Newsom, Joanna - The Fray Lyrics

Autumn of the ninth inning
And we drive straight through the crowd
First it was what I call quiet
Then it was biblically loud

You should have seen how they tumbled
You should have seen how they danced
You should have seen them all luscious and lean
As they flew by the seat of their pants

It was not the boilin' frustration
It was not that I cannot care less
It was not the face of that reverent place
In a horrible state of undress

I moved in a way I call mindless
I flatter myself and move true
I carved out a 'J' in the spectators' fray
Because that's just a thing that we do

Yes, I carved out my name in the ninth of the game
Because that's just a thing that we do

    Bottom of the ninth inning
At which I drive straight through the crowd
First, it was what I call “quiet”
and then it was Biblically loud

You should have seen how they tumble
You should have seen how they danced
You should have seen them all luscious and lean
As they flew by the seat of their pants

It was not the boiling frustration…
It was not that I cannot care less…
It was not the face of that reverent place
in a horrible state of undress

I moved in a way I call “mindless”
I flatter myself a move true
I carved out a “J” in the spectators’ fray
because that’s just a thing that we do

Yes, I carved out my name
In the ninth of the game
‘because that’s just a thing that we do.

she makes my heart happy and whole. the fear creeping on this day is quickly banished with the sounds of her harp and song. Thank you Joanna

Walnut Whales is an amazing thing. Joanna's voice is such a beautiful thing, while some people might not enjoy it as much, it's something that, once appreciated, is beautiful. Even in this raw, unedited version, I can't help but tremble at the innocence in her voice. When paired with the way she beautifully phrases her melody to match what she wants to say, her voice/harp combination is something that is truly unique.

I do love this part of youtube. No-one has compared anybody else to Hitler or told anyone to kill themselves. There is just appreciation of music. I think i'll stay here for a while

It's from her self-released EP Walnut Whales. I love it too! I hope one day she re-releases all of them. Her harp playing was so more intricate Bach then, seeing as it was all she had to work with. Nevertheless I adore her.
