Night Ranger - Reason To Be Lyrics

All of our lives we look through windows
Wondering if there's a chance we'll see
All of our ways and all of our footsteps
Are leading us back to our reason to be
They're leading us back to our reason to be

I once was a lad with great expectations
Smiling and showing their future to me
And now I'm a man I see more than ever
You leading us back to our reason to be
You leading us back to our reason to be

[Chorus:]
Our reason to be
Our reason to be
Everybody's got to have a reason to be
A reason to be
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Come on

Oh, hundreds of lives and thousands of faces
Have been to the island
Where dreams don't come free
And now I suppose
I need more than want them
To lead us all back to our reason to be
To lead us all back to our reason to be

[Chorus]

Come on, come on, yeah

[Chorus]

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

And now I'm a man
I see more than ever
You're leading us back to our reason to be [3x]

  1. D.... V....

    A good song so underrated

  2. D.... B....

this song only went to #48 on the mainstream rock charts in 1989!!!

  3. C.... W....

I hear some "Let him run" and "Secret of My Success" here and there throughout. The second track on the album starting out like a ballad may not have been the best course of action. I would have rather heard the song start heavily rocking and end with the acoustic outro.

  4. N.... ....

Yeah dude....it was underrated when it came out....obscured by Sister Christian I guess 🙄

  5. M.... F....

This is my SECOND favorite song from this album!  (The first, is: "Halfway to the Sun.")

  6. M.... F....

    They are my FAVORITE band!!

  7. m.... v....

So awesome. The beginning sounds like Filter's Take a Picture which came out years later.

  8. c.... ....

    Criminally underrated song

What makes you think I'm not chill? But hey..thanks for the advice. I would think "Big Life" was their bomb...even though it had the movie track on it. If it weren't for the movie, we wouldn't know ANY tracks on it. NR was already on the downhill slide by Man In Motion. As was most 80's rock. It's called Guns n Roses.

  10. P.... ....

Commercially it was their stinkbomb, of the '80s ... But I didn't say it was a bad album, so chill.

  11. S.... K....

"Stinkbomb"? What do you mean? I think either you like it....or you've never heard it. How does that make it stink? How do people that never heard it remember it stinking?

  12. l.... r....

    yaouuuuu

  13. C.... B....

this CD is so good but I never listen to I Did It For Love that much.

@JeffLeather i know its such a shame i love dawn patrol, midnight madness, seven wishes, big life too me was a dissapointment i think secret of my success should of been just left for the film and excluded from the album as i feel there was enough room for the album to create lots more songs and i love man in motion but just a shame they broke up still damn yankees are awesome too but thats another band entirely.

This brings back memories of my first year out of high school, and I agree this ought to have been the lead single. But MCA starved Night Ranger of their hard rocking roots, because of their Top 10 ballad successes with "Sister Christian" and "Sentimental Street." I got into them around "Seven Wishes," and saw them in 1987 for "Big Life." After that, Night Ranger were eclipsed by Whitesnake and GnR. I have noticed that MCA also did the same thing to Triumph in 1986-7.

I love Night Ranger and Triumph to this day! I saw both of them in concert in 1982 :)

Incredible! Thank you very much for having this one here, mike!

  17. J.... R....

Probably my 'ultimate " theme song"'.... Do you have a reason?????

  18. P.... ....

Great song!! I remember thinking at the time their record company screwed up, by not putting this out there at some point ... "Did It For Love" was a good song and all (written by a guy named Russ Ballard), but there were already enough ballads on the radio in 1988! The Man In Motion record could've had a different fate (than being remembered as the Night Ranger stinkbomb)

  19. r.... ....

Forgot how much I loved this song. Thanks so much for the HQ recording! Great underrated band

    me, too!
