O'Jays, The - Ship Ahoy Lyrics

Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!
Ship Ahoy, yeah
Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!
Ship Ahoy.

As far as your eye can see,
Men, women, and baby slaves
Coming to the land of Liberty,
Where life's design is already made.
So young and so strong
They're just waiting to be saved...

Lord, I'm so tired
And I know you're tired too,
Look over the horizon, see the sun
Shining down on you...

Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!
Ship Ahoy, yeah
Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!
Ship Ahoy. uh-huh

Can't you feel the motion of the ocean,
Can't you feel the cold wind blowing by?
There's so many fish in the sea,

We're just, we're just, we're just
We're just masts?
Riding on the waves...
the waves
we are
riding on the waves...

Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!
Ship Ahoy, now yeah
Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!

They're coming by the hundreds
Coming by the thousands, too
Look over the horizon, see the sun
Shining down on you...

Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!
My-yyy
Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!

Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!
Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!

We're just, we're just, we're just
We're just masts?
Riding on the waves...
the waves
we are
riding on the waves...

Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!
Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!
Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!
Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!
Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!
Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!
Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!
Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!
Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!
Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!
Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!
Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!

Totin' that barge, lift that bail
Get a little something, gonna land in jail
Somebody bite the whip
I'm your master
And you're my slave
Uh-huh
And you're my slave
I'm your master

Look over there, what do you see

Tell him look over here, what do you see

"The purpose for studying Black history is not to find out how great you were. It is to find out what mistakes were made that got us in our current situation."

All you gotta do is pickup a KJ bible and read all about it. Deuteronomy 28 tells you all about the consequences of our failure to obey Yah.

White man biggest fear😵 is the day young Blacks put the 🔫💉💊🚬 down and grab some📚📚knowledge. Can't take what's in your brain🤔

  16. r.... r....

The generation doesn't care about the struggles, pain and torture that millions of men and women went through for the price of freedom. The voice to speak freely and travel around the world at your choices. Education, 💰, Family. Now it's rap🎵 and🚬💊💉🔫 to each other just because. Seems like it will get worse before it even begin to get better. Young generation. You control your future. Not the white man or prison guards🤔

  17. K.... A....

  29. P.... E....

If you haven’t visited The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American in Detroit, do so. Witness how slaves were held captive on The Ship. The time I went this song was playing. HEARTBREAKING the way we were TREATED, and still being TREATED.

    REAL TALK!!

  41. W.... T....

See … according to Faex Mundi the Africans enslaved by Catholics got "branded" (like cattle) catholic, whereas those enslaved by protestants got "branded" protestantic. Sammy, OJ, certain other "cases" of severe ridicule: "catholic branded slaves" according to the absane and insane delusions of Faex Mundi.
This song is alluded to musically in the movie Exorcist II. (At least the version of it they sell on media these days; a severely manipulated version of the original vintage film, which _may_ not have included that musical reference …)

  42. A.... G....

This should awake any and all who had an ancestor force into servitude, 256 years of abuse, torture, and violence against all of humanity, Especially towards the members of the Human-family! We must not allow our selves, our children and their children to fall from grace as we did once in our life times. Unity is our first priority, perpetual love is our only goal for each and everyone of our family who truly believe in the One GOD. Who have given us all of the resources to save our selves from a life of perpetual failure. WE CAN NOT GO BACK TO THE HELL ON EARTH, AS WE DID IN THE PAST. U.N.I.T.Y.
UNDERSTANDING - NEGOTIATE - IMPLEMENT - TRIUMPH - YIELDING. Know that now is the TIME unify; because Unity is the Integral solution to all of our problems. PEACE & LOVE BY WAY OF THE M.S.T. of A.

  57. F.... J....

A true and wonderful representation and beautiful song

  58. e.... u....

In my view, possible the very best of The O'jays. They don't make R&B like this anymore .....transports me back to 1973, year of release, when I was barely 10, and then further back 400 years earlier. Having said that, Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff must have been pure genius to mastermind such an emotionally high production.....

  59. J.... C....

This track of greatness by the O Jays make you think of life itself from the beginning to the end of the journey. It take there in the song as many life true blessing along your way that GOD let you see and it make you think on a high level of his greatness. For you know all the falls but GOD has lifted you & made you overcome everything in life journey. From that time of slavery to 2020 .

Reparations now. All of these so called representatives should listen to this song and get educated man. I am 61 years old and am from Tuskegee Alabama. My great grandmother was a slave in Macon County Alabama. I remember feeling the grooves on her back from being whipped when I was 5 years old. I never forgot that. America has to make this right, Eddie, Walter and William sang the hell out of this. There is still a message in the music.
