I'm approaching 40-years-old and I still listen to NOFX. Kids today are probably still having the same stupid fucking arguments about the same shitty bands and what is or is not punk rock and why it is or is not dead. Same thing applies today as it did back then - you can go fuck yourself. The ironic thing about even having this kind of gate-keeping over NOFX is that they are still one of the first and only independent DIY punk rock bands who were able to make shit loads of money while maintaing total control over their music. I can't even name another band playing today who can say this. Jawbreaker maybe? They suck big clown dicks, but if they are still on their own label and making Fuck Money, good for them.

This song was written because NOFX was getting played on the radio when they didn't want to be on the radio. Hence the "You can't play this song on the radio". Sure they poked a little fun at pop bands, but that doesn't mean they want to be like blink 182. Every NOFX song has a point and that's why they make music they enjoy. They're not trying to be like anybody else, or achieve anything to do with sales or popularity.

Blink sucks nofx is like 20 times better than blink is :P 

It's a choice. If you're singing about throwing up at parties, you are not gonna be making hit songs, but if you just make it about how it sucks to be a teenager in general, you got the girls on board and then your shit is going to sell. NOFX knew this from the beginning. So did Blink. Personally I take throwing up over whiny teenagers any day.

The term "keep it real" really applies to all sub cultures. There's always a certain way you do things according to the culture or else you're a poser. Hip hop, punk, dubstep (in the beginning), hipsters (the real ones from the 50's). Often rooted in poor self esteem, you can feel better than others because they are the posers, you are not. It's extremely silly. We all agree that it's good music (or literature)

All genres have good and bad music. And all genres that become popular becomes watered down by artists trying to apease the masses by focusing on the catchiest easy-to-like elements. RocknRoll Punk Metal all became soft and overproduced. Trance drowned in synth hooks, dubstep drowned in farting basslines and house became the cheesiest music of all time in the 90s (in a good way). I guess its extra annoying with punk because the whole point is to be anti-mainstream. Still i love blink 182 and i think the sex pistols and ramones suck. On the other hand, blink sucks live and id much rather see sex pistols (or anal cunt).

nah, it goes further back than that. especially during the please play this song on the radio-harmony part you can clearly hear the stabs at Jawbreaker. who were a great punk band but really got the brunt of the "scene" when they started to actually sing and released Dear You and tried to become commercial.

NOFX never sold out. They've remained on an indie label this entire time. They left epitaph when the label itself sold out. They told MTV "fuck you" when they asked to air their music videos. ANd theyre successful. Blink 182 is the definition of corporate rock. Look up sellout in the dictionary and you see a picture of them. And they have the GAUL to call themselves a "punk rock" band, which they do all the time. FUCK THEM. They can all go shoot themselves

Nowadays, Blink wouldn't be considered classic, they were formed in 1992. NOFX would be, because they were formed in 1983, almost a full decade before them.
