This song brings back a beautiful young lady who was pregnant and single. I met her in Triol, Austria in March 1987. She was beautiful. I went to be with her in late 1987 on military leave. I was to be with her again in the fall of 1988 but my parents got in the way. I lost her. I had the engagement ring and I was going to purpose to her and I lost her. I have not stopped thinking of her. I never had any children and I'm married now. I love my wife. The woman who I lost in Brighton, England I will never forget you, I won't. Every single time I go through a airport and roll out in my wheelchair I want to see her. but I know that isn't possible and it hurts. I have cried many times over the years. I truly loved and still love her. So to the beautiful sweetheart I lost in Brighton, England MERRY CHRISTMAS. I wish I could go back in time and change things but I can't. 🥰💖

I was crazy, in love with a girl when I was in 8th grade when this song came out. That feeling this song evoked in me has never left of unrequited love. I know how Charlie Brown felt about the little red headed girl.

This song was popular in 1974. I was searching, having just quit an acting troupe and enjoying my new-found freedom. I will never experience Autumn the same  way again. I moved to Iowa to start college in 1975 at the ripe old age of 25.  But this song reminds me that I was in love with life and knew something better awaited me than an acting career.

It is so true. Fabulous lyrics. You really ought to say it, even if the other person says no. Baring your soul; opening yourself to possibly great happiness, or great sorrow; heaven or hell. So many times I didn't say it. Perhaps missed opportunities. Now I'm older, I know it must never go unsaid. It is terrifying; a storm in your head and in your heart. But it has to be said.

And what if the girl you like is actually some 25+ years younger?
