Ocean Colour Scene - Get Blown Away Lyrics

And when she blows the candle flame to smoke
She says a prayer for all those who live in houses and in homes
And Monday she'll go down town standing naked in the road
You may know what I am
But who I am you don't know

She'll run across the mustard dust sand
Scream down the wind
And the sea is in and cold
Like when in holiday homes
And houses like sweets confectionary
And sandcastles and drinking wine
Hungry dinners perfectly timed

And mother and father glowing young
Happy to be each other together
When she blows the candle out
She goes to bed and lies and drags through her head
The day that went the way of every day
But tomorrow she'll fly a plane
Over the fields where the houses aren't built yet

She smiled sweetly across the room
Through the lunchtime smoke
And I loved her for a second
And discarded the queen and I know
How sweetness turns sour
And leaves they turn to brown
And then to earth and dust
And settle in this town
To get blown away, to get blown away, to get blown away

And when she blows the candle flame to smoke
She says a prayer for all those who live in houses and in homes
And Monday she'll go down town standing naked in the road
You may know what I am
But who I am you don't know

She'll run across the mustard dust sand
Scream down the wind
And the sea is in and cold
Like when in holiday homes
And houses like sweets confectionary
And sandcastles and drinking wine
Hungry dinners perfectly timed

She smiled sweetly across the lunch time smoke
And I loved her for a second and discarded the queen and I know
When men are being little boys again
And women cruel step mothers of old
And this is the invention
The adventure of my own
I get blown away, I get blown away...

  14. D.... P....

I've been listening to this band for over 20 years and still love it!!!! Truly brilliant!!!!

  15. M.... 1....

I have seen them live several times. They sound just like they do on the album live. Brilliant band.

  16. R.... W....

2019? The most underrated song on the album:)

  17. T.... W....

My brothers song. I miss you and I’ll love you forever 💔

  18. D.... S....

Seen this band play live 14 times. Never seen a bad performance! Wether they play a small venue, big venue or a festival they're always bang on. Simon Fowler is one of the best vocalist I've heard and Steve Craddock is one of the best guitarists in the world. Along with Damon Minchella on base and Oscar Harrison on drums there wasn't another band who could touch them. This song is one of my personal favourites.

  19. T.... S....

I WENT AGAIN THIS YEAR TO CATCH THEM ON TOUR ... 20 TH YEAR EASSY... FUCKING ACE !!!

  20. j.... ....

But who I am you don’t know...best song of this band

  23. C.... C....

    O.C.S. AWESOME!!

  24. D.... S....

18 dislikes!?! Who the fuck done that. You would have to be a total fucking philistine to not love this song. Whoever you are you can fuck off!!!

  25. J.... D....

Timeless tune. Still listen to it at least one a week 20 years on. Don't think they were underated, not in in Ireland anyway. Just not as mainstream as some of the others at the time A good thing in my opinion as it meant I never had any trouble when it came to getting tickets to their gigs

  26. D.... M....

One of my all time favourites ❤
Remember having a drink will the lead singer at a bar in Belfast, great set.
Edit - it was the students Union.

  37. L.... E....

lads who dont need the spotlight making them lose their souls to those who have other thoughts. keeping there minds safe for seeing how the world causes confussion. love them for keeping it without the fame. the best band..

  38. B.... M....

Reading all the comments below kinda saddens me this band are huge in Scotland

    B.... M....

    Blair Marshall why?

    B.... M....

People are saying they should have been bigger. In Scotland they are massive one of the most popular bands when they were in their prime

    B.... M....

cause they are fukin quality mucker

  42. L.... D....

  43. A.... C....

    It is goosebump inducing.

  44. K.... G....

Well said obi these were all top bands a lot better than the shit that's going around today

  45. O.... R....

If Oasis were the Beatles, Blur would be The Kinks/Small Faces, and OCS would definitely be The Who!

    O.... R....

So who gets to be The Stones? The Bluetones?

    O.... R....

    Primal Scream?

    O.... R....

    Radiohead

    O.... R....

  50. E.... H....

Just been transported back to 1998.... Wow! Still remembered all the words.... How sweetness turns to sour....

  51. D.... H....

rediscovering OCS here on youtube after many years of not listening to them. Could not agree more with the trend of comments here regarding why this band is not as popular. There music is timeless....and they made not just a few good tunes but loads of great songs, just like great bands all do. why where they never bigger?!

    D.... H....

God only knows - they have produced the most amazing music over the years - maybe it's because they're not full of themselves like others - they're in it just for the love of making and playing music and it really shows! - LOVE THEM

    D.... H....

May have something to do with frontman coming out as gay not that it deters me from listening or admiring their music but at that time coming out as gay maybe just didn't wash. Imagine Liam or Noel coming out as homosexual wouldve put a severe dent in their fanbase.

    D.... H....

@I.T. By Emma Paul Weller tore this band in half for his own gain sadly

    D.... H....

    David Hazelden absolutely brilliant

  52. N.... P....

    Top band top tune

  53. j.... z....

Must agree with below ,one of the most underrated bands ever blow oasis away imho.

  54. J.... W....

awesome guitarist......oasis couldn't touch these for talent

    J.... W....

