O'Connor, Sinead - I'm Not Your Baby Lyrics

It's a beautiful day today
Everything is going my way
Even the words doing what I say
Oh babe...got to get away
To be impossible isn't that difficult
In the city you're invisible
When you come from a small town
Everything is alright
Everything is alright
I'm not your baby please

A tourist in a traffic jam
Babysham handycam
I'm not your mother you're not my man
I'm not your baby
Don't treat me like I'm a trick
I won't treat you like you're a prick
Don't need no doctor I'm not ill
I'm not your baby
Everything is alright
Everything is alright
I'm not your baby please

Cut out the poetry
Let's hit the main artery
No time for a tournequay
Let the colours all run out on me
You brought me all kinds of goods
Now my heart is so full up it hurts
It's heavy as a shopping bag
It's full of things I should give back
Everything is alright
Everything is alright
I'm not your baby please

I'm not your baby
I'm not your baby

Don't want you to cover me
Smother me or mother me
I like to feel this incomplete
I'm not your baby
Everything is alright
Everything is alright
I'm not your baby please

[Bono: (while Sinead sings: Feels so good, feels so good)]
Feel not dizzie just busy
Didn't drink nothing fizzy
No pills to feel easy
Don't know what got in to me
Daylight is a kinda robbery
The night is your geography
So you're not white, you're pink and rosy
You could be right but you're way above me
Me I'm in recovery a star of pornography
I'm a tourist there's a lot to see
You don't like the photographs of me
So you've got a lot to say
You don't sleep around but sometimes you stray
You don't belief oftentimes you pray
For something...what is it babe?

Don't treat me like I'm a trick
Won't treat you like you're a prick
Don't need no doctor I'm not sick
I'm not your baby
Everything is alright
Everything is alright
I'm not your baby please

I'm not your baby
I'm not your baby
I'm not your baby
I'm not your baby
I'm not your baby
I'm not your baby
I'm not your baby

I don't think having Sinéad on this track should've precluded it from being included on Pop.
I think Johnny Cash singing out the Zooropa album put paid to that concern.
    It's a solid song they're singing here.
    That matters the most.

    J.... L....

I think you should shut up.

  8. Q.... J....

    AWESOME

I wish Sinead wasn't in this, then it could've replaced If God Will Send His Angels on Pop.

I like to think of 'Pop' as the band's mid-life crisis record. If you think about it there's a journey to the songs. It starts with the cheesy Discotheque were they literally 'dad dance' on the music video. Mofo is about that crossroads in their lives ("looking for the father of my 2 little girls"), and songs like 'Miami' and 'Playboy mansion' are nostalgic musings. At the end the band have come to terms with their mortality and are changed by their experience with 'Wake up dead man'. It's one of the many reasons why it's one of my favourite albums by them.

If youe wear that velvet dress is the best song on the album imo' the tender vocals with the souring guitar part, truly magical

@Dokka Chapman pop was the best and last great thing they ever did, on about dad dancing , grandad music now

@Gruagach. Eire Maybe... Personally I quite enjoyed '....Atomic Bomb', not just because of it's production value, but because it seems to be the last time the band's talent and emotions mixed well. I will say this though, I re-listened to 'All That You Can't Leave Behind' recently and it has not aged well lol.

@Dokka Chapman Definitely with you on ATYCLB and HTDAB was better, my problem is i got into U2 at about 13 after i liked 'Hold me, thrill me, kiss me,kill me' bought Achtung Baby and Zooropa and literally Pop came out two years later and i think I've been waiting for another Pop type album for going on 25 years, still waiting but i know I'm not getting it now but now and then you get a NLOTH which has a couple and tracks like 'sleep like a baby' sneaking through, i still think they have another great record in them but they need to stop over producing the songs like 'Xanax and Wine' which is a tune but then they started turning it into a shite song like 'Fast Cars', who ever made that call should be shot.

Have to remember this was the 90's!  I liked this so much after hearing it on the Film "End of Violence", I recorded it from the Movie to Cassette. Back then the only way to have tunes in your car. Now I have it hid away on my ipod!

  11. I.... ....

Totally Pop influenced song. The beat and production remind me of Please

    I.... ....

    +Israel D A version of this was the b-side to Please. http://www.u2wanderer.org/disco/sing040.html

  12. T.... ....

Such a cool beat! Love it!

  13. S.... ....

Well done! Where do I put my money to support the artists?

  14. s.... ....

    Sinead rocks.

  15. P.... ....

Looks like the Triple M commercial of the late '80s!!

  16. K.... A....
