Newton-John, Olivia - What Is Life Lyrics
What I feel I can't say
But my love is there for you any time of day
But if it's not love that you need
Then I'll try my best to make everything succeed
And tell me who am I without you by my side?
What I know I can do
If I give my love to everyone like you
But if it's not love that you need
Then I'll try my best to make everything succeed
And tell me what is my life without your love?
And tell me who am I without you by my side?
But my love is there for you any old time of day
But if it's not love that you need
Then I'll try my best to make everything succeed
And tell me what is my life without your love?
And tell me who am I without you by my side?
And tell me what is my life without your love?
And tell me who am I without you by my side?
And tell me what is my life without your love?
And tell me who am I without you by my side?

Newton-John, Olivia What Is Life Comments
ハリソンの歌だけどプレスリーが歌ってもハマりそう
Leave it to George.
really love ONJ ... not too sure about her rendition of this classic, though ... somethings are just better left alone ... only George could do this arrangement justice ... yep, but, I still love you Olivia ... you are (also) the best, just not so much on this one...
Both versions are good, though because George's was first he gets the thumbs up, just
fab remember this from when I was 12
What a great song, suits perfectly for a great voice like Olivia's!!!!
She is not a real singer ..
Love this version of the George Harrison song. Great arrangement and guitar playing too. I first saw Olivia in a promotion for her appearance in the film _Toomorrow_ and soon afterwards she was appearing on TOTP and Cliff's show (for Eurovision, with Long Live Love). Another year, she might have won, but Abba debuted with Waterloo. 'Nuff said!
lovely version.
awesome, didn't know Olivia covered this song. :)
I posted my number at 9:50 PM Chicago, time. You didn't call.
If you still have the number just toss it, I'm not expecting your call.
Darn.
Woman, you are breaking me in a million pieces!
I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH
...But
You don't need a disabled person next to you, really.
I promise, you don't need a man who's health conditions are bothersome; I'm hard to deal with.
Listen to me carefully, will you?
I drink water all day and most of the night.
I have to take medication to sleep, if not for that, I would never sleep.
You may not realize it, but baby, honestly, I could never be a burden to you.
Lilo, you are making me say things I do not want to.
I wanted to see you in person, unfortunately, you were unable.
I just don't know what to tell you. My words are hurting you, and for that, baby, a apologize. I don't mean to. But you must know the truth.
I love you, sweetheart. You know it's true, I really do...
Lilo, where were you when I needed you? 1978. Bring it back!
I want to start life all over ---- with you in it.
The original is better
lots of mixed comments here....... being in the uk in 1972 i 1st heard olivia sing this when i was just 14 years old ... i had the hots for her then when she appeared as a regular guest on the cliff richard show. george harrison never released this as a single here in the uk and altho growing up through the 60s and being a huge beatles fan as i still am today i never knew that it was written by george. i have many albums by the beatles but never followed any of their solo careers. as to which is the best version.... i think i like them equally
simon black Two of her early hits were covers from tracks on George’s album: If Not For You and What Is Life.
In the UK, What Is Life is the B side of My Sweet Lord.
Man, I knew it was a George song when it came out when I was 9. But then, Im an American, it was a huge hit over here. I never knw Olivia did it until today. Not a bad job, I always did like her
@Jeff Watts I didn't know What Is Life was a hit for George in the USA. I did know that Isn't It A Pity was the B side of My Sweet Lord over there.
Re Olivia, I'm currently trying - and failing - to get the 1974 original recording of I Honestly Love You for download.
Though I believe she has a better voice than Harrison, the music is sub par with this version. Harrison's has back up vocals which gives the song more energy. It would be great if someone could engineer all the best points between these two versions.
Olivia is the missing Wilbury Sister! Imagine her with Stevie Nicks and Bonnie Ratte (that slide guitar) produced by brother Jeff Lynne (whom she worked with on “Xanadu”)
Bonnie Raitt
Is this on any of her "Greatest hits" CDs?
Yes, it's on at least one import CD covering her early recordings, pre "Let Me Be There".
look Kelly Kapousky
Looks more like Doogie Howser, to me. Or, whatever the Blonde Guy's name is. Doogie In The Sky With Dustin Diamond. That's it.
The best thing she ever did, and I like it almost as much as the original. I still remember her performances of it on British TV in the early 70s and her captivating smile..
SU HERMOSISIMA VOZ SIEMPRE VIGENTE.
Lots of respect for Olivia Newton-John, for a time on the seventies I listened to her all the time. She really did do this song well, here.
Can I go back to the original version now?
A great version of George Harrison's great song.
I agree.Grew up with these great songs.
George's finest Album,in my opinion,Nice,Olivia! Love this track! Also,a great tribute to him..RIP,Sweet George.
this version of the song sung by olivia newton-john is amazing, i live in harmony with her amazing voice. i bet george harrison thought she pulled it off real great.
great version never knew it existed until today, thanks for posting
I thought she did this song well. She has such a pretty voice. I miss her older music.
Just does not compare to George Harrison's version.
Sam Toucan he wrote it for olivia
cartoon comedy no he didn’t George wrote and Recorded it In 1970 for his All Things Must Pass solo album , ‘What Is Life’ became the second single to be released from All Things Must Pass....Olivia covered the song in 1972
@cartoon comedy Actually, he wrote it for his buddy Billy Preston, then decided to record it himself.
She certainly rolled back the years in London the whole concert was fantastic. I just hope she does not take so long to tour over here again. The public here have always taken to her and treat her as British as she was born in Cambridge and moved to Australia when she was 5. Glad you enjoyed her performance in NC :)
Olivia perfomed a great version of this classic George Harrison song last wednesday night at The Royal Albert Hall :)
