Nina at the height of her powers before her descent into race hate, over produced albums and endless rants.

I discovered Nina just as I was leaving him, after 20 years together...I, too didn't know what to say. Perfect song on so many levels that couldn't be articulated by my (then) speechless self.

But don't..  we were soulmates, but life changed us. I loved and respected him too much to just go...but what do say when you NEVER had to explain how you felt? Don't smoke in bed epitomizes the 'knowing' we had, good and bad. Perfect song in that respect. It's been 10 years and I have found strength and freedom through Nina.

@101Blitz101 I think you are mistaken, the version on Little Girl Blue isn't live and this is too slow. I think I have this version on another vinyl but can't quite remember which...

I've searched for this song about a year ago on YT, and haven't found it...and I was too lazy to make a video in windows movie maker...but thank God, you were not! :D thanks for posting...it can't get much better than this! :)))

This song was first sung by Nancy Sinatra on her Boots Album. Nina gives it her special Blues sound! I like the version on The Best of Nina Simon rather than this version. Nina, however, could never sing badly, anywhere! Listen to “Plain Gold Band” if you like “Don’t Smoke In Bed”! Check out Irma Thomas too, from New Orleans, in the ‘60’s. Wish Someone Would Care is title song on album, but they are all good if you like the “Blues”! Ella Fitzgerald made it “big” (for her time) but was taken advantage of like SO MANY artists in that era. Particularly, black AND female. A double whammy. I live about 20 miles from where the great Bo Diddly is buried. He was far from wealthy but raised a great family, with NO MONEY coming from his historic and groundbreaking Music!!!!
