I just this album today off Amazon that i ordered. This song is growing on me. I so glad I took a chance

With all due respect to what I know this band can do, why are there so many slow ballads and mediocre musicality in this album? What I loved about your band was it was different and upbeat. Other than the 1st song, (that I loved), at this point I had to stop listening because all the songs were slow and boring. They sound too much like, "lifestyle maintenance". (Bonus points if you get the reference. Please bring back your upbeat sound.

Many people are unhappy when there is a change to the norm they are used to, but another album of the same would be met with some calling it boring and old hat. You do you, OMAM. This album shows off vocal range and musical brilliance that displays how much you have grown as a group. We will be traveling 7 hours from Missouri to see you in Chicago, and cannot wait to see one of our favorite bands once again! Keep up the great work!

They were tired of writing acoustic guitar songs and I'm glad they gave it a break, it would oversaturate them, it's always good to experiment new genres and they've done it pretty well.

(I love the folk acoustic songs, don't get me wrong, MHIAA is one of my all-time favorites)

Arky SP, can you actually explain why you think it’s generic beyond the fact that: it has synthesizers? Synth does not instantly make something generic.

This track is my fav from the new album... i can't help falling in love everytime he says "head is still an animal" because it brings me so much nostalgia yet it causes me a feeling of a new beginning.

There are a few songs that I like, but overall I felt like this album sounded... just like any other over-produced pop album. The lyrics for many of the songs don't have the layers of metaphor, folklore, and animism that drew me to OMAM's previous albums. The melodies are catchy, but half the time I feel like I'm listening to modern Taylor Swift or something. (Nothing against Swift - I actually enjoy a lot of her stuff.) I understand they wanted to do something different, but to me personally that "different" lost the soul of what really attracted me to their music. I've seen this with several artists I enjoy - for example, 30 Seconds to Mars and Fall Out Boy. Their more recent albums have become increasingly overproduced, less focused on the things that really set them apart from the crowd.

I'm not against change, and I have seen artists evolve in ways that I was still able to appreciate. Vienna Teng is a great example. Her most recent album, Inland Territory, is a huge departure from her classic piano+vocals style, but her mastery of lyrics, the depth of the stories she tells in her songs, and how deeply personal they are on multiple levels is still there. And the album doesn't sound like "just another late 2010s pop album". It's still uniquely Vienna Teng.

Sadly, I think OMAM did not quite find that sweet spot. A few songs they did - Stuck in Gravity, in particularly, IMO - but as a whole... no. :(

I don’t know if I would call it bad—it’s just more...average...than their first two. Their first two had a unique sound to them. This one is more mainstream pop. I personally don’t think it’s terrible (I would call it good), but it is no where near the level of their first two.

It's heavenly when Nanna does the second voice in that part. Nanna and Ragnar's voices are so good together. definitely my fav song in the album followed by Under a Dome and Róróró
