O'Sullivan, Gilbert - Divorce Irish Style Lyrics

In answer to your question
You've made a big mistake
But in the eyes of God
That's a risk you have to take
Divorce Irish style
Unless of course your privileged
With a cardinal up your sleeve
Hope of an annulment is
Unlikely to succeed
Divorce Irish style
How can two people live together
When they've fallen out of love
Are we so blind
As to reject the pain they fell
What right has anyone to say you must
Even God himself can't be the judge
We've only one life after all
And if it's not our fault
Why can't we be released
Something must be done
And that something must be done urgently
Forget it ever happened
Go away and start anew
You love each other surely
Well at least you used to do
Divorce Irish style
How can two people live together
When they've fallen out of love
Are we so blind
As to reject the pain they fell
What right has anyone to say you must
Even God himself can't be the judge
We've only one life after all
And if it's not our fault
Why can't we be released
Something must be done
And that something must be done urgently
Think about the children
After all they must come first
Okay she's found another man
Oh well it could be worse

I get jesus's notion. I remember watching george carlin on a talk show and he said next time politicians call for war....the soldiers should just not show up. the interviewer said, thats silly in reality it will never happen.......and george carlin said, I know I am operating on a different level. I think jesus was doing the same thing.

anyways kind of weird when you juxtapose this songs sentiment with " a womans place is in the home" lol!

@pawz63 live still go on when things goes wrong, you have to find out where you want to go in life, and who you want to share your life with, always keep your family and friends close to you, they will help you to get through the hurt and pain when your marriage break down, but always ware your heart on your sleve.

UNBELIEVABLE! I HAD NO IDEA BOUT THIS IRISH LAW. LOVE CAN GO FROM LOVE TO HATE IN A VERY SHORT TIME, IT ONLY MAKES SENSE TO HAVE TO BE ABLE TO DIVORCE,,IT'S BETTER THAN ABUSE..MENTAL AND PHYSICAL..WHICH I HAVE IN MY FAMILY AS WE SPEAK. IT'S HEARTBREAKING.

@mohawk3881 TRUE MO IT A POWERFUL SONG, AND YOU DID A GREAT JOB ON PUTTING IT TOGETHER AND I THINK IT WILL OPEN ALOT OF DOORS FOR PEOPLE TO SAY JUST HOW THEY FEEL.

Very well put together Mo! Very, very good! Not only because it is one of those brilliant songs
Divorce as a chance to save a life - e.g.just think of domestic violence!

MANY PEOPLE FELL IN LOVE AND GOT MARRIED WHEN THEY WHERE YOUNG, AND WHEN THEY FELL OUT OF LOVE, THEY COULD NOT GET DIVORCE, THAT;S HOW STRONG THE IRISH CHURCH HAD A HOLD ON IRISH MARRIAGE, EVEN NOW IF YOU GET DIVORCE AND YOU WANT TO GET MARRIED AGAIN YOU CAN NOT GET MARRIED IN A CATHOLIC CHURCH.
