Of Montreal - Enemy Gene Lyrics
Aren't you sick of the con
Not quite Homo-Luminous
They're expecting so little
Can't feel the miracle
For black body radiation
[Janelle Monáe:]
Love breaks the machine
Everything is half apart--what can it mean?
How can I trust my fractious heart
Knowing I have the enemy gene?
Love breaks the machine
Everything is half in dream--how can it be?
It's not just me
Particle wave duality
How can we ever evolve
When our gods are so primitive?
They destroy the film
They want to disable my system
Looking for traces of a clean hit
If the end of the world has ever happened
This must be it
I've grown too strong that's what they said
To keep my animal spirit
It empties me
Now I'm vacant
Love breaks the machine
Everything is half apart--what can it mean?
How can I trust my fractious heart
Knowing I have the enemy gene?
Love breaks the machine
Everything is half in dream--how can it be?
Everything's born in shame
It's not just me
Particle wave duality
I know that we'll never survive
This little victory
Love breaks the machine
Everything is half apart--what can it mean?
How can I trust my fractious heart
Knowing I have the enemy gene?
Love breaks the machine
Everything is half in dream--how can it be?
Everything is born in shame
It's not just me
Particle wave duality
How can we ever evolve when our gods are so primitive?
They destroy our hope for peace
Hope for love

Of Montreal Enemy Gene Comments
God think the same. Humanity is a ball and chain. Let's evolve.. And destroy ourselves with wars, pesticids, co2, mainstream music and so on. That's right humanity don't need god. We're handing it so well
Depressing, but I get it
And I think mainstream music is the worst of that

@Prounounced Noob, forgot the other 29 seconds? Especially the zombie licking windows for black body radiation.
How can we ever evolve, when our gods are so primitive
Aren't you sick of the con? Not quite home and loneliness.
They're expecting so little... Can't feel the miracle.
There's zombies licking your window, for black body radiation ...
@MansaBC she is awesome! Last time I saw these guys she played first and it was sick. Super awesome show.
Gets good at 0:29
The female vocals are Janelle Monae.
Let's all get high and watch Battlestar with Kevin Barnes.
This song, man...
Aren't you sick of the con?
Not quite home and loneliness...
They're expecting... So little.
Can't feel the miracle.
... You know? My heart hits a high note when I hear the words "Everything's born in shame, it's not just me".
I feel... Hate and love. And sadness.
i like the "particle wave duality" and "there are zombies licking your window" part. ;)
cute song.
@milestonechild lol
This song is most definitely about religion "how can we ever evolve, when our gods are so primitive?"
"they destroy the hope for peace, the hope for love"
religions build more barriers between people, rather than bringing them closer to each other.
talk about a revolutionary song!!!
the female is Janelle Monae
about 400 of the 21,490 hits are me. =)
@LarryTheMuffinman XD
@Khasar It sounds like a big collab with Matt & Kim, MGMT and Of Montreal. WHOA. That needs to happen. /dreams forever
@r3dk9 yeah, that's Janelle monae. SHES AMAZING. make the bus is a song with Of Montreal on her album. I suggest everyone listen to it.
@MrFarvis ?
@Khasar Gosh, you're funny.
this is what happened after "Hello From Inside the Shell" if you take both songs about Zombies
the beginning kinda sounds like MGMT imo. like em both.
@r3dk9 is it Janelle Monae ? She's great!
Just saw these lovely people in Lawrence, KS. Amazing. If you get the opportunity to go, DO NOT pass it up! Get up to the front :)
best part of this song is the beginning with those crazy fuckin sounds.
@r3dk9 heavenly? you must be talking about Janelle Monae, and that she is!!!!
"Love breaks the machine...." gosh this song is so beautiful.
This is my favorite song off the album as well. I just saw of Montreal/Janelle Monae live earlier this week and was shocked that they didn't do this song, especially considering Janelle was there. Still an incredible show all around.
@r3dk9 janelle monae is awesome!
I LOVE the piano runs during the chorus... It's just so nice =)
Janelle is so cool, but cant ever touch Kevin Barnes. He is a true genius.
i like them both as if they were different songs so there take that ok eat it you're not the boss of me
@r3dk9 - They really make the song go from wow to wowza.
I really cannot get enough of this song.

@FunAndOnly are you really letting the guy with "xjackass420x" for a user name out-classy your posts, bro?
@xjackass420x i think i just want another cherry peel...whatever

I was super stoked on this song when Kevin uploaded his stripped down piano version. I like that style better :\
Rad song, rad album, hells yes.
