I know this song is about WW2 but my imagination went wild and applied it to the Skyrim Civil War.

My interpretation isn’t completely canon but it fits the song.

Dirty Paws: My Dovakiin Felicity who is a loyal nord warrior who later is drafted into the Stormcloak army and helps to free Skyrim once more.

The Bees: The Thalmor backed by the empire

The Birds: Nords of Skyrim.

Creatures of Snow: The Stormcloak army lead by Ulfric Stormcloak

Queen (and king) Bee: Thalmor ambassador, Elenwen backed by General Tullius and the legion.

The forest: Skyrim

Killing machines: Thalmor justiciars abducting and executing Stormcloak soldiers and loyal nords.

Holes: Doubt they feel as they are on the losing end for a short time before the tides turned and they won the war.

Probably makes no sense but I just wanted to share.

The idea of her being called “Dirty Paws” can be a derogatory insult spat by those loyal to the imperials since the mascot of the Stormcloaks is a bear and she was such a well known warrior before she joined the army and they were disappointed that they didn’t have her as a part of their legion.

It's cool to notice that the animal choices in this song are not random and their personification makes sense!

Bees follow blindly a leader (the queen Bee) and because of that alienation, they could be easily misleaded in being soldiers for wars that they don't even know why they're fighting for.
While birds can be seen as a symbol of liberty (of thinking, maybe?) And the fact that "the sky wasn't big for them all" implies that the queen bee used her soldiers and weapons as a leader, to censor the liberty of thinking and therefore stay in power.

This band is something else, right?

And you can see that the scenario in King and the Lionheart could easily be the same but after or during the war, cause not only the forest is black and white (because of the weapons) but it really connects with the storyline.

What I love about these songs is that it gets you thinking, it gets you deep into the meaning of the lyrics and kinda just gets your brain thinking, that and the musics really really good

Hey. My opinion is that the song is about WWII. The 'my head is an animal' part reminds of PTSD that many people got from seeing their friends die right in front of them. The 'animal' was the father of two children, one younger and one older. The 'son' was the older brother and the 'dragonfly' was actually the younger brother. The younger brother departed to join the war and then came back to spread the word of what could be war stories. I think the dirty-pawed she-wolf/dog/etc. could be the U.S.A. since the country, in old folk tales, is referred to as 'she' or 'her glory'. American soldiers went into a forest full of trenches, where they could hear the rustling and whispering of Nazi soldiers (sorry if I offend somebody). The birds should either be England, France or the Jews and I think bees are Old Germany. When the sky wasn't big enough, they mean that the nationalism made people believe that Germany was better and deserved all of Europe. When the birds got help, they are meaning Russia from the Creatures Of SNOW and the Dirty Paws, America. 'Things were cold'. They mean the winter that plunged into WWII, basically Winter War. People were scared in their holes, meaning homes or trenches, and the killing machines were guns, tanks, soldiers, etc. America brought some..friends...along for the ride and took down Germany, leading the Nazi soldiers to get jail time and the 'Queen Bee' to uh, do the do. The beast may be the uniting of the four dirty paws, basically the world powers. Sorry if I got anything wrong. Also, in the video, I think the birds are people that are willingly going to the war and going forth to protect their, or others', country. It started with one which I presume was the younger son.
