Right now in the story, I have no idea what crime he'd committed to warrant such punishment, but every time I hear this song, I think of that fictional elephant and start crying 😢

I don't know ifanyone will read this. But I just want to say when I was in the Navy I went on a 6 month deployment to the china sea on an aircraft carrier. It was a very stressful time and I felt like I would be trapped on that ship forever.
This song used to give me hope, I listened to it everyday. Knowing I would see a shore again, though I may not know which one. And I found peace and felt that though I was "far from home" in the "salty waves" with jets flying over my head, I was happy. Listening to it now, far from the Navy. I can look back with fondness and renewed strength, knowing I persevered through a difficult time. Thanks OMAM, for an oasis amidst chaos. <3

I was going through this emotionally abusive relationship a while back. I asked my teacher if I could sit outside cause i needed time for myself to think. All of a sudden this girl I use to know come up to me and asked how I was doing and what was wrong. I looked like a lonely mess 🤣. We talked for a tiny bit and it made me feel better. This song was recommended to me at that moment and even though the meaning behind this song has nothing to do with what i was going through, it cheered me up. It made me feel strong. Put my flannel back on, fixed my hair, fixed my shirt, cleaned my eyes, and gathered my shit to go back inside the class. It was such a powerful moment and i wont forget it.

Have any of you guys read "The City of Ember"? Its more so 5th grade genre, but this video reminds me of it. A city underground, and a city on a creature in the ocean.

Whoever does the animations for Monsters and men show make a short movie. 😊😊😊 the animations it really good.

The VFX company that was making these is called "WeWereMonkeys" and they actually did a few short movies in that art style :-)

The Monsters are definitely refugees from the War of Birds and Bees in a mystical feyland across an endless sea, and Finner took them to Iceland to blend into the world of men.

I imagine that Finner helped a city escape because of a war, and he is taking them to a new, peaceful place they can live. The city travels for many days and nights, seeing sunken battleships and burning villages, also destroyed by the war. They welcomed refugees to come with them as well. The people of the city miss their home dearly, and fear that they may never find a new place to live. But they do. They build a new city on new peaceful land. The people of the city are so grateful to Finner, that they write this folksong. They sing it at festivals and to their children. No one knows exactly where Finner is now, but they hope he is a t peace.

The creature reminded me of Maturin, the arch nemesis of Pennywise in the Stephen King's novel, but Maturin is a Turtle in appearance.

I had this dream when I was a child where there was this giant turtle with a city on its back and it turned into a serpent then a giant tree this reminded me of that dream. That dream happened a good twenty years ago and I had entirely forgotten about it until now.
