Ocean Colour Scene - The Circle Lyrics

Saturday afternoon
The sunshine pours like wine
Through your window

But I know golden June
Can turn an empty grey
Against your window

And I feel like I'm on the outside
Of a circle

If I walk by the trees
I'll catch the falling leaves
If the wind blows

But I know all this means is
Whiling on the hours
Watching sideshows

And I feel like I'm on the outside
Of a circle

Will I turn my coat to the rain?
I don't know
But I'm going somewhere I can warm my bones

Fare you well I'll carry me away
And sing to those I know
Upon their birthdays

And I won't feel like I'm on the outside
Of a circle

  7. I.... G....

Everyone was into Oasis. I was into OCS. I didn't care. They were muppets who didn't know what music is. Spent 2 weeks of my paper round money on Moseley Shoals and still have it today.

    I.... G....

    You have most excellent taste.

  8. M.... D....

This is how it feels to be lonely

    M.... D....

So heres my thing, 96... Mum n Dad were still alive, Scotland got humped at the Euros, I left college to start a Computing degree, discovered heroin, Friday nights were all about TFI then a night of the scag, saw Ocean Colour Scene at the music hall in Aberdeen and started dating this young college girl Morag who was totally beautiful inside and out and wanted to learn about haggis... shit i had it good.

This was me and my mates 35 yrs ago going off on our scooters bank holiday weekends down to Scarborough Ayr Morecambe to name but a few. I loved this tune and mosely shoals but I don't go and see them no more.the barrowlands glasgow my fave gig haunt seen them no idea how many times some good memories. But even now they haven't written anything new or relevant they just turn up and play their back catalogue gets boring. Just wish they would get a grip and write and another decent album....travellers tune

  43. P.... ....

Sounds an awful lot like fall at your feet?

  44. Z.... Z....

It's weird how music that in the 90's sounded so 60/early 70's (a lot of acts tried in the 90's OCS were the only band that truly sounded like they were from that era) now conjures the 90's unlike anything else for me.

  45. M.... M....

Saw these guys back in the late 90's around the same time I saw Paul Weller. Fantastic. Steve Craddock. What a guitar player.

  46. D.... S....

This era is the best ever.

  47. S.... B....

    Shot in Moseley,Birmingham that was

  48. D.... B....

That moment when 1000's are chanting, OCS OCS OCS, OCS OCS, the only band to make barrowlands history by playing 5 straight sell out shows and tickets are still gold dust in places. Stunning band of my generation

How young does Steve Craddock look!! Good lord!

  69. C.... R....

I never liked oasis I never liked blur..ocean colour scene were severly overlooked in my eyes.they were the band that played on and on and on...

    C.... R....

The songs are timeless and never get boring

    C.... R....

Never got into them till a few years ago now I cannot stop listening to them. Over looked because brummies best band for me. Weller is 2nd place

  72. C.... M....

Fuppin love it brings me back to the 90s

  73. M.... A....

my favorite band of all time. 16 years old not a care in the world. good music, drink, friends. Happy days. take me back...

    M.... A....

Malcolm Allison great bands great times. Always reminds me of the day Man Utd won the league (again) against Middlesbrough 0-3 on the last day of the season... shit for me cos I'm a Liverpool fan and I'm still going through the pain of drought but at least it's not then winning premier leagues ATM. It hurt but what music at the time. I remember the Blackburn-3 Leeds-4 game live on sky and they played OSC afterwards, what a band at the time. They're a perfect example of memories from the 90's. I'd like to see them make a comeback with the energy and creativity they had back then.

    M.... A....

I know what you mean Malcolm, the poor kids today just wont ever get that feeling.

    M.... A....

Malcolm Allison Yes my friend happy times and this was when Tony the traitor Blair changed the country with immigration for ever .

    M.... A....

Malcolm Allison I know those were the best days. Being young and carefree

    M.... A....

I was 16 when this came out also. Best days of my life!

  74. C.... J....

  75. U.... D....

its like gun water - too many thinking

  76. O.... R....

Great song, watching the vid can seem a bit ironic - all those scooters and mods, if you aint quite suss enough you are on the outside of the "Circle"!

  77. D.... L....

there best work was moasley shoals.

  78. R.... J....

i came to OCS late being a fan of oasis as a 12 yr old, wow i missed this song turning sunshine into wine

  79. b.... d....

Pure from the heart man love it.

  80. B.... ....

Top band, still filling venues all over UK. Headlining some big gigs this summer in Leeds and Birmingham celebrating Moseley Shouls.

  81. A.... O....

Brilliant song. Nothing fancy. Nothing pretentious. Nothing over the top. Just simple, beautiful music with lyrics that conjure up a thousand thoughts and situations. Love it. Had forgotten how much I liked it.

    A.... O....

Brilliant song but weller wrote it for them. Still a fucking good tune tho.

  82. A.... A....

    why they aren't famous? ? they're great

    A.... A....

They were a lot more famous when new to the charts. But the retro novelty wore off in mainstream pop. What an amazing band though.

    A.... A....

To be fair their popularity started to wane right at their biggest peak, when they did the theme to Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and the S*n decided to out the lead singer... To be fair though they'd probably admit that working with Paul Weller so much as backing musicians hurt them too as they were always seen as "Weller's band" or "Brummie Oasis" rather than their own thing. Worked with the guys few years later at a show and they were nothing short of class. Still in my top 3 live bands.

    A.... A....

    Lolol that made me laugh

    A.... A....

@Joe Chill or maybe just too young to have heard of them before.......

    A.... A....

    Rob Taylor

To be fair it was an ex band member from The Fanatics that outed Simon as she was replaced with Oscar and the rest is history,
Also Steve had been playing with Weller from ‘93 and if you listen to ‘Foxys Folk Faced’ this is a homage and thank you to Weller for ‘Opening every closed door’ following the self funded Moseley Sholes project...without Weller they probably wouldn’t have even made it that far...and Weller plays on the Mosley Lp

  83. P.... ....

Had the true privilege of meeting Stevie Craddock this year, what an absolute gent. Also caught a fairly intimate gig recently featuring just Fowler and Oscar which exceeded my already high expectations. Tune after tune after tune, had everyone on their feet singing their hearts out lol. If you've not been lucky enough to see them play live before (and even if you have), and you get chance, then do so as they're up there with the best. 20th anniversary of their greatest album coming up, 3 guaranteed top gigs, no excuses! See u there ;)
