Nelson, Willie - Half A Man Lyrics
If I'd only had one arm to hold you better yet if I had none at all
Then I wouldn't have two arms that ache for you there'd be one less mem'ry to recall
If I'd only had one ear to listen to the lies that you told to me
Then I more closely resemble the half a man that you've made of me
[strings + piano]
For then I more closely resemble the half a man that you've made of me

Nelson, Willie Half A Man Comments
Amazing. Pre-Outlaw, pot smokin' Willie. I dig it.
this song went to #25 on the country charts in 1963!!!
Perhaps Willie's greatest.... brilliant phrasing and song writing skills. A sublime song.
I saw him in Montreal. I Love him so much.
Probably the best writer ever, and for sure the greatest humanitarian have been a Willie fan since first hearing him in early 60s
If there was ever 1 person I would want to meet in my life it would be Willie Nelson it has always been a dream of mine one that probably will never come true but I doubt I could always just see him sitting in our front room jamming with all of us here my brother playing his guitar my husband Tom playing his guitar just so many people were here I would loved it to see him walk in
That phrasing....!!!! Willie!!!!
LOVED THIS SONG FROM THE FIRST TIME I HEARD IT ON A ALBUM
I saw Willie Nelson perform this song at The Longhorn Ranch in Dallas. That had to have been in the early sixties. I had heard this song on the radio, and liked it, I still do.
Longhorn Ballroom?? Never heard of the Longhorn Ranch
I hadn't realized Willie wrote this. He did a great version. Now I know where Ray Price got the song, who did another excellent version of this song. In fact Ray's version is also on You Tube I believe because I uploaded it.
This wonderful song was in the HIT PARADE IN THE YEAR 1963 FOR ALMOST 4
WEEKS, This particular version sang by Willie Nelson...... I do remember in my School
days in Dallas ,Tex. the radio station KBOX !!!!!.. Thanks for posting it Dekkadon !!!

That is how he come up with this song.
He said when he was married to his second wife, Shirley they were in bed and she was laying on his arm.. he was trying to light a cigarette with just the other arm.
Amazing how he came up with some of the ideas for the songs he has written. Wille; simply The Best!
