I’m the second child and my sister is way more wild than me

I like to think of this song as the theme song of one of my OCs. His older brother is sort of the perfect son and a model student while he struggles in school and is an unintentional troublemaker.

So, if my dad had a kid from his first marriage, and then married my mom, and had my brother, and then me, does that make me the second child, or third child?

I’m the second child and I have an older brother who’s PERFECT. He had good grades, had a lot of friend and my parent always brag and compliment him. I’m five years younger and when a teacher at my school asked me if we are siblings, they expect me to have perfect grade like him. To be nice and popular. To be attractive like him, but I’m nothing like him. I want to go outside but my over protective mom won’t let me and then complains about how I don’t go outside or don’t hang out with friends that I don’t have. She put all of her stress on top of me to carry. While my brother is having a perfect life. I’m the youngest on my moms side so her family treats me like a new born every time I see them.
Being the youngest child is the worst. Your stuck in a prison.

Sounds like it could be the story of Cain and Abel, since there's a lot of religious themes in this album. Or maybe Maggie wrote this as a way to vent her frustrations as being a second child lol song is fire either way

I'm the second child and it's actually not bad. Except I don't like being the second child because it's my older sister's existence that caused me to be second, and I don't like her existence.

This is interesting to me as a first child who was always the forgotten child, the restless child. I dont care so much now as i have my friends and i like being alone its just interesting.

Im the middle child. A black sheep in my family. My whole fam is introverted, very smart, and all that stuff. Im the opposite though. I also get in serious trouble for things my brothers would only get a gentle warning for. I dont know why, but it sucks. My parents dont understand my need for social interaction either. Going out with friends is a big deal to them and I have to like, earn it sort of?? I'm born the first child and only one of my mother, yet she's verbally abusive and when the hoe's angry she'll choke me or as she did once put a death threat on me. She'll rage over the smallest of things lol. I have a paternal half-sister, who's my father's second child and trust me. I'm the exact opposite of the first child; i'm the last child if you'd observe it correctly.It's the same with my grandparents also, my cousins and my half-sister always come first. I don't envy it but just the thought is another factor that messes my mentality up. It's a very likely possibility that everyone thinks i'm a demon (which i apparently am lmao).

Come to think of it, i too am a second child. I understand it. My older brother got to run while i was stuck. Besides the gender stereotypes, i was never really treated differently than my brother; but since he was older, he could run.

But i can run now, too! I need to stop thinking about things so much and get out before i get stuck for good. Cause I CAN hear the world outside calling me. I can hear it hanging on the wind, and i can feel it underneath my skin.

I can relate to that except I am the oldest. You basically are a mere shadow when a sibling has special needs.

I am the oldest child in my family, but my parents have always payed more attention to my siblings, always favor them over me, and are always much more lenient with them, so I can relate to most “second children” I guess

I think it’s mainly because my brother (who’s the actual middle child) is literally perfect at everything. He gets good grades, is great at sports, is generally an obedient and good kid, and makes tons of friends no matter where he goes.

Yeah, it's probably just a bunch of people whining in the comment section, self-identifying as 'forgotten' just because mommy and daddy weren't 110% as excited about their first day in primary school as their older sibling's. Most probably had a beautiful childhood with loving parents, but oh, they ran into a song on Youtube, so that changes everything!

I don't know a single second (or middle) child that feels unloved, forgotten or unwanted. I myself am a firstborn, but my younger brother is mentally disabled, so it's not like I ever got more attention than he did. And we're both very happy with our parents.

@AGH331 The only thing is, knowing that your parents treated your older sibling with so much more attention than you can be a downer, even if you DO have amazing parents. Everyone can be jealous when their older sibling gets, let me draw from my own life experience as a middle child, a party for their milestone birthday only for the parents to realize that it was a lot more work than they were expecting. So, when you hit that milestone birthday you get a party but it isn't nearly as grand or have nearly as much effort put into it. It wasn't my parent's or my older sisters fault, my parents just realized that a huge party was to much work for them to manage well and my sister had really no knowledge of it, but it can just be a little upsetting when you deal with that sort of stuff. Especially if it happens repeatedly, as it normally does, because we are humans and we learn by doing.
So no, most people probably aren't unloved just because they were born second. But they were treated differently and that can cause just a little resentment. It's just what happens when humans see another human get something that they want. Just a little jealous over anything from a small and simple thing to something big.
