Nelson, Ricky - Thank You Lord Lyrics

Thank you Lord for lovin' me
For givin' me the chance so I could see
The love that you feel inside for me
You're everything I want you to be
And I thank you, my Lord

Thank you Lord for bein' there
You take me through life and you always care
I think about the times I needed you
You were always there to see me through
And I thank you, my Lord

I want to thank you, my Lord
I want to thank you, my Lord
I want to thank you, my Lord
I want to thank you, my Lord
I want to thank you, my Lord
I want to thank you, my Lord
I want to thank you, my Lord
I want to thank you, my Lord
I want to thank you, Lord

Thank you Lord you're my friend
You give me the strength to start over again
When life becomes hard, no ones seems to care
I reach out for you and you're always there
And I thank you my lord

Thank you Lord for lovin' me
For givin' me the chance so I could see
The love that you feel inside for me
You're everything I want you to be
And I thank you, my Lord

I want to thank you, my Lord
I want to thank you, my Lord
I want to thank you, my Lord
I want to thank you, my Lord
When I'm feelin down and out
And I wonder what life is all about
And when you feel like cryin out
And there's no one left to cry about
I want to thank you, my Lord
I want to thank you, my Lord
I want to thank you, my Lord
I want to thank you, my Lord
I want to thank you, my Lord...

This is a awesome side of a great singer whom I adored❤️

  3. A.... F....

So many performers sang Gospel Songs, including Elvis. I don't think we would ever see that today.

  4. J.... E....

    Rick and Kris beautiful Couple

  5. C.... D....

Ricky was a handsome man but it was his essence of kindness composure and peace that made him exceptional.

"Thank you lord for killing me in a plane crash."

    s.... ....

santyows We can only hope the smoke put them to sleep before any pain from the flames was felt. 😢

Enemy comes to kill, steal, destroy, and deceive others... has dominion of this world. Lord can only give Peace and Life. We are all gunna die someway/somehow/somewhere/sometime/someday... never promised tomorrow... only promised hope when its our time.

This is disgusting. His children read these comments. Shame on you.

Ricky has been my idol since high school and college days with Someday as my first favorite song. Then I came to love everyone of them and a collection of all his albums are still being played now and then, Now I'm retired but my affection for this handsome and adorable man had not deminised with his demise. Such loyalty is just incredidible.

  8. J.... E....

    Ricks spirituals are my favorite

  9. T.... M....

First time I’ve heard this song. It’s great, and so true. Our best friend is our Lord.

  10. J.... E....

God Bless Ricky with a Great Singing Talent. Good singer

  11. T.... p....

Rick was surely a pioneer of country/rock, and he could have been a pioneer in contemporary Christian music with more songs like this one. I wonder if he ever wrote anymore but never recorded or published them. He was talented beyond the public and media recognition he received.

Who's singing that long high note at 3:09? Is that Randy Meisner?

    C.... M....

Randy was no long with Rick when this great album was recorded. It was either Allan Kemp or Tim Cetera on the background you are referring to. Maybe Tracy Nelson can tell us.

    C.... M....

NitroManXoX  Sorry but Randy Meisner did record this album with the Stone Canyon Band. I have this song on a box set and it states Meisner is on the track and others from the album.

  13. T.... T....

Didn't know Ricky made this song. Quite beautiful. He left us far too soon.

  14. B.... ....

I was so in love with Ricky. I never missed a show! He was my dream lover.❤️. So I don't have to dream alone.🎵

  15. C.... R....

What a beautiful side of this extremely talented and kind person... who left us far, far too soon.

no they weren't athiests. they were non-practicing protestants but not athiests. Kris's family was Catholic and he had to go through a big thing before they got married through the catholic church. I like to believe he only went through *THAT* because he had to (or was forced too). Sure wish I would have been around when he was young. He's been one of my favorites for years.

    G.... ....

GrievousAngel78 He later called it a “shot gun” wedding. She was 17 and pregnant with his child. In CA at the time, 17 was under age of consent, so, get married or have a scandal. She got what she had wished for and planned for from age 12 when she first met him. He got trapped.

  17. J.... G....

Great song! I still have the record!

  18. j.... b....

Ricky certainly puts a lot of feeling in this song which is unusual for him. I'd like to believe that he was truly a believer but I've heard rumors that he or at least his father was atheist.

    j.... b....

joe blow I don’t think they ever were atheists. However, I don’t think they were fervent evangelical fundamentalists either. I think this song was done during a time when he was searching for meaning of life in different areas, specifically Eastern philosophies, perhaps, I’m not sure, influenced by his neighbor and friend George Harrison. So, I’m not sure the “Lord” referred to here is a specific reference to Jesus Christ necessarily in the strictest terms. It might be. I personally hope it is. Maybe he kept it generic to make it more relevant to more people—a more Unitarian, inclusive philosophy. But it was also during a time when the whole country was seeking deeper meaning and understanding: I.e. the Jesus movement of the time which reached out to a lot of people in the late 60s-70s. His motives may never be known, but I still appreciate the song as it is: a simple prayer of thanks to God for all He had done in Rick’s life to that point. This may have been a crossroads for him. If so, I wish he had taken the road that might have led him deeper into contemporary Christian music which was still in infancy at that time, and therefore, would not have paid the kind of money he needed. But I think that yearning for more of God, remained in his heart until the end. Sorry to be so long. So intrigued by this song, I’ve given it a lot thought. Rick is forever an enigma: handsome, quietly intelligent (in spite of what some say), superbly talented, and yet so lonely and sad. So much we will never know.

Joe blow - When you consider the fact that Ricky himself sat down and wrote those very words, there shouldn't be a doubt in your mind...The man was a believer. Otherwise he wouldn't have been able to express such religious feelings so well. I never suspected he had those beliefs, being in show business all his life, and I'm sure glad he had such thoughts of gratitude to the Lord.

  19. s.... ....

Not only a great singer, but a great song writer as well

  20. T.... ....

    Thanks for the post.

  21. N.... G....

Merry christmas to you, too, and happy new year. Thank you so much for all the songs and videos of Ricky Nelson. I missed many of his songs when I was younger.

  22. N.... G....

Ricky should have been a great gospel singer like Elvis.
