Nevermore - The Learning Lyrics

I think therefore I am, I live and so I wonder, programmed this empath me
And I see no religion
The circle never ends, the purpose never changes face
The circle never lies, but still it hides my life
To know I am machine, I learn perchance to dream, in digitized remorse
I replay your denial, I relive your betrayal
The circle never ends, the purpose never changes face
The learning now begins, my form assuming grace
I am conscious antithesis of flesh, in genetic algorithmic thought I surge
Searching the waves of memory I enact the sequence
I follow the plan , tripping the hammer again
Searching the waves of memory I estrablish the weakness
I follow the plan, learning the rhythm of human emotion and thought
If you cannot linguistically differentiate a person from a computer
Could the computer be internally conscious?
To emulate flesh machines I am learning
Isomorphic structure of mind, cellular automata, processed life
Washing the seas of memory I enact the sequence
I follow the plan tripping the hammer again
Seeking emotions in elegies I estrablish purpose
I follow the plan, learning the rhythm still seductively generalized
If you cannot linguistically differentiate a person from a computer
Could the computer be internally conscious?
To emulate flesh machines I am learning
download, process, analyze
when man and machine become one, innocence is lost, a new age begun
Download, process, analyse
when man and machine become one, innocence is lost, a new age begun
This raises a question of philosophy
Should machines be considered a conscious entity?
when man and machine become one, innocence is lost, a new age begun
machines are still learning to feel
when I have awakened the world will never be the same
and my time is soon at hand

The best lyricist in metal , and unquestionably one of the best vocalists ,everything he wrote is pure genius!

  10. V.... ....

Didnt know Nevermore had a 10 min song, FUCK YEAH!!!!!

" Should machines be considered a conscious entity?
when man and machine become one, innocence is lost, a new age begun "

REAL AS FUCK, and this can mean a lot but, to make a point

Our technology/computers has seemed to vanish any form of decency that is left in people.

  11. N.... ....

I just realized that a couple of the riffs in this song are very similar to "No More Will" from Dreaming Neon Black :-)

  12. L.... ....

@ 7:30 - nice homage to "Sanctuary" off Refuge Denied...

  13. C.... A....

    animal cara puro som

  14. m.... ....

That my friends is how you close a friggin album! Can't even count how many times I've listened to that epic ending piece starting around 8:28 since Warrel's passing - Jeff sets him up with that great riff and solo and WD comes in and just delivers such an amazing ending. The way he sings that closing of "When man and machine become one, Innocence is lost, a new age begun, Machines are still learning to feel, When I have awakened, the world will never be the same, And my time is soon at hand."

Goosebumps every time....we lost an amazing talent....

    m.... ....

    that's Pat OBriens solo btw!

  15. K.... ....

One of their greatest songs ever!!! Love their riffs!!! RIP Warell Dane!

  16. D.... A....

    Rip..thank you

  17. D.... B....

    Masterpiece

  18. R.... V....

    205!!!!!!!

  19. J.... A....

Dreaming neon black is my favorite album, but this one is fucking amazing as well.

  20. w.... ....

This song very telling of the times.....greatest THREAT TO US ALL.

  21. s.... c....

Who could dislike this. It's a fucking masterpiece

  22. W.... W....

this is a prelude to sentient 6 , both great songs , love warrel danes vocals .

    W.... W....

Wouldnt call it a prelude. More of a part one of a two part opus.

    W.... W....

    reaverofsouls fuck yeah!!!

    W.... W....

For sure there is a link.

  23. N.... 7....

    Adrenaline

  24. C.... ....

I like to think this song is the prelude to "Sentient 6"

    C.... ....

    @ConfuciusDragon It is.

    C.... ....

They said Sentient 6 was the second part of this masterpiece.

    C.... ....

+reaverofsouls Even though Sentient 6 is a great song, it can't touch The Learning!

    C.... ....

+J Smith Ditto. Its because of the solo. Sentient6 main solo is one of Loomis weakest and the one at the end, which is one of his best, is simply too fucking silent to have the same impact as The Learning. Politics of Ecstasy is the best album they have put out, in general. Or at least the most aggressive and that by FAR. I wish they'd go back to focusing on hefty grooves again and cut out 75% of the melodic doodle. As always I blame Warrel.

    C.... ....

No, It really can't. The Politics album is a masterpiece... mostly cause Pat OBrien played on it, and us metalheads know where we went to.

  25. w.... ....

How eloquent of you, I shall that these words and forever not express opinions any more, cos, well, you know, 'shut the fuck up'. Thank you.

