This album was the soundtrack to my first year of high school. I was in love and stupid and high. And I was such a loser. This song in particular was my favorite and it really takes me back. OK, this is my story with this song:


First heard it one summer day of beach on the radio, that was August 17th, 2017. Instantly liked it and shazamed it. That was a good day, I remember it funny an joyful and all of that.


Well, I just arrived home after a couple hours visiting some fabulous beaches of Mallorca coast, it was about 17.30-18.00 that August 17th, and I found out there was being a terrorist attack in Barcelona. I cried as my thoughts brought me back to Las Ramblas when I visited them with a loved person some years before. Well, that event was the trigger of three months of an absolute sadness that invaded me 24 hours a day; many things that I had been years containing in my mind exploded. I really feared I was near a clinical depression, but all that shit culminated in a chain of dramatic events which I could manage to get myself fortunately released.


Although I had to move my ass in order to rescue myself from that kind of depression, I know there's something that was crucial for me to get ahead: I never lost my sense of humor. Even when drowning in my tears, I was able to make fun of myself. And hearing this song ("That's me inside your head!"—seems my depression and its causes talking directly to me) always remembers me that bittersweet day of beach and the life lesson I got from those dark months. Life is a joke and that's the best way to take it!

I remember the exact moment this song (and the whole album) changed my life: there I was with 15 years old giving this "NOFX" band a chance since I was bored of listening to old school punk bands. First it was silence, but then, the intro riff kicked off outta nothing and scared the shit outta me (I was wearing headphones). At that moment, I fell in love with this band.

I miss my skateboarding days.. Back when I still had some amount of hope for the future.

As I sit listening to this song at age 38, in the year of our Lord 2019, I am reminded of friends whom I loved with all my heart but will never see again. I'm reminded of the first girl I ever fell in love with from across the hall, Cassie Engles with her creepers and pink hair and BR Against the Grain Tee-shirt hiding her b-cup breasts and red plaid pants showing the early curves of womanhood on her Thin, elf-like teenage frame. I loved her so much that it felt like my heart would burst what I stared at her in those stolen moments. Too scared to ever say anything because I didn't want to ruin perfection, and couldn't bear a reality that might include her rejection. She became one of my best friends instead, and years later she would tell me she knew i was looking and prayed I would say something to her. Not destiny that was planned, and I know now that I would have crushed her, had I ever held her in the palm of my hand. She gave me something better, integers that equated to more. As a gift of admiration returned, I settled her ultimate score. He knew when he laid hands, in jealous anger, against the sanctity of her 103 lbs form. He knew the last chapter was not yet written, and someday, unforeseen then, that he would have to face the storm. A Storm borne of weather he created, I came Swift and Violent as the destiny he himself had sealed, with hand his own had fated. For indescretions against my ideal, well oh what a terrible wrath he did feel. With crusbed orbital, with mandible shattered, with retina detached and a rib cage lay scattered. He lost his sight in one, depth perception in other, and privilege of mastication suspended for months, replaced by Ensure shakes fed through drinking straw to him by mother. I sit now in my cell, and when the music stops I can hear prison shackles with their clinking and jangles, but it's still beautiful music to me, because no one is granted clemency, who harms my Miss Engles.
