Nevermore - And The Maiden Spoke Lyrics
She was born in 1617
She tasted like the wind always chasing her dreams
She was a tortured soul in pain
She whispered this dark refrain
We are the cold and beautiful, you are the blue insane"
Sometimes she moves the chairs downstairs, and runs away
Sometimes she makes yourself known to those unawake
And the Maiden spoke
In stuttered streams
As if her soul was dead
She spoke of nothing
She is the deranged
Her sorrow drips the blood
Of the unfortunate and pained
She was a shameless soul stranded in the rain
Her redemption never came, as she slowly went insane
Sometimes she whispers in my ear
"There's nothing to be afraid of"
Sometimes she moves the chairs downstairs
And the Maiden spoke
In stuttered streams
As if her soul was gone
She spoke from the land beyond
And the maiden spoke to me
Sometimes you whispers in my ears
"There's nothing to be afraid of"
Sometimes you moves the chairs downstairs
And the Maiden spoke
Inside my shattered dreams
As if her soul was gone
She spoke of the land beyond
She was just another system slave
Just another system slave
Being led to the grave

being lead to the grave!!
downstairs is the cellar
For me , the most beautiful song of this album .
I saw an interview where he said it was Andy Sneap's farm house.
How you people know all this shit? :) Admire... Interesting reading indeed.. ;)
In my eyes anyway.
They disbanded.
Where Was The House? Just Curious.....
Wish there was a live recording for this song somewhere on YT. Would love to see the rhythm guitar work that is going on during the solo.
@plaguebearor damn dead people moving mah good furniture...
damn it, those were my good chairs
I really enjoy this song... makes a combo os sensations, relax and in the same moment make us shiver a bit.. a excellent song, for me my favourite one in The Obsidian Conspiracy album
This, She Comes in Colours and Blue Marble and New Soul are my top 3 and I can't split them.
this is their best album since DHIDW
@Fry1077 lol
I agree, Jeff Loomis was Nevermore...but he's not anymore so, let's see what changes W. D. will do with the band if they go on...Maybe Rusty Cooley as new guitar player? would be fucking sick imo!
iron maiden spoke
Iron MAIDEN spoke?
@ChildoftheThrash Yeah allright. We all know that Nevermore will not sound the same again if they recruit new ppl and continue with the band. I say, if you're a true Nevermore fan, you shouldn't give up and still support the band if a new lineup appears.
@NeoMetalx totally agree... JEFF IS NEVERMORE
@420megadeth Well as a narrow minded guitarist, Jeff is the only one I cared about* xD there is no doubt that they are all very talented.
@tehsprite Jeff is all they had dude... lol, he can't really be replaced.
@Vinegore i cant it understand too, these guys just annoying me
Where are my fucking chairs?
@ChildoftheThrash yah...it is true though Attila Voros sounds just like him...i cant really see nevermore without Jeff...i really really dont think Attila can replace him...
@tehsprite Jeff wrote pretty much ALL the music, though :\ Face it. They're done, man :(
@HogsBoysMavsCards They haven't broken up, a couple of members left, but the band still exist, they'll probably recruit new ones.
@25jonathan Agreed! I can safely say people who say their favourite bands are gods have obsessive minds about music. There's a difference between being musically mature and being musically obsessive. If they say they are gods, they will be fundamental, just like religious people and their '' gods '', going against those who don't like it. People who are more mature about music will be more open to listening and judging other kinds of music out there. Obsessions can be just a phase though :P.
@AMartins92 i waited ages to hear someone say that. jeff loomis is a great guitar player, but many people can reach his level of skill with a lot of years of practicing. i already see a lot of dudes ripping it out there. jeff loomis is known because he write great songs
I love this music. Jeff Loomis is one of the best guitarists out there for sure! But I hate it when people say he is a god it's so annoying! Same goes for other amazing bands out there.
every single riff Loomis has ever written is the best metal riff ever written. every single tone Loomis has ever had is the best guitar tone in metal hands down. organic, and hard as fuck, yet clear and cuts through everything. Best metal guitarist of our era, easily.
