Everytime I listened to this song I was really mystified by the lyrics.
I find them to be very dark. At least that's how I interpret them..

It's the story of a girl who took the place of someone's ex-girlfriend. It is stated that the ex-girlfriend left him so she is there to fill that gap. And she chooses to do that by obsessing over that girl and trying to imitate the way she looked, moved and talked, studying what she liked and what haunted her.. She is literally her stalker. And all this struggle and effort just because she perceives the idea of his ex-girlfriend, as a shade of perfection.

I think this is something that happens in real life..maybe most of the times not in such extremes but still. Some relationships are bound to have one of the two living in the shadow of the other's ex. Oh Land is awkward enough(in a brilliant way) to make it into a song.

I think when she's saying 'your perfection' she means she's watching to understand what her lover's version of perfection, his idealized vision of what a woman he dates should be - and then she can become that.  And that's why she doesn't recognize herself.  She's become someone else.  I can completely relate to this feeling (and I'm sure many many other girls can as well).

The anorexia idea is really really interesting though too, as is the stalker-y way this is presented.  She has this high-level lyrical meaning functioning on several different levels and the sound is so dope.  She is awesome.

I don't think it's about stalkers... I pretty sure is a sad song for girls who had lost themselves trying or change everything that made them what they were for their parteners.

And when she talks about "until i get your perfection" means that they think they're perfect and they want to be alike... you know... "the perfect cuple"

This song i listened to a lot last summer, i was "training" my body for anorexia at the time. After dissecting the lyrics, it makes me think that maybe that could be what the song is about. Down to a T this song describes my struggle and thought during that time.