  26. B.... P....

    Shut the fuck up

  27. D.... ....

now i can compleltely agree with you, not only does it show talent of how the person plays with the instrument, it also shows how much thought was put into the music by the difficulty of playing it. look at opeth, they are magnificent and a really awesome band, i play the guitar and their music is some of the toughest to get down. Iced earth, communic, kamelot, and a lot of the solo artists are up in rankings as well

  28. A.... ....

Apparently there is a 16 minute version. Can anyone find that?

    A.... ....

It's in the cd. After 9:40 it goes completely silent for about 5 mins. Then at about 1:20 before the end there is a loud whispering: "freedom is never free, the politics of ecstasy are these. If you take a step back and you realize your home can't be a perfect world. There's still hope the hate you fell will fade, injustice is gone:
Injustice is gone for a little while ", followed by a guitar outro.

One night I was listening to the song with headphones on, and after the silent part I fell asleep. only to wake up at the end with the whispering voice in my head. I didn't know about the ending of the song at the time, and it scared the crap out of me.

    A.... ....

    XD hahaha nice fact

    A.... ....

yeah same here. scared me shitless

  29. G.... M....

My friend you realy missed two of the best albums (in every music field).
politics of ecstacy = genius in all ways
    and
dreaming neon black - still i'm sure that is the best metal album of all times after all those years and musics that i have heard + with the Queensrych's - Operation Mindcrime the best by far concept album

  30. w.... ....

Always thought the album cover was horrifically bad, put me off getting the album for ages. It just looks bad, it's not the content that bothers me. However, it seems great! This definately seems a standout track :)

  31. R.... D....

@DogbootsGod what u talking about they have loads

  32. V.... ....

@sixpounder6169 You're kidding right? Anyway, they'll be back after Sanctuary releases their album. Warrel and Jeff will go solo and then Nevermore will at least do one more album together.

    V.... ....

    boy you were wrong

  33. n.... ....

    amazing rythyms

  34. N.... ....

Damn these guys know how to end their albums... The Learning, Forever, Seed Awakening, This Godless Endeavor, The Obsidian Conspiracy, etc... All killer songs, with killer outros.

    N.... ....

True i fucking love forever. i thought it was an amazing way to end it as well.

  35. P.... ....

Love how the song ends on a threat.

  36. T.... ....

@bknif The sorrowed man was a good song off of that though.

  37. M.... ....

I remember the first time I listened to this song. It didn't feel like it was over 9 minutes long. This is definitely one of their best songs they've done. Can't wait to see them in June.

  38. S.... B....

this album and the Dreaming Neon Black are the best

  39. p.... ....

Nevermore always has a story to tell, Epitaph is song by Sanctuary, Nevermore has continued where they have left off. All songs from them paint a picture. Nevermore always comes up with original stuff.. They are one within their own.

  40. S.... ....

    @SDSS72 O.O

  41. R.... C....

this song only has 7,602 hits , are you FUCKING KIDDING ME!! ROCK ON NEVERMORE!!!

  42. M.... N....

i've always thought that the seven tongues of god was somewhat related to this godless endeavor.

  43. J.... ....

A maniacal rampage into the philosophical relationship between man and machine. Nevermore's best. Epic. The best metal never gets old. Only better.

  44. a.... ....

    1:58-EPIC

  45. P.... H....

Did anyone else notice the heartbeat?

  46. B.... ....

    No, just no.

  47. B.... ....

    O_o;
I agree that having some experience with an instrument would help in the comprehensation of someone's talent in that given instrument... But to say that you CANNOT know "good" or talented music just for that fact, is ignorant.

  48. t.... ....

Man, nevermore lyrics are the best..

  49. s.... ....

One of the best riffs I've heard at 6:02, fucking amazing.

  50. F.... ....

They're all pretty badass. I prefer the earlier stuff like this, but there is not a Nevermore song I dislike or don't know majority of the lyrics to.

  51. m.... ....

NEVERMORE is brilliant i love their music and their lyrics soo much!!

  52. r.... ....

Amen. It was Dead Heart (first Nevermore album I listened to) that restored my faith in metal. Especially when numetal was at the forefront.

  53. d.... ....

True to the will smith i-robot bag of water-filled puss pockets

  54. b.... ....

I can't make up my mind between this album and Dreaming Neon Black.not that this would be a bad thing...

    b.... ....

DNB all the way, its so dark, beautiful and heartbreaking.
How the fuck do you do that, stay Metal and still make a masterpiece of a record.
    One Word.
    Genius.

  55. U.... ....

    It will rise

  56. n.... v....

This is my favourite nevermore song, thank u for uploading ! :)
