When I was in the middle school, I listened to Jolene by Olivia. Her voice is amazing. The music is nice. Recently one of FB posted this song by Dolly Parton. Originally this is her song. I didn't know this is a country song. The lyric is simple but describes woman's feeling well. Amazingly I found Miley Cyrus is singing this song in YouTube. The acoustic sound is really nice.

Oliva, perhaps due to "Physical," never got the credit for her REAL voice and talent that she deserved.

Physical, the single, was catchy enough to get her on the pop stations and ensured everybody knew her name. My hope is that it led some folks to listen to all her other work. And there are some beautiful tracks on the Physical album as well.

This album is certainly a standout in Olivia's career. While I'm generally more fond of her up-tempo numbers than her ballads, this album's ballads simply have more momentum than many of her best-known slow songs. It really helps a low-tempo number if the song is generally a good one ... rather than just a mediocre tune that relies solely on the singer to bring it out of the mire. While the second half of the record is more solid than the first IMO, the album doesn't have any actual bad songs in it. It offers lots of musical highlights without overwhelming us with them. It's subtle without being anemic, and while it's common for such an approach to be done wrong, this record does it right every time. This album ... this album is one of the reasons I'm so fond of 1976. *So* fond of it.

Olivia's version is one of many covers of Dolly's classic. Jolene has been covered by more different artists than any song Dolly Parton has written.

IMO without doubt her most cringeworthy record. Surprised Dolly allowed her most beloved track to be covered like this. Newton john made some beautiful records but this ain't one of them.

Jolene - this song was versioned as a Dominican merengue song back in 80s. The result was a blockbusting theme by the Chicas del CanBoth versions are worth enjoying