Great song, but has anyone else noticed the "popping" sound at 3:05? I always think I got some windows message or something when it comes along.
@bce5150 ax0a0xa0x0a0xa0x0a0x0axa
@hahawzz his wife blew jeff loomis away lol
@NorielWong1994 cant take a joke?
I WOULD BE HONNORED IF JEFF LOOMIS WERE TO BE MY FATHER. \m/ -_- \m/ all shall agree!
@TerrorizerGrindspeed I hate you with as much jealousy as a human being can contain. lol
@bce5150 I'm not hating on jeff loomis or anything, he's a big influence to me. but just cause hes better than guitar you dont need to talk like that, it just takes years and yeaars of practice to play like them. you have to practice hard. JEFF LOOMIS IS GOD. nuff said
Never seen any more extreme expression for admiring a musician - but ehm I agree
As if a soul was gone, she spoke from the land beyond...
On this song his voice is more tolerable than on other songs.In general,the song is good,very good.Hails to the rhythm section!
Im wearing my obsidian conspircy shirt I got from their tour last night RIGHT FUCKING NOW!
@bce5150 ROFL
@dwl250 i really want this cd. you almost got what metal is. youre just missing one thing. metal isnt just music its a way of life. ^_^ iced earth said that themselves
okay bce5150 is fucked up who the fuck just says shit like that
@wowla1 SHE IS THE DERANGED!
@dwl250
Amen. After hearing some of Nevermore's old stuff, I think I'm still gonna pick TOC up, but I fell that I'm going to be disappointed. Still good metal, just a little too different, perhaps
@bce5150 Best comment in youtube history
im proud to say this will be my first concert. im 12.
SHE IS THE INFINITE!!
@bce5150
that was like the fucking funniest comment I have ever seen my fucking life. ROFLOLMFAO!!!! +100
@bce5150 Hmm me and a friend were making a joke like that recently about another really awesome shredder. That aside, dude you have a future to think about, start building your legacy now.
@dwl250 damn straight. metal isn't about taking sides, its about rocking your brains out to damn great music. "Oh, they dont sound the same as they did in these great songs". So? this song is still heavy as hell, and it still makes me want to punch the guy next to me then have a drink with him.
@dwl250 HAVE THEY HEARD THE DANM SOLO AND THE PART WHERE IT GOESE LIKE "....SOMETIMES SHE MOVES THE CHAIRS DOWNSTIARS AND RUNS AWAY SOMETIMES SHE MAKES HER SELF KNOWN TO THOSE UNAWAKE"? like really this is metal
Aside from the solos, I feel Jeff Loomis is very underwhelming on this album. Its disappointing, really...I guess you could blame the lack of a second guitarist. But I honestly didn't think they'd be able to top "The Godless Endeavor".
I'm sure this is the fucking album of the year. It's just awesome. Every time i listen to it, i like it more. stop saying "this isn't as good as dreaming neon black or this godless endeavour" because you can't compare nevermore albums. they are all different and very good . anyway i think this album is a masterpiece and the titletrack is my favourite.
This album is fucking amazing. Really reminds me of the Dreaming Neon Black days.
She moves the chairs Downsaaaaiiirrrssss!
@dwl250 doesnt have to have melody to be great.
@goshygosh hell yes he is, definetely should be a favorite of all metal drummers!!
This song's a bitch on drums... and I'm sure on everything else
i bought this album yesterday ! it's awesome !
I bought this CD before I even listened to any songs from it.
And I don't regret.
@bce5150 HAHAHAHAHA ROFLMAO
@bce5150: I lol'd
where u can find the new Nevermore album For FRRRRREEEEEEE ;)
write nevermore "The Obsidian Conspiracy"+torrent on google !D
torrents fucking ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuullllllllzzzzzzzz
@sm0kenmirrhurz92 I definitely picked up on the King Diamond-ish vibe in the lyrics from the start, though I'd only call it a similarity. Warell Dane is a much more sublte storyteller.
The only thing that depresses me about the newer Nevermore albums is that they have gotten less melodic overall. 1:50 is more what I'm talking about.
