Numan, Gary - M.E. Lyrics
And M.E. I eat dust
We're all so run down
I'd call it my death
But I'll only fade away
And I hate to fade alone
We were so sure
We were so wrong
Now it's over
But there's no one left to see
And there's no one left to die
There's only M.E.
Why should I care
Why should I try
I turned off the pain
Like I turned off you all
Now there's only M.E.

Where's Your Head At?
With this beautiful song I realise how crappy Where's Your Head At? is. Bunch of shit compared to this.
MASTER.
One of my favorite singers ever❤️
Gary’s voice is very haunting,
and filled with so much emotion.
like the keyboard
The Metz cover is really dope!! Metz is an awesome band !!
spellingisfun
Such a hypnotic groove.
Saw "Cars" on MTV in 1980 when there were only 5 or so music videos played over and over. Nazareth " Holiday " was the other. Young and impressionable....still listening more than ever ! Thanks Tubeway Army.
Hey Mind Hunter Fans take a seat and get cosy and welcome to Gary's amazing world
This is one of those songs that speaks to me on a personal level.
Grooving into 2020 with this classic 😏
Oh, wow. Mind blown. So many people owe this man a nod.
Listening on NYE!
Nos vemos por aqui, certo?
Great song.
Regardless of how people heard it, I'm glad that they are aware of Gary Numan and amazing music that changed the scope of music 😁
We with zozo
Just discovered this. I've even known 'where's your head at' since 2003 when I was 10. This is just indescribable. The way those flangered strings with the beat at the beginning make me feel withe his voice coming in almost ununderstandable, then speaking those words, followed by the breathtaking synth throughout, WHAT A TRACK! Especially from 3:55
Try it out at 1.75x speed, it’s fun.
Its December 2019 and I'm still listening to Gary Numan, it sounds like he created New Wave if this came out in 1979, it sounds like early techno too. I love his song Cars, some cool stuff
MINDHUNTER, anyone?
Cant wait for season 3!
Fantastic album, nothing beats it.
My jam 😊👍
*AND ME I EAT DUST*
Algorithms. YouTube = GOD
This is genius.
We're all so run down.
What a bad ass! Psyched !
I was searching for this song since I was a kid
But is not this what I'm serching for...
Damn
Where's my head at?
So far ahead of his time- music that is perfect....
Supongo que Basement Jaxx sacó de aquí su sampleo
This song is about grief. I love it soooo much!!
40 years people...40 years.
Used to listen to this on a FM Progressive Rock station in Phoenix AZ. Forward thinking music.
Gary Numan was a major influence on early 80's Prince. He even use the LM-1 drum computer first (Which is the centerpiece of Prince drums in the 80's). There would be no "1999" or "Purple Rain" as we know it without his influence. Mr. Numan is a pioneer and deserves recognition.
KLAUS NOMI MEETS DAVID BOWIE MEETS DEPECHE MODE MEETS KRAFTWERK
Those synths really make me feel some type of way
Brilliant song
Just noticed how many others discovered this gem through "Mindhunter Season 2." Whoever picks the music for the series, you need to be in charge of my Pandora listening.
When the shrooms kick in. Top notch
WHERE'S YOUR MIND HUNT
I think Phoenix copies him.
Based on how he's looking at it, I know exactly where that red pyramid thing is going.
speed to 1.25
You're welcome.
Who else is listening to this in January 2020?
I'm listening to it in January 2120
Who else is listening to this in December 2019 ?
Just 4 days early, dude.
Where's my head atttttt🤯
Chicka" Chicka' Bow Wow.............Musik to repair vintage motorcycles by.....
I was 17 when this came out and remember hearing ''Cars'' a LOT on local radio. Easily one of the strangest sounding hit songs. I think MUCH MUSIC used to use the first few notes of this song on one of their ads. I always suspected it was Numan but this is the first time,I think,I've heard the whole song.
Basement Jaxx sampled this ? Where's your head at.....
the way he looks at that pyramid.Damn.
Gary Numan was a gift to humanity
I concur darcyow14
I became a fan of the show because of the music...then I thought the show was written well....great job to all those involved. Also dont forget The Police track Darkness....I was wowed because I hadn't listened to that album in years.... Bravo Netflix
So this is where MGMT got their sound 🤔
why M.E.? :(
Many have tried to emulate, but there can be only one...
god damn brilliant
A pioneer in modern electronica, he was way ahead of his time
Nov o19
How I'd end my series or movie on being the only man left on earth. This song is playing from a record shop and fades in louder. The protagonist is then swarmed by a swat team and kidnapped and brought with them. And is so numb from all that is happeend he doesn't care. The song is still playing and he's being experimented on but you can tell the soul has left his eyes. This keeps going till it's him in his room. Alone. Staring at the sky which ash is slowly falling down from. He smiles and whispers "this is the end" and the song fades out and roll credits
Fatboy Slim check it out now, the funk soul brother
10 November 2019, Palermo, Sicily.
I first heard Gary Newman when I was in my early teens. His voice has much contributed to my view of Great Britain being a place of a beautifully quirky culture.
Slow it down to .75
I listen to this alone.
WHERES YOUR HEAD AT
I lived off this CD back in 96, and I don't regret it
Anyone else gonna be playing this in 2020?
Knowing M.E. Knowing You - you've got to keep their energy up
operating in-between using such frequencies
This is so sick. I can see why someone would sample it.
Fallout without any bad guys
so atmospheric love love this man!!!
Mindhunter anyone?
Freaky fellow, my friend liked Cars for a while, and we used to talk about it; God bless u for posting such a haunting piece of synth art
Saying anything is "ahead of its time" is, in itself, a bit of a misnomer. The present is. The future isn't. The past's meaning is subjective. It's a problem.
this is pure sonic excellence
*Damn ! that's basement jaxx sample ! WHERE'S YOUR HEAD AT !!! XD*
Cool double breasted suit jacket Gary
Still listening 2037?
Basement Jaxx sampled this!
And while I'm here lets talk a sec about Cedric Sharpley. Legendary Numan drummer.
What a feckin brilliant piece of music.
I'm listening in 2020,2030,2040,2050... ------->
Not paranoid at all.
someone should mixed the vocals of this with the beat with where’s your head at might spice up the song
É troppo bello
Who's listening to this gem in November 2019? (just getting ahead of the curve)
Then and now
January 2020
Underated was top of his game late 70s early 80s up there with Bowie kraftwork
Didn't a US rapper use this music in one of their songs back in 2005?
Not sure about a US rapper, But Basement Jax sampled in their song 'Where's your Head At'. Though that was more '01 rather than '05.
Thank you Gary
At 1.25 x speed i cant tell where my head is at...
Where's Your Head At by Basement Jaxx
Bill & Holden 😍

According to Numan, the title stands for “Mechanical Engineering.”.
The song M.E. is sung from the point of view of the last living machine on Earth. The people have all died, the planet is laid waste and its own power source is running down, I used to have a picture in my mind of this sad and desperately alone machine standing in a desert-like wasteland, just waiting to die."

this guys knew about the future... 1979...2019....
