Nik Kershaw - I Won't Let The Sun Go Down On Me Lyrics

Forty winks in the lobby, make mine a G&T
Then to our favorite hobby, searching for an enemy
Here in our paper houses, stretching for miles and miles
Old men in stripy trousers rule the world with plastic smiles

Good or bad, like it or not
It's the only one we've got

I won't let the sun go down on me
I won't let the sun go down
I won't let the sun go down on me
I won't let the sun go down

Mother nature isn't in it, three hundred million years
Goodbye in just a minute, gone forever, no more tears
Pinball man, power glutton, vacuum inside his head
Forefinger on the button, is he blue or is he red

Break your silence if you would
Before the sun goes down for good

I won't let the sun go down on me
I won't let the sun go down
I won't let the sun go down on me
I won't let the sun go down

I won't let the sun go down on me
I won't let the sun go down

I won't let the sun go down on me
I won't let the sun go down
I won't let the sun go down on me
I won't let the sun go down

    Darren Stephens

sazu bun I think he looks pretty cool in this. Some of his other vids, his hair is huuuuuge, lol.

  62. YeetMeatToFeet

1:29 What iss he saying? I hear it like "Fuck humen inside his head"

    Tom Livanos

"Vacuum inside his head". In other words, the person is unable to understand reason.

  63. ICKY STICKY MIKKI PICKY

    WONDERFUL!!!!

    Paul William's

    MIKI-WAWA best song ever

  64. MithranArkanere

Nik Kershaw sounds better at 1.25 speed for some reason.

    xapt3r5

    You mean, at real speed??...

    Sal Paradise

Trust me, they messed about with the tempo a lot and I think they tweaked it enough in the studio. 1.25 may sound novel, but it doesn't have the dynamics of 1.0. The reggae feel has to have that back-beat and when you speed it up too much it loses its feel. Man.

    xapt3r5

    trollosaur much?

  66. 48firefox

Yes better than the original and one of my favorite tracks by Nik, also this song relates to me being a sun worshiper , fuck all this crap about skin cancer I've been doing it all my life and at the age of 69 don't care anymore

    xapt3r5

Dude, I mixed in a remastered audio track from late 90's, too bad the vídeo source hasn't been improved as well. The sun is great, I love it too, laying in the beach for hours and all... But, it can damage your skin for sure. A proper sun screen will always get you through, regardless of how much you care about it.

  67. laz7301

    Very quality audio!!! thanks

  70. Josiel de Assis

Justin Bieber gets millions of views for the shit he cranks out and this has less than a million. People don't know good music.

    xXFallenAngel093Xx

    So true

    Paul Roberts

That's because there's many versions of this, all over youtube including 12" versions & remixes, where Bieber probably has only 1 version that everyone flocks to

    All Appliances Repair and Service

    You are soooooo right !!!
They just don't know anything about music !
The 80's were and stay the best ,while today it is pure garbage!

No way!!! serious!?? Level 42 Mark King?

  75. Ian Turner

I think of that bastard Trump when he says old man in stripey trousers rules the world with plastic smiles. I won't let the sun go down on me the line reminds me of Hillary not letting pneumonia bring her down.

    DesertRose122

Clinton is far worse than Trump, believe me.

  79. maria adele

haha; listening to this is taking me back to  80's when I was a hairdresser and doing mens and ladies hair; and I did do a lot of hair cuts like this for men. What a great time that was.

    DesertRose122

I know this is an old comment but hey whatever lol...I love 80s hairstyles...men looked great back then, innovative, creative and stylish compared to now!

    Doro Jessy

I was so fond of Duran Duran's hairstyles...

Wouldnt it be good still stands up, but this a few stupid gibberish lyrics mixed with a repetetive tune. Fucking rubbish really, but i loved it at the time.

    Brian Jackson

I respect your opinion. Let me just say that imho, representing as it does both the anxiety of Europeans as Reagan threatened to bring the world to war AND the irrepressible hope of the British, this may be one of the most significant lyrics of the 80s, and part of the most lyrically intelligent and musically complex albums of the 80s.

    kenny P

+Turaco15 My nephew who's in his teens loves it i.e. still a great pop song.

    john jordan

    Well put Brian :-)

    xapt3r5

+kenny P Goes to show that some music is meant to be tímeles, the greatest music...

    xapt3r5

+john jordan "gibberish" is often overrated. One can label something "gibberish" that one does not fully understand and yet that alone, barely proves whether that something has any meaning at all, or not.

