it beautiful here. It really feels like the song flowed out of them naturally, which gives it a special feel. The songs themselves have juuuust the right amount of instrumentation too. I always love it when he works with Brigid.

    M.... A....

Haha I couldn't agree more. This album is well-timed and the instrumentation is perfect. Brigid really shines a lot on this album I find.

    M.... A....

BTW, is the Golden Tarot your own stuff?

    M.... A....

Totally! I am biased though I must admit, because she was front and center when I first became a fan of the band, and have always missed her presence. But to do a more stripped down album like this, with her playing such a big role, honestly makes the reunion even more special. This shits on replay all down now friend, thanks :) <3

  20. N.... N....

I saw this in my recommended and thought it was their older album "Drop", but thank Christ it wasn't.

    N.... N....

Drop is a masterpiece...this one is like God telling to someone "make some music for me and you better not disappoint me" !

  21. L.... D....

    now this is fucking good

  22. H.... P....

Too bad The Chopping Block is a copy of David Bowie (I Loved You Since I was Six) by BJM....

    H.... P....

DO yourself a favor and don't worry if a song/melody/chord-progression sounds like another artist. All artists are derivative from their predecessors and imitation is unwisely demonized. Imitation and honor are a key component in all artistic fields.

    H.... P....

    Oh fuck off

    H.... P....

I had to laugh at this considering your username. Led Zep get a lot of shit about copying tunes don't they?

    H.... P....

If you say so. I'm cool with taking and creating new things because that's what everything is built off of, but at least add something else to it and don't just change the lyrics but keep the melody

    H.... P....

@brian keiper everything Is the same moment Time dont exist... They're all inspired by the same feeling

  23. F.... C....

    Dame promo :'D

  24. T.... I....

  26. S.... ....

    Ground control to major Dwyer

  27. O.... J....

The chopping block is clearly a bowie tribute. Nice one Dwyer!

  28. U.... ....

Me gustan mucho las primeras canciones, folk, referencias a The Beatles y Bowie, etc, pero hacía la mitad el album pierde consistencia velozmente.
Cannibal planet, la mejor del LP.
    Saludos.
