I've come to the conclusion most of Gary's stuff is pretty darn lame, but when he has made quality music it is really good. This is one of his boring, lame songs, imho. Really no talent needed to write or sing this song. No disrespect.

Love this song. For some reason, it ended up in a dream I had last night (no shit, swear to God) and I ended up singing it in my head during and when I woke up. Some people have met people from other places, planets...some haven't. Maybe Gary is one of us...

Most people remember this great singer from the late 70s and 80s, with great hits and concerts that were incredible. Its great that hes going on, lets hope he keeps going.

I dont know for sure, i admit i never seeked out much info about him. I guess I just deduced from his lyrics in his many albums.

@bloodyhell He's strongly atheist. I 'read' the song as looking at 'reality' from a believers POV and then saying 'I don't believe that'. Plus good writers can write about stuff they fundementally disagree with and make it sound like they agree - its one of the skills that define good writers of any kind.

It's kind of funny, and kind of beautiful. Trent Reznor's biggest musical influence in music was Gary Numan. And as time went on, it seems like Numan picked a few things up off of Trent.

All of Gary Numan's music is very dark, I've been a fan since the song Cars came out in 79. Most of his music is excellent some of the newer stuff sounds like Nine inch Nails but it's still pretty good. I saw him perform live in 1980 in the Palaidum in Manhattan he was and still is great.

This song makes me think of being marooned on a dying alien planet, far off in the cosmos... and like, I'm sitting out by myself in a desert watching the sun fade out in the sky with every passing moment, and the natives are just running around in a panic while I sit there and just kind of watching it all.

I hate this "underrated" word. I don't give a /you know what/ about other people underrating the bands and the music I like. The only thing t hat happens is that people who underrate my favs are sadly underrated by me.
I rate my stuff, I love my stuff, I love Garys music. That's what counts.
