Ocean Colour Scene - The Riverboat Song Lyrics

I see double up ahead
Where the riverboat swayed beneath the sun
Is where the river runs red
Like a King who stalks the wings and shoots a dove
And frees an eagle instead
It's more or less the same as the things that you said

I see trouble up the road
Like the things you found in love are by the way
And like to cheat on your soul
Like the best and worst of thoughts that lose control
Before you lie on your bed

It's more or less the same as the things that you said
Anyway for all the things you know tell me why does the river not flow
Anyway for all the things you said tell me why does the river run red
Anyway for all the things you've seen tell me when will the river run green
And anyway for all the things you know tell me why does the river not flow

It's more or less the things you fail to say in your way that's your trouble
Like a King who stalks the wings and shoots the moon and the stars
And his double
It's more or less the same as the things that you said
I see trouble up ahead
Where the river boat swayed beneath the sun
Is where the river runs red
I see double - that's my trouble

  33. *.... M....

So the thing I've always wondered about since the 90's. How the eff do you dance to this song? Sway or leap about like a disjointed weirdo?! ..

  41. O.... W....

    that riff!

  42. M.... S....

This Album has aged better than Colin Jackson drinking a glass of 1947 Cheval Blanc.

  43. T.... C....

Just found this gem of a song now, NEVER heard this here in the States.

    T.... C....

The album is one of the finest from the 1990's

  44. C.... K....

John Higgins' walk on music brought me here

    C.... K....

Just watching him play David Gilbert atm.

    modernoooooooo

  58. G.... R....

    Memories ☺

  59. D.... i....

Sorry I have to say I hate this band. they can play yes but they sound like a Paul Weller Tribute act.

  60. G.... P....

Thanks for up loading this. It makes remember the good years when I still had fight in me at 17. Thank you also to the band for countless hours listening and being inspired 😊

  61. A.... H....

What a great track, and what a shit video. Why do some directors think that these blurry, keep-changing-the-speed effects add something to the music?

  62. b.... ....

Underrated band, one of Birmingham's finest

  63. A.... B....

One of the most underrated songs ever. The boys from Brum did good 👍

  64. A.... F....

Not all the best bands came out of Manchester we have some too , proud Brummie.

  65. T.... ....

    Here because of Pointless.

  66. d.... ....

In 96 i was 16. What a great album for the mid 90s.

  67. M.... V....

What happened????!! What do we have now??? Music is officially dead in the water.

  68. T.... S....

I wish they had more songs that were as rockin’ as this. Though I still love select songs: Talk On, Blue Deep Ocean, this one of course, etc. Definitely an underrated band

  69. J.... P....

Love it...but it is such a disappointing ending...😞

  70. s.... c....

    TFI Friday :)

  71. D.... E....

Muy mala esta banda. Una porquería

  72. P.... 7....

    9T6.......just ❤️

  78. t.... ....

Pa papara papa pa papara papa, best riff ever

  79. J.... T....

The video really detracts from the music.

  80. A.... H....

Oasis were the best but these cats were the coolest... that riff is naughty AF.

  81. f.... j....

    VERTIGO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  82. G.... M....

Great live band too. Saw them in Dublin a few times.

  83. B.... A....

    Colombia present

  84. D.... D....

I've had this song in my head for years but never knew the actual song or band and decided to search and I'm happy I did.

  85. A.... H....

The older that riff gets, the naughtier it sounds.

  86. M.... C....

Ah remembir buyin this CD it still blows me away

  87. A.... A....

This is such an obvious rip off of Zeppelin's "Four Sticks". The riff, the rhythm, even the "river runs red" lyrics.

    A.... A....

Apollo Alexandre I find post your ironic 🤣

  88. J.... B....

Moseley Shoals right up there with Urban Hymns, Morning Glory, Weller, & Roses.

    J.... B....

Agreed! That album should not be glossed over, its fucking brilliant and totally individual.

    J.... B....

Totally right up with those mate, without a doubt.

    J.... B....

    agree, class album

  89. R.... T....

Well this takes me back to the 90's in the Birmingham clubs Snobs and Red Balloon.
The good old days when music was still good.

  90. v.... h....

September 2nd at Knebworth, can't wait.

  91. r.... p....

    Heavy 60 and 70s influence

  92. E.... W....

Little known fact - the area they came from is about 80% Pakistani and they were ok with that. As am I. Just needs to be pointed out I feel.

  93. s.... d....

Where did this band go? Nobody said they could leave...they were splendid

    s.... d....

They are playing at Brixton Academy this weekend

  94. p.... ....

    one great song

  95. e.... ....

Always liked this and it always reminded me of led zep 4 sticks, even the odd lyric is in there

  96. J.... C....

I had an X boyfriend conpear me to this song!! Bless him!!!

  97. A.... U....

Simplemente! FELIZ!