    J.... W....

  57. J.... M....

one of THE most underated bands ever!!! long live OCS

    J.... M....

  59. R.... D....

very very very very very very good!

  60. S.... H....

blew me away at the APOLLO manchester, great song!

  61. w.... ....

Not heard this song since around 1997. Then a friend at work mentioned the band and said he'd heard some of their stuff and liked it. Told him to hunt this track down, and i found it here myself.
Brilliant, and brings back a lot of personal memories from the last time i heard it. Great stuff.

  62. j.... ....

my favourite song for over a decade.... perfectly written and i'm struggling to find a better vocal and melody combination

  63. a.... ....

    YES!well said

  64. d.... ....

never heard anything like this in my younger days and im sure i never will il take this band with me to the grave top class band that never got the recognition they deserved because there music is more than top class is should and will in my eyes be set in STONE godbless OCS

  65. k.... ....

@zubnala oh well, Led Zepp did steal most of the music from bules hits. lol..

  66. c.... ....

  68. z.... ....

fuck oasis fuck o.c.s, led zepplin rule brittish rock

    z.... ....

Well fuck off to the led zep channel

    z.... ....

What a narrow view. Listen to everything. There is no such thing as bad music, only music you don't like.

  69. J.... M....

you may know what i am but who i am you don't know................... absolute class poetry in motion. totally under rated

  70. F.... ....

I love this band since the very first song that i heard. They have never disappointed me, all their albums have magic tunes.

The whole world should be at their feet, they don´t know what they´re missing

  71. M.... S....

A little known absolute classic. One of my fav of all time

  72. o.... ....

fuckin annoys me when people have to bring oasis into all these arguments listen i love theses guys i love cast another underated band who didnt get there dues but to slag oasis off when they gave all these underated bands there voice fuckin annoys me stop hating

  73. S.... ....

in a town in britain that will remain anonymous. Let's just say it's like royston vasey from the league of gentlemen comedy prog. Landed there when shit hit the fan. The locals are scary. They all look alike. I feel like I am in the Bill Murray film Groundhog Day.

  74. S.... ....

This isnt on any of the jukeboxes in any pub where I live. Still, if you knew where I lived, you wouldnt be surprised either.

  75. A.... ....

    tuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuune

  76. e.... s....

    best brand ever

  77. L.... A....

    epic tune (Y)

  78. P.... A....

  79. a.... g....

ol cunt road? cpt wanker?written word? Mmmm!!! ocs top band. from a mush in sheperds bush!!!!

  80. S.... ....

Great song. Why is it always riverboat song on the various artists cd's ... ? ho hum.

  81. a.... g....

some cunts commenting on here. working class and proud!!! fuk off back to daddys wallet. plenty of violins elsewhere.

  82. s.... m....

    wot a f**kin tune

  83. M.... ....

like carla lanes 80s sitcom bread...this bands output is excruciating to say the least...In fact one has to hide behind the sofa with the sheer embarassment of such daft pretensions buy such a shower of wankers...

  84. M.... ....

I think the man knows his prince of wales from his dogtooth, unlike the sorry arsed pile of shit that is ocean duller scene..

  85. P.... H....

I love the imagery that comes , i adore the passion it evokes. It builds on slender platforms a castle. The thing is out there and itrs vulnerable; you;re asked ,come along and care..... and you can be Damn skippy that I did and it has mad3e me threncely and soforth.

  86. P.... A....

beautifull song simply amazing what a voice

  87. S.... F....

Love this song, love OCS. Thank you very much. Saw them once a few years ago and was lucky enough to meet Oscar in the Indian afterwards - got a pic and I treasure it. Something about their music is so sixties (my era) and I love it :)

  88. h.... ....

Why does it annoy you so much that people have different tastes in music? Get over it! What depressing thing has happened in your life to make you always want to be the villain?

    OCS are the greatest!

  89. K.... M....

    definitely best song ever!!!!

  90. V.... S....

    AWESOME!

  91. M.... ....

ed de goey has now rejoined ocean duller scene...its thought simon fowlers penchant for moustachioed gingers was paramount in eds reinstatement..Its thought that once ed has resolved his parental estrangement he will be appearing with cpt wanker and crew at the science museum..right beside stephensons rocket .A fitting scenario for such tedious musical pounding..mechanical and soulless...

  92. s.... ....

one of the best songs ever

  93. E.... O....

it blew me away ..OCS 4 the win

  94. M.... ....

I've heard a remix of the Ed de goey version..Its better than the original...Funny how an average goal keeper made it in the music biz...

  95. R.... H....

top band simple as!not for everybody's ears, but what is?

  96. d.... f....

nice comment, OCS have always been in oasis' shadow, oasis have done many more songs that catch peoples attention + which are, despite what anyone says, amazing songs, but ocean colour scene are, by far, a better band than oasis, just not as much charisma unfortunately

    d.... f....

What a load of old BOLLOX!

  97. d.... f....

u are a complete idiot, or maybe just deaf

  98. I.... ....

I agree. I love both OCS and The Kinks so much. I saw Ray Davies at an open air solo gig in Cardiff once...it was awesome.