I guess I just miss The Heart Collector and such.
Am I the only one who gets a King Diamond kind of vibe with the lyrics here? And to a lesser extent the timing...one of the best songs on the new album imo.
Fuck yea mean fast metal riff with slow singing is awesum
ahhh! cant stop listening!!
sometimes she makes herself known to those, UNAWAKE!!
Haunting
@kudurrumaqlu i didnt mean those bands can keep up with the verse i meant to put a comma after Death, saying these bands do songs like this, and when i said " i doubt they be even able to keep up" is to all those fucking retards saying this song is shit
@dwl250 pft then there not metal fans this is not to you but this goes to all those retards bashing this then what about iced earths ballads or dissection? even the great Death fucking i doubt they be even able to keep up with the verse riffs
i want jeff loomis to fuck my wife because his genetic material is superior to mine
@skip2870 dude same for me
@jscottizabeast I don't think so. She definitely wasn't born in 1617. Sound like he is singing about a ghost haunting a building, i.e. moving the chairs downstairs.
@beingjoshmc What?? People are actually bashing this???? Man, I've been a fan since the Sanctuary days, and to my ears they keep getting better, and this is no exception. 'Godless' was a tough act to follow, no doubt, but every track I've heard so far from this album is great. Can't WAIT for it to come out; got the special edition box set on the way!!!
Why I am I hearing so many people bashing on this album? Sorry guys, not every album can be exactly like TGE or EOR! Listen to Dreaming Neon Black or Dead Heart in a Dead World, or if you are a real fan, maybe even In Memory or Politics or Self Titles. Ok, I'll word if differently. Listen to they're whole discography and you will see that this is yet another sick Nevermore album. Sorry if it's not "scene" enough for you!
@jerm26554 Totally agree, it is a mixture of those 2 albums, vocally its a lot more like older albums which is a good thing I reckon, it makes them harder to emulate for other bands, makes Nevermore more unique, it is a grower of an album, its not as immediate as my personal fave This Godless Endeavour or my close second Dead Heart but its a very good album with lots of textures and obscure melodies instrumentally and vocally, its growing on me!
someone upload the lyrics for us the foreigners please !
Joking aside, is this song about Warrel Danes past GF?
God, i HATE IT when people leave the fucking chairs downstairs!
@Roaraxx you are absolutely right. However, she comes in colors got me right from the start, but over time this song has haunted my mind for so long! Killer stuff
DREAMING NEON BLACK
@dwl250 Well said, man. I'm on my way to CM Distro to do just that...."The Obsidian Conspiracy Is Rising..."
After countless listens, this may be my current favorite on the new disc ("She comes in Colors" is a close second right now). I love the complex texture of it - the relatively mellow chanting of the verses over the fast, heavy guitar drum background. Haunting melodies, too. This really kicks serious ass!
I don't understand Metal fans sometimes. It doesn't need to be super fast or technical to still be great metal music. Great singing, melody and incredible guitar is what metal is all about. It's not like NM totally changed their style, they have been around a long time and they have plenty of other songs like these. Be supportive and buy the CD is you are a NM fan. This great music and this great band deserves it. By far the best metal band around and this new music proves it.
This album definitely brings back the psychedelic sensibilities of early NM. I love it. None of that changes the fact that the lyrics to this song are incredibly stupid.
This song WILL grow on you. Most songs on this album won't capture you instantly as well as TGE but give it time. Once this album grows on you, your brain will implode due to it epicness.
it is such a beautiful song !!it is so insane !!! I FUCKING LOVE TIS BAND !! it is full of mysterious harmonies !!!!! !!!!
I think many of these new Nevermore songs sound very good, and if I know Nevermore correctly, they will all grow on us. Maybe not a new Dead Heart... album. Maybe not a new This Godless... album.. But, a new great Nevermore-album!
After I have listened to most of the songa, without the lyrics, there are som lyrics I just love. Like "This is why I hate you" and "As if her soul was dead, she spoke of nothing" is so typical Nevermore, and I just love those lines. They're simple, but great!
