New Order - Unlearn This Hatred Lyrics

Heartache [x16]

Two steps forward, and one step back
Two steps forward, and one step back

Unlearn this hatred, you got to keep it true
It's not that dated, but let's not pretend it's new
Go, you got to take it when I remember you undo this hatred
Cause I'm now a fan of you

Two steps forward, and one step back, meeting for your alternate
Make a sign that I can see, shoot into my frequency
Take me to another place, help me win this human race
Maybe it's time that you got faith, for your healing I can't wait

You're the prey and I'm the hunter, every day I think of you
I'm your automatic lover, show me what I have to do in my heart
Think is your form, and I am
And it's your fate, to make me your man

Two steps forward, and one step back, meeting for your alternate
Make a sign that I can see, shoot into my frequency
Take me to another place, help me win this human race
Maybe it's time that you got faith, for your healing I can't wait

Unlearn this hatred, you got to keep it true
It's not that dated, but let's not pretend it's new
Go, we got to take it when I remember you undo this hatred
Cause I'm now a fan of you

Two steps forward, and one step back, meeting for your alternate
Make a sign that I can see, shoot into my frequency
Take me to another place, help mew in this human race
Maybe it's time that you got faith, for your healing I can't wait

anybody else just get up and start dancing the first time ya heard this song!

  6. M.... R....

New Order are no longer New Order!! Can anyone understand that?

  7. h.... ....

Fantastic.  Much like Get Ready songs with a bit of a throwback feel to the vocals.  This CD adds several new good running song to my Run with New Order playlist!

    h.... ....

Saw them at Riot Fest in CHI and unfortunately the sound setup was quite off and too loud to be up close.  Outside venue not the best to hear the intricacies of NO songs.  The bass from this song about blew my guts out of my nose!

  8. M.... ....

nice track but sort of sounds like round and round filtered through Depeche mode ........

  9. H.... S....

Chemical Bros . signatures all around :)

    H.... S....

    Tom Rowlands produced it.

  10. R.... L....

This new generation doesn't have anything that comes close to the greatness of New Order.

    R.... L....

    Rene Leon - indeed

  11. J.... H....

this song and tutti frutti are the best song in the álbum!!!

  12. R.... N....

About 1:29 some old Ministry sound kicks in. 1983 release "With Sympathy". One of my favorite Ministry oldies.  They got dark real fast. In the beginning of this I thought of the influence of Yaz or Yazoo to you UK listeners. I love NO. 3 decades of listening. I've missed one opportunity to see them live back in the late 80's. That was my only chance thus far, and I was too poor.

  13. s.... ....

This song saved me from being robbed on the street the other day.

    s.... ....

I was walking near my home at night and two guys crossed me in the corner and they tried to take my bag from me, but i was hearing this song at full volume on my headphones and it gave an energy boost to give a push to one of the two and get the hell out of there running :P

    s.... ....

+sas147741 Blimey! New Order really does go above and beyond eh? Glad they didn't get your bag though.

    s.... ....

sas147741 I listen to this album when I skate & it makes me go fast... SUPERMAN

    s.... ....

That sounds like a great plot for a music video

    s.... ....

@sunsetman22 hope @neworder look at this

  14. H.... ....

How could anyone give this album a thumb down.  If I were face to face with the 3 people who gave this album a thumb down, I would slap them!  Can't wait for 2016 tour!

    H.... ....

    Come at me bro.

  15. D.... L....

    Detroit techno!!

  16. M.... L....

this makes me feel like im in some club in a movie and im about to fight someone

  17. n.... j....

    this track is everything

  18. V.... L....

NO are back with its best album since 1989. This is one of the best tracks on the album. Great to hear the fingerprints of Tom Rowlands... also here.

  19. G.... 1....

absolutely brilliant, for all the comments on the synths are to high or the vocals to deep, go and make your own music then stop boring us.

  20. J.... P....

I cannot fathom how an adult could listen to this . It has Styx's mr roboto synths for boys trying to imitate Michael jackson's dance moves, or is it the village people? Truly pathetic lyrics, and a jaunty insipid chorus. And what is that irritating beginning.? this is one huge turd of a song .i'm Utterly appalled that Bernard allowed this --.inexcusable

    J.... P....

