O'Connor, Sinead - Vampire Lyrics

Obadiah Obadiah
Jah Jah sent us here to catch vampire
Obadiah Obadiah
Jah Jah sent us here to catch vampire
We have the chalice to lite up Jah fire
When I am nigh catch them vampire
I am nigh I go set them on fire

I-man troddin' down the unity lane
See a deadlocks running down a rasta man
Swear that if he catch him he will kill him dead
The deadlocks couldn't catch the rasta man

Obadiah Obadiah
Jah Jah sent us here to catch vampire
Obadiah Obadiah
Jah Jah sent us here to catch vampire
We have the chalice to lite up Jah fire
When I am nigh catch them vampire
I am nigh I go set them on fire

A true rasta man
No go shop no bin shop ??!
A true rastaman
Does not gamble
A true rastaman
Does not play card pack
A true rastaman
Always humble

Obadiah Obadiah
Jah Jah sent us here to catch vampire
Obadiah Obadiah
Jah Jah sent us here to catch vampire
We have the chalice to lite up Jah fire
When I am nigh catch them vampire
I am nigh I go set them on fire

A true rastaman
No firing they a gun
A true rastaman
No throwin they a bomb
A true rastaman
E no drink the drum (?)
A true rastaman
Does not gamble

Obadiah Obadiah
Jah Jah sent us here to catch vampire
Obadiah Obadiah
Jah Jah sent us here to catch vampire
We have the chalice to lite up Jah fire
When I am nigh catch them vampire
I am nigh I go set them on fire

Babylon a man they sing
And they blame it on the rastaman
Babylon a man they sing
They blame it on the rastaman
Obahiah Obadiah
Jah Jah sent us here to catch vampire

  17. leswoodies2

I remembered discovering that song on a train trip in eastern europe with no reggae since weeks. We were at Woodstock festival in Poland one morning on the camping and we could hear some reggae in the far wich sounded perfect... So I crossed the whole camping to ask for the name, and the song was that one. Some small memories x'D

  18. HonkyTonk68

A true Rastaman does not gamble!

  19. Shadow Potter

    BEUTIFUL SONG

  20. TheMeganimal

I've done a fair bit of live action role playing, games like vampire, werewolf, mage. All purely theoretical fantasy, of course. Tracer bullets are very handy, they're used by the military to light up lines of fire for heavy weaponry, and light up fuel tanks of lightly armoured vehicles. Vampires don't like them at all.

  21. Dalia Cunning

"I an I ago set dem on fiya"

  43. Benjamin Rood

I love the cover on this record. Whenever I see the album artwork it I can't help but think what Sinead's mother used to do to this innocent little girl, what an evil crazy devil she was. How evil humans can be. :(
How brave Sinead O' Connor is to keep living truly.

    Mariusz Fidzinski

sort of - yeah - but human being is not able to fully recon THE CHURCH OF JAH - you never know... you judge to much... we do... Church of God is FAR Above I...

  44. EtosFotosCorfu

    anteeee geiaaaa lemeeeeee

  45. Danielle Nowlan

since when is a politically backed organization like the catholic church too powerful to fall? there have been dozens of examples thru history. I think Ray Baby is a little defeatist.

  46. Danielle Nowlan

the last verse is "babylon a mash up the scene, and they blame it on the rastaman"
not "babylon a man they sing"

  47. woccowpuaski

I catch vapires as I catch bong hits

  48. Blitz3677

Do like this version by Sinead of a roots reggae classic, but prefer the original by Devon (Irons ) Russell wt Dr Alimantado toasting

  49. Daniel Tran

    she is gay

    Jeremy Lee

Daniel Tran first of all,i just love her music,i don't care she's gay or not. and she's definitely not gay. she's been married for 4 times and have 4 kids!!

Чудная песня, именно в исполнении Шинед она очень класно звучит. Я как-нибудь сыграю эту песенку со своей группой.

  70. Elvira Rosabal Camarillo

babylon mash up the sea... (British Petrol)... And they blame it on the rasta man...(Barack=)

  71. skeet238

This Upsetter version is one of my favorite Roots songs, so heavy! that power shines through this verion. Some comment her patois is not perfect, but how much inspiration has that little island spread. It inspires me to read Obidiah, a little book in the Bible. it can almost be read during the length of this song.

  72. Evan Steck

I love this cd as well as this version of this song! just cant sit still listening.

  73. rivpupper

I tried to catch a vampire once...BIG mistake!

  74. TheTrueHappy

Zonkus, I believe the lyrics are "InI" not "I am nigh"

  75. ninjaguy3

patois is our (Jamaican) native dialect spoken alongside Standard English. It is a mixture of African words with English words

  76. Fraeg

    @ninjaguy3 what is patois?

seriously curious, I mainly listen to uhmm the polar oposite of this kind of music.

  77. Yummy Bear

yeah sinead a real rasta fan...yay!!!!

  78. X Asd

Oh Edward you are sooo srewed ^^

  79. FatManRedemption

I clicked on this to see if it was real. Way to go, Sinhead! Pronounce those Rs! Firrrrrre! Vampirrrrrre! GREAT!

  80. ninjaguy3

o my Lord, why did she do this. I am charmed that she loves our culture, but this is awful. Especially how she tries to use patois.

  81. cswvmi

    O'connor-I on fire!!!

  82. toni cancino

Obidaya Obidaya Jah Jah sent us here 2 catch VAMPIRE!!SEEN!Third eye open !

  83. Silvia Sáez Delfín

    rastafari sinead ^_^

  84. Serban Stefan

    you're gay :D

  85. Cold Duck

Big Sinead fan! Kind of an eerie scary song, some movie producer should cough up some money and put this song in a vampire movie.

  86. MartialIrie

Had to open it again, to see how grose it was...

    Just my opinion....

  87. MartialIrie

    This is so grose ...

Never heard a bad imitation of a great Lee Perry tune like this.

Makes me wanna puke in a bag and send it to miss O´Conner.

    Disgraceful!!!!

    Del Logan

You make me wanna puke in a bag and send it to you, you fuck up.

  88. Dreadless Rasta

This song is wicked!!...should listen to the original, even better. Devon Irons

  89. johnners911

    I prefer Westlife

  90. fuzzilu

this is amazing !!! I`ve always loved Sineads voice and I do luv Leee Perry too ... what a result :)))

  91. Kamil Muzyka

a very nice song, better than the original.

  92. wharfsys

I like this, nice rhythm :) sinead forever

  93. Groovy Hi-Fi

go to record shop soon , buy anything , listen it , and you'll most likely hear something better produced (for example any of the original she covers)....just a tip fe you...

  94. Bradley Blalock

This is one of the best musically produced albums I've heard in a long time.
