Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - Both Sides Now Lyrics
Rows and floes of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons ev'rywhere
I've looked at clouds that way
They rain and snow on ev'ryone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way
I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
It's cloud illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all
Moons and junes and ferris wheels
The dizzy dancing way you feel
I've looked at love that way
But now it's just another show
You leave 'em laughing when you go
And if you care, don't let them know
Don't give yourself away
I've looked at love from both sides now
From give and take, and still somehow
It's love's illusions I recall
I really don't know love at all
Tears and fears and feeling proud
To say I love you right out loud
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds
I've looked at life that way
But now old friends are acting strange
They shake their heads, they say I've changed
Well something's lost, but something's gained
In living ev'ry day
I've looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all
I've looked at life from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all

Long time ago, some tv program had this tune as trademark. Although i had to rise early the next day, i stayed uo to listen to this song. Later i found the album and i was over the moon.

Absolutely gorgeous acoustic intrumental here
Sorry, but I WAS GOING TO beg to differ from 'Bosco' and 'Steve'. I HAD the album, (2 CD's), and i'm SURE it stated 'Merle Watson' (son of Doc Watson), as the guitarist. But you are RIGHT !!!!!! Hmmm... Been praising the wrong person for years !!!
Have a look at....

"Earl Scruggs" son....... You live and learn...
Mind you, none of them were 'permanent' N.G.D.B. members, but often sat in to 'Jam' with them.
This is Merle Watson, not Nitty Gritty.
Isn't this Merle Watson, Doc's son?
I enjoyed this, very melodic.
I think this is still my favorite instrumental of all time... I had the album when it came out and it still makes me weep.
Me too.
Beautiful
Yeah, the player is Randy Scruggs, Earl's son. He was hanging around when the first Will the Circle sessions were recorded. The guitar is in open G. He was 18 or 19 at the time.
Open G! Wow that explains a lot! I am not a great player, but this one puzzled me some... The best part about this song is the fade in IMO... :-)
the guitar player is Earl Scruggs son.
the best ever
