Unpopular opinion ( I think) but I just don't get why people like the songs nowadays which is all about meaningless and materialistic things, not to mention the heavy auto tune. Joanna Newsom is an incredibly gifted musician and, as a singer myself, I cannot even begin to explain the complexity and elegance of her singing.

Funny. That's pretty much what I associate with this song as well. Probably has something to do with the album's release date last year. I had the album on repeat for pretty much an entire month and listened to it whenever I was driving home from work. Of course the images the lyrics evoke are also rather autumnal.

+Nome just check out her lyrics, there’s a website dedicated exclusively to her lyrics and there’s also a Stanford University English Literature professor who wrote a book-length academic book on her lyrics. If you have the vaguest idea about poetry, you’d understand that her songwriting skill (lyrics+composition) is WAY above Kate Bush’s. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love KB. But Kate seemed to have lost interest in the art of lyrics (which is such an integral part of the art of songwriting) after her first three albums and her writing grew increasingly lazy, which eventually culminated in the abomination of an album known as “The Red Shoe” (absolutely dreadful stuff)... people love KB because she’s more accessible to the mass audience

Her voice is certainly unique, I love it though. It's so refreshing!