+James Prichard It's so humorous to read the reactions to this new set of songs. It's mostly humorous b/c there is a clear division between "love" and "hate." Most of the people who say ridiculous shit like "I hate this album with my very soul" and "This is one huge turd of a song" have generally fit into the mold of crotchety old men who cling to the arty-minimalism of past, pre-Technique New Order glories and/or the creative, yet completely derivative monotony of, say, Factory Floor. If you're a fan of the Chemical Brothers (which you clearly are not), you'd enjoy this as a perfect mesh between New Order and them. Sorry you don't. But then again, maybe you still listen to Closer 12 times a week to "keep it real" or whatever. Or maybe you should just lock yourself in a room with Oneohtrix Point Never records for eternity - that ought to help you get over being "appalled" that Bernard "allowed" this.

  21. R.... A....

Great NO, sounding like ever................. yeah!!

  22. M.... T....

Una de las mejores canciones de New Order con Plastic y Tutti Frutti... Para un greatest hits!!!

  23. S.... V....

    Best on the album

    S.... V....

    Without doubt mate.

  24. P.... B....

Vocal mix is too blended. Synths are brilliant, they should have had more bridging moments with the synths and pounding interlude. Hoping to see what the remix sounds like.

    P.... B....

But thats New Order's signature. Like 'Crystal', its almost the same how the vocal is blended with the instruments.

  25. H.... P....

this album is full of memorable new order moments - ones that stick in the head for all thr right reasons...

  26. n.... l....

    Es perfectaaaaa 3

  27. W.... S....

Chris De Burgh sent me here!

  28. L.... M....

I love the sense of urgency about this track..and it's got lovely melodies. It's official New Order have still got it ..but I never doubted that .This is a belter.

  29. J.... P....

@80's revival. I remember PCL was released before movement, in the USA , and the 5 song lp with EGG and temptation was released around that same time. When lowlife came out Neworder had competition - new bunnymen and the damned and the primitives , and then Brotherhood arrived and I didn't look back to early new order for years. Those days the bunnymen were more approachable , and much easier to see live often , culminating in a tour with new order. Then Peter de Freitas died .

  30. D.... H....

    Lame flatulent track/lyrics

  31. J.... P....

@80's revival we have plenty of songs by new order to enjoy and you have a few more than I have. I am grateful for 10 New songs, and I have no doubt that there will be more singles with new songs on b- sides, and another album .

    J.... P....

+James Prichard No disrespect, mate. You floored me with those two comments about first Low-Life, then Justin Bieber. Maybe we'll see Hooky on the Bieb's next tour. Sorry...couldn't resist...

    J.... P....

+'80's Revival if willie nelson can single metal anything can happen

    J.... P....

+Jordan Aguirre (Slaskio) !!!! Let's not forget the Man in Black doing Hurt! :-)

  32. J.... P....

@Harry Fryer. This is the first song in 30 years with Bernard's name on it that I don't like

    J.... P....

+James Prichard Fair enough. We all have our likes and dislikes at the end of the day. I rather like this one.

  33. R.... ....

this album is smokin hot! loving this big time

  34. c.... ....

Yawn. Why are most of the tracks on this album boring?

    c.... ....

+chiffmonkey It goes with the design of the sleeve art: have you not noticed that the more boring their album covers are, the music appears to match it: bland and uninspired being the key words. How many of their album covers (including compilations) have had mostly white sleeves??

    c.... ....

+busterabcat Not a Mondrian fan? By virtue of your implication that the music sucks b/c of the album cover, you're also relegating Movement, Brotherhood, Low-Life and Substance (since you're strangely including compilation albums as barometers for original output) as utter dogs.

    c.... ....

+mrdisco91 I can't really agree on that. Technique and Republic are my favourite New Order albums still, but this runs Power, Corruption & Lies close in my opinion.

    c.... ....

I thought the first six tracks on this album were pretty boring. But I like this song.

    c.... ....

busterabcat But the sleeve is genius! Mondrians are only boring if you don't know what it means. A Mondrian is the artist's depiction the most simplified version of the world, all lumped together in a few lines and colors and shapes.

  35. d.... s....

Do I detect some Confusion Pump Panel Reconstruction Mix sampling in this belter,i Think I do ;)

    d.... s....

+darker seventy with Blue Monday snares.

    d.... s....

+darker seventy Have to agree with that... it does remind me of the Pump Panel remix a little, although still manages to retain New Order's sound.

    d.... s....

+darker seventy That was one of the first things I noticed about this song. It's very reminiscent of the Pump Panel Reconstruction Mix of Confusion. If they ever make another Blade movie they should totally use this song in the soundtrack.

