This song is really bittersweet. A wonderful woman introduced me to it right before we cut off contact.

I love Nickel Creek and have a huge crush on Sara.. Its extremely tough to keep a band together for over 25 years.  I love this song more than some of Thile's songs... but I never stray far from this band.

Once it was all 'Mountain Music', then along came Bill Monroe and you could only play 'Bluegrass' HIS way, Ask the old Seatrain fiddler. Time, if not Justin Chambers, has moved on. Music evolves. More power to Nickel Creeks elbow(s). Richard Greene rode Bill's old bus in the sixties, and I saw him open for Traffic with Seatrain, playing electric fiddle. That is musical evolution. No boundaries.

@justin chambers Who has made any claim that they are a bluegrass band and why is it an issue? I am genuinely puzzled as to why people feel so compelled to post comments like yours. Are you operating under the assumption that we were all waiting for you to pass judgment on something as subjective as music? My guess is that you are one of those people who speaks, or in this case posts, before they think. So it sounds like pop, so what. I assume in your world that musicians are allowed to pick a single genre or style and then must not stray outside of that specifically defined style for the rest of their life? Oh well I can take comfort in the fact that even were you to repeat your post millions of times it would still be just as irrelevant as it was the first time.

I don't think anyone claims/believes they are currently performing bluegrass. They were formerly bluegrass, and damn good at it, too. But they've experimented with their sound each album, each time successfully finding a great new aural theme. I love this new sound, and I'm happy their back together. I'll listen to bluegrass when I wanna listen to bluegrass. 

@justin chambers everyone entitled to they're own style and take on different musical aspect of genres. Granted i'm not a huge fan of it. But calling it a sorry excuse is abit harsh. It's a well executed tune, and you know it.

Amazing.... people just discovering them. Stop listening to radio and listen to something better like XM or Sirius or even Music Choice which is on every cable system on the planet.

Been a fan since 2001, saw the video for 'this side' on cmt and was memorized by their unique style. Then luckily they played at a small stage at northern Illinois university where I went for undergrad. I've seen them develop as nickel creek and individually with 'how to grow a band' then punch brothers and Sean and Sara Watkins doing their thing. I really enjoy seeing them change over the years and will continue to listen attentively. So glad they are making music again. Ps- got my mando signed by Chris thile! I know your jelous, lol.

I was introduced to them around the same time 2001 or 2002 and then I saw them live at KFOG Kaboom in SanFrancisco sometime around then as well. LOVE THEM!!

Nickel Creek will be at Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival in Oak Hill, NY on 7/17/14. Last time was on their Farewell (For Now) Tour in 2007. But Chris has played Grey Fox many times with Punch Brothers & with Michael Daves. Big fun. Gorgeous music.
