Whether people will admit it or not, M.C. Ren was just as vicious on the mic as Ice Cube. After No Vaseline dropped N.W.A. was already in turmoil as a group and Ren really wasn't nowhere in the competitive spirit to answer Ice Cube back. He said without Dr. Dre's production why should he and that he and Dre was still cool. And plus, even though he stayed with Ruthless while Dre left, he too had distanced himself from Eazy due to creative differences and the fact of him not wanting to diss Dre which was what Eazy had asked him to do since he was being under attack.

Because he was too dark and not at all marketable as a solo act. Cube was able to get over because he aligned himself with Chris Tucker and others to make himself less edgier to the public. Dre had the ghost writing of DOC and Snoop, Pac and Em to get him over. Ren however made no adjustments despite his being hella talented and villains aren't marketable without a good guy.
