Nevermore - Enemies Of Reality Lyrics

We are the nothing grating against the norm
We are the something that will not conform
No one understands what we've been given

We are the useless by-products of soulless meat
We are all gone we all sing the same tragedy

Open wide and eat the worms of the enemy
We are the enemies of reality, in a world that's unforgiving

Waiting to sanitize bastard tongues
To purify the ignorance that hides the sun
The less you understand the more you're driven

Packaged and processed the masses are force fed
The standards they judge us on swallow the rot we shed

Open wide and eat the worms of the enemy
We are the enemies of reality, in a world that's unforgiving

Breathing dust and decay while I'm sipping
Human trust and betrayal
Losing faith once again
Take my hand my friend, my foe, I am enemy

Open wide and eat the worms of the enemy
We are the enemies of reality, in a world that's unforgiving
Open wide, eat the words, become what you most fear

    Stunning.

  2. DarkMetalMaiden

What's Not to like here??!!! SMH to the Haters who gave it a thumbs down! Warrel was a MASTERPIECE and the voice of Nevermore as well as Sanctuary! Joseph Michael was an AWESOME find for Sanctuary..he Kills it Live! 💀🖤💀🤘🤘🤘

  3. Voicecolors

Such an unique vocal. Metal singers just growl without any emotion. Warrel was so different. He'll never be forgotten !

  5. Scott Melton

Proud to be a metal head when I listen to this . Jeff loomis is a guitar god and the band is authentic to their shit... no compromises.

  6. Glacial Self

Dane is the one operatic metal vocalist I can stand to listen to. His voice has that menacing, threatening quality that I feel like most clean metal vocalists lack.

    Yiannis2112

So no Halford, no Dio, no Dickinson, no KD, no Tate, no Adams, no Martin, no Tyrant, no Albert, no Arch, no Oliva, no Rivera, no Messiah, no Kiske, no Midnight, no Wayne, no Alder, no Lowe, no Barlow, no Matos, no Allen, no Ripper...and no Scheepers for you then, right? It's saaaad... Very...My full sympathy for your loss. Condolences!

    What era is this band?

    El Dandy

1991-2011. This album is originally from 2003.

  10. Matt Hartstrom

Seem this band multiple times, they rocked every time.. Hung out with them studio 7, in Seattle for metal fest, nice guys to boot!

  11. Mongoosemcqueen

    The Protocols Of Zion

  17. Cyan Light

I'd like this but I can't in good conscience ruin the 666 and shame on anyone that does.

  18. antoniusmetal

Lots of people complain about Dane's vocals (RIP). I think it is extremely refreshing to hear a band this heavy and technical but with clean singing. He put lots of emotion in his vocals and wrote some of the best lyrics in metal.

    Guilherme Moreira

I realized I just needed time to absorb Nevermore's music. I'm 32 right now and this was something I used to complain a lot, Dane's vocals. Now that I have a more "refined" ear, as I've listened to A TON of things, I can appreciate it better. At this moment, I just regret not giving it a chance before.

    Drogoz o Ganancioso

is it true that people (at least on north america) complain about dane vocals years ago?

at least in south america (brazil, specifically) even if I showed Nevermore to friends that weren't accustomed with Metal, they liked/loved it

    Drogoz o Ganancioso

for me, he isn't the best technically, but is in interpretation and liking. Dane couldn't be bested on interpretation.

Dense, deep and emotional vocals on definition.

    Evan Evans

Dane has emotive vocals that when paired with his powerful lyrics just leaves a lasting mark.
Wouldn’t have the same appeal without him.
    Devastated when he passed

    AssKicker47

Nevermore so often sounds like death metal with clean vocals. So unique. Love it. RIP WD.

  19. Jace Desengel

what do i consider myself? an educated philosopher. best description i can think of.

  20. Steven

That solo part at 3:50 is pretty fucking nuts.

I've seen Jeff do it live and he has to squat down to get his hand in position to make the stretch.

  21. MIRAK

Holy fuck I never realized they remastered this album… million times better

  22. StereoDeth

This is truly a Nevermore signature song. Real classic among their classics! R.I.P. Darrel

  23. Fans forever TECHROME channel

The metal has lost a great friend and broders...
    R.I.P. WARREL

  24. Sándor Román

Warrell Dane was one of the last truly great singers.

  25. necroplastful

Rest In Piece Warrel. We loved you so much...

