Absolutely, categorically, one of THE worst songs and videos I have ever had the misfortune to stumble across.

Honestly I'm surprised that this wasn't a bigger breakout hit. Of Montreal has always been successful - but this song is so fresh, so relevant, and so extremely catchy and funky I was expecting it to really explode and reach a wider audience.

I interpretted the meaning of the song to be along the lines of: its better to be female than male and more of an ode to the generalizations and way women think. Yet women are still marginalized by the ever-present patriarchal force. The singer and party is ultimately celebrating what it would be like to live in a world void of the masculine confines of society. AKA This is a feminist song.

Love this! Every one is so beautiful in this vid. It is different for biological women, men (and sadly some women) put us through a specific kind of hell. And we are gods because we produce and feed human life from our bodies - most men for centuries and today hate us because of this and want to control our power of life giving so they can feel like gods.

y’all really read into things too much. there’s an interview with Kevin where he literally says this song was inspired a lot by having a daughter and being forced to see how sexist and fucked up the world really is for women. maybe some lines seem “stereotypical” to you but Kevin’s lyricism is flashy and over-the-top.... always. i think the general message of the song is clear, and wholesome, and it’s Kevin doing his best to be an ally. i personally think he’s doing a great job at that, i definitely don’t get the criticism.