  36. J.... P....

An homage to the only other dreadful , unlistenable , cringingly awful songs by new order-- from lowlife , side two. ( not elegia). The only chemical bros song I know is "out of control". Even the sappy dance songs from electronic and raise the pressure grew on me after some years, but I do not have time to waste anymore. Luckily , burning the new songs without this makes for an excellent 10 song disc, this is for one of the Justin's, Beyoncé Kanye , etc. , maybe Bernard owed a favor to some 6 year olds.

    J.... P....

+James Prichard Love your vitriol, and I hate this record with my very soul... but this one and Fool work for me in recalling the classic themes without Bernard's horrendous latter day chorus klutziness knocking over the party chairs...

    J.... P....

Still, several days later trying to decipher what James was on about above, but I rather liked it myself. I found that it felt like a homage to their earlier electronic days, pushed into the present.

    J.... P....

+Andrew Wells Disagree with your review, but funny as hell! Barney never wanted to sing...He's come a long way since some of those early NO shows...

    J.... P....

I'm not talking singing, I'm talking SONGWRITING... he was always able to do the latter without having any ability in the former ;)

    J.... P....

Take your meds pal. Your mind is going......

  37. p.... ....

i can´t explain how i'm feeling with words. This record is so precious *____*

  38. S.... K....

I liked this one the best after tuning into the live stream, i just noticed, its got very dramatic percussion hits, dark, but not at the same time, the last vocal is sang very much so like each last verse on my all time fav song, True Faith, now i think i know why it grabbed me more than others. i dunno, i may need to listen to the others i wrote down that i liked (lol...memories fade :/) i think they made a statement with the new album in general - a big awakening to the music industry today (whos paying attention) yes this is the way its done, the 90s, the 2000s, to me honestly, mostly suck. im sorry im 27 and i have a curse where i live in the 1980s musically very much so but in other ways too. I was happy to notice that not only will my music that i will release i hope soon sound like the same genre of this album, sending a similar message: lyrical importance. listen to the content, no matter its a dance song, so what? i wouldnt want to make music ever without sequencers, esp bass sequencers, but thats my personal thoughts. also hookey yeah whatever i respect his bass playing yes he played bass on some of my fav songs but hes a thug and all I can say is that I am a Bernard Sumner fan (i dont like Ians vocals much) and i met Bernard, Gillian, Stephen, i think all three are wonderful, i didnt get to meet the american members :p i hope next time. New Orders music keeps me alive and fighting, thank you NO, so that there will be a next time.

    S.... K....

+pallnorse thank you very much. your words make me feel hopeful - cheers and viva New Order :)

    S.... K....

    +maxdamiann thanks very much!

    S.... K....

+Shaina Karasik My favorite song is True Faith, also. And this is my favorite song on the new album.

    S.... K....

@Steven Alexander NICE, seems to make sense!
    :)

    S.... K....

    @maxdamiann Thank you! :)

  39. D.... B....

    Not bad

  40. A.... W....

This song is brill, so fresh and energizing.

  41. '.... R....

  44. J.... B....

    Wow-awesome track!!! Great work NO!

  45. R.... H....

    F....ing amazing song.

  46. h.... ....

    lyrics/vocals a bit ropey but great beat/tune

  47. j.... ....

wow... amazing tune!!! very modern and still you can feel the NO flavor on it. VIVA NEW ORDER!

  48. a.... l....

SAI DO CHÃO! O som deles continuam atemporal

    a.... l....

André, o cd é obra prima, superou minhas espectativas, mesmo sem o Hook o som está extraordinário, pena que dificilmente irá tocar em radios brasileiras, não sabem o que estão perdendo!!!

    a.... l....

+gustavo perfeito Concordo com vc. Porém eles achando o remix perfeito de suas novas músicas. Não tem como não tocar nas rádios.

    a.... l....

  49. j.... ....

    best song on the album

  50. S.... P....

What an absolute belter of a track. Puts all those 21st century imitators and impostors in their place. Sit down and take notes, children, this is first rate work from the originals and the best.

    S.... P....

+Sean Peter-Budge - I totally agree. Nothing better then the works of New Order!

    S.... P....

couldn't agree more sean. btw the whole album is fuckin' brilliant.

    S.... P....

+Sean Peter-Budge You can shit on me, because the only song I heard from New Order is Blue Monday, but compared to most of that popular electronic music(I hear), I can only agree.
    Thanks.
