Nickel Creek - Tomorrow Is A Long Time Lyrics

If today was not an endless highway
If tonight was not a crooked trail
If tomorrow wasn't such a long time
Then lonesome would mean nothing to me at all

Yes, and only if my own true love was waiting
If I could hear his heart softly pounding
Yes, and only if he was lying by me
Would I lie in my bed once again

I can't see my reflection in the waters
I can't speak the sounds that show no pain
I can't hear the echo of my footsteps
Or remember the sound of my own name

Yes, and only if my own true love was waiting
If I could hear his heart softly pounding
Yes, and only if he was lying by me
Would I lie in my bed once again

There's beauty in that silver singing river
There's beauty in that sunrise in the sky
But none of these and nothing else can touch the beauty
That I remember in my true love's eyes

Yes, and only if my own true love was waiting
If I could hear his heart softly pounding
Yes, and only if he was lying by me
Would I lie in my bed once again

Reduce the speed to .75 and it is a lot more bluesey. Her beautiful voice also deepens slightly.

    Beautiful....

  4. C.... C....

Soft pretty voice but not yet capable of conveying the words and emotions beneath them. You have to experience them or have an almost painful empathy.

  5. R.... R....

    Fabulous version!

This is just ONE of my favorite BOB DYLAN songs...there are SO MANY!!

Too fast for me, but dragging out songs is far worse. I really don't like the fashion for woman singers to sound like four year olds. I reduced the speed to 90% and lowered the pitch by three semi-tones - sounds much better. The voice is still rather affected but it's a lovely version.

It's not a "fashion" for woman singers to sound like four year olds. That's *what her voice sounds like.*

Am I the only one who thinks that this version is better than the Dylan's original version? No offence intended to the dylan lovers out there.

Bob Dylan is an amazing songwriter and lyricist, and he deserves his legendary status. But my goodness, I cannot *stand* his singing voice. It sounds like somebody taught a weed-whacker how to form words. I'd rather listen to nails dragging across a chalkboard. But his lyrics are pure poetry, so I tend to really like his songs when they're being performed by other people.

This is better than Elvis’ version and Dylan’s put together.

If I had not heard this song by Nickel Creek, I would never have discovered their great talent...  GREAT Dylan song....Better than HIS!

Best I've heard since Rosalie Sorrels

I LOVE nickel creek, but I don't think this version really does justice to the heartbreak in the lyrics. It's supposed to feel aching and lonely and this feels... warm and fuzzy. :/ It's beautiful but just doesn't fit the song in my opinion.

+Emily Wilkerson It's a different interpretation. Have you heard the Michael Jackson song 'Billie Jean'? A singer named Chris Cornell recorded a cover version of that song, his version is a tragic ballad, and it *works*.

    i agree with ya emily