1980's So glad I grew up in this decade. I hate everything in this current era.

    Kevin Bond

I grew up in the 80s 90s and top music back then the era of today is crap bring back the 80s any day

    Doro Jessy

I'm also glad I grew up in the 1980's decade, can't stand this current era either.

    3DPeter

@Doro Jessy I was 17 when this song came out, and i just left school and it felt as if my life had just begun
because i didn't like my teen years and going to school, so i did feel free at last because school is out forever!
And then this song came out that summer and alot of other great music ofcourse, and i always had the radio on
beause music was half my life and going out in the weekends was the ultimate thing in my young life,
so the 80's was the best decade ever! Both my parents were stil alive, and so was my entire family
and i stil lived at home, so i had no bills to pay and every penny i earned with work was for me only
so i could buy a nice car and go out each weekend, and i had a few girls i had alot of sex with,
and had a ton of fun with my friends, so the best days of my life. Now 35 years later my friends
aren't my friends anymore for almost 20 years, the music sucks, going out sucks, and my health
sucks because my back is worn beyond repair and i have to swallow pills for the rest of my life,
and the entire world has become a giant mess because we now getting flooded with so called
refugees who turn the west into a mess with those fucking terrorist everywere, and also people
are more violent and became assholes, and life in common became expensive, because in the 80's you
still could by an afortable house, and pay it of within 20 years, and your wife didn't need te get a job
so a man could pay all the bills with his salary, and now you need to get married when you're under 25
and both need a job because paying of a house is now a lifetime job. And for 100 bucks i had
a shopping kart stuffed to the edge in the 80's, and now i have two plastic bags for the same money.
    A pack of sigarettes were 3,50, now it's 10,50. A beer in a disco or bar was 1,75, now it's almost 3 euro's
and you may no longer smoke in a disco or bar, so going out sucks these days, so i'm glad that i
was a teen when the 80's started, because i lived through the best days this planet has ever seen.
Also the 90's were great, but a little less great than the 80's, because we got older and got
girlfriends who wrecked friendships, because they wanted to settle down and no more going out
each weekend, so the fun days were over alright, and we all became tax slaves for the goverment,
because now we had to start to live on ourselves and pay alot of bills, so work, work and work
and now we are glad when we get home at 5 and sit on the couch and do nothing, because
we don't have the energy that we had in our younger days, so we all became dull and boring
old farts with no energy left. Hell, i wish that someone would make a time machine, because
i would love to go back to the 80's and stay there forever, because i hate the present we live in!

    Doro Jessy

    @3DPeter So do I, it's terrible times!!!

    All Appliances Repair and Service

    I'm with you in %100!

  84. Keith Nicholls

    Love this song

  85. nightwalker83

I wonder what his inspiration was for writing the song?

    a4d7b4b57fs6

Pretty much lol, but i think 80's was clearly better. There is some good music out there now, but miniscule compared to the 80's imo.

    Frida A

+nightwalker83 As I can recall, Nik didn't have any message in mind when writing this song, he just wrote whatever he could come up with. He did it with this and The Riddle, and probably some other songs. I'm not 100 % sure but that's what I remember. Anyway this song is great.

    xapt3r5

+Frida A "The Riddle" is awesome! I just love it! :P

    Does anybody know the chords?

  90. Jorgen H

you know, the song is from 1984, not from 98 :)

    Bentein Bjerke

You grew up in an awesome time, Bob.

    Mao Zedong

Yes insane poverty and unemployment in the west, terrible environmental problems holes in the ozonlayer, horrible famines and wars all across africa. What a time to be alive. "Awesome time bob" . Just cause the music was so much better doesnt make those decades good or awesome; they were a horrible struggle for billions of people.

    EuroMusicFreak&Beyond

It's worse now than ever and we've forwarded 30 years Mao, so i'd sooner go back to the 80's than now

  91. Silviaxx

    So original! :P