  26. Paul Ozz

RIP Warrel Dane... one of my favourite prog albums and albums ever...

    MetalWheel

    SEE MY COMEDY. CRACKADON1

  28. Robert Weiner

    BEST SHIT

  29. Oliver Guenther

I wish Loomis stayed, Arch Enemy sounds like shit, he could have been like Tonni Iommi (black sabbath) and been the band and carried on the name.

    Natas Kara

jeff loomis doesnt write his music in arch enemy so it makes sense

  30. Desdenova

    love the drumming!

  31. Andrew Carroll

Thank god for Andy Sneap. When I bought the original back in 2003 I thought the speakers on my stereo had blown because I couldn't believe they would release such a poor sounding record after DHIADW.

    Edward Chapman

Andrew Carroll Sneap is the man. Awesome songs that needed his touch

    Edward Chapman

Andrew Carroll It's a shame the original recordings of the drums weren't better though.. Van deserves better

    stone cold

Andrew Carroll yup Kelly gray shit all over it. How do u fuck up a band like nevermore

    Constant Colours

@Edward Chapman I actually love the drum sound of the remix version. Dry and sterile sounding drums are going perfectly well with the songs.

  32. Josh Amidon

fucking nevermore man. Good shit like always.

  33. Carlos Salazar

ese guey es una verga y media ,master great guitar player

  36. JackassHill

Warrel Dane is my fucking hero. This band does something to me that no other band can accomplish... Makes me want to start another band and sing again.

  37. Metal Detecting

This world certainly is unforgiving for defeating the 3rd Reich. Humanities true salvation.

Nevermore po zmianie nazwy i skladu to teraz SANCTUARY ten sam wokalista i ten sam basista.

  39. Android Android

Wersja po zremasterowaniu (zremixowaniu) ENEMIES of REALITY to prawdziwa thrash metalowa perełka, wokal brzmi bardzo przestrzennie i czysto . Instrumenty mają wyraźne i czytelne brzmienie a jednocześnie to dynamiczna i agresywna muzyka . MUZYKA ,ktura w gatunek TRASH METAL wnosi wiecej niż to co proponują inne bardziej znane zespoły .

  40. Allen Saunders

theres always one comment that spews hate because of musical disagreements why grow up people have different tastes in everything thats good

  41. Eric Stearns

I love how Warrel Dane always seems to be constantly on the edge of slipping into "harsh" vocals but he never does fully do it. I don't think any other singer this side of death metal can pull off pure hatred and fury as well as this guy.\m/

    Akhamesh

+Eric Stearns Russell Allen is actually very much like him in that aspect.

    Roger Winright

  42. TheSanityAssassin44

"there is no stronger drug than reality" You can hear it slightly in the background in the first 30 seconds

    Randy Van Meeteren

    Your username made me smile.

    Enstamskruvlos

    @Randy Van Meeteren
the sanity assassin is an old goth song

    DeathlikeSilence

If you reverse the 30 seconds you can hear "We are the useless by-product of souless meat in the background."

    talastra

You can also hear it in Noumenon as a lyric

    Jarrett

@talastra and Seed Awakening and Who Decides I want to say. I don't know about Who Decides but I know it is in Seed though. RIP Warrel Dane and Tim Calvert.

  43. Gonkosan Roberto

I've moved from metal a long time ago, but I will love Nevermore forever.

    WOLF STAR

    Gonkosan Roberto
I never know what to think of people who say "I've moved from metal" other than what idiots.

    eddthrasher

    Same here.

    David Stoker

What? Is it like some kids toy that you give up as you grow older? I've heard this numerous times from people, saying they've 'grown out of it like it's some taboo thing to do as an adult. I agree, I don't really know what to make of it. But whatever to each his own. I just don't have it in me to give up a whole world of beautiful kick ass music that I love. Stay metal 🤘🏼😲🤘🏼

    nostalgiacreep

people don't have to stay the same for ever, chill out

    Scott Ray

People that make that choice obviously are not true lovers of metal.I started with Eddie Van Halen when I was 7.The older I got,the heavier I wanted my music. Now I'm almost 41and listen to nothing but metal still.Mostly death, thrash and progressive metal. Not to mention 27 years of playing guitar.Age is just a number.LONG LIVE METAL!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘😈😈😈

  44. TheMetalwolf77777

the remasterd covor looks a hell of a lot better, i think, to each own

  45. Leonardo Araujo
