Neko Case - Middle Cyclone Lyrics
Baby, why'm I worried now,
Did someone make a fool of me
'fore I could show 'em how it's done?
Can't give up actin' tough,
It's all that I'm made of.
To ride the bus to the outskirts
Of the fact that I need love.
There were times that I tried,
One for every glass of water
That I spilled next to the bed,
Wretching pennies in a boiling well
In a dream that it once becomes
A foundry of mute and heavy bells.
They shake me deaf and dumb
'fore I could show 'em how it's done."
It was so clear to me
That it was almost invisible.
I lie across the path waiting,
Just for a chance to be a spiderweb
Trapped in your lashes.
For that, I would trade you my empire for ashes.
But I choke it back, how much I need love...

Neko Case Middle Cyclone Comments
Her vocals are somewhat reminiscent of Kirsty MacColl.
I think this is her best album.
beautiful
My love, I am the speed of sound
I left them motherless, fatherless
Their souls dangling inside-out from their mouths
But it's never enough
I want you
I carved your name across three counties
And ground it in with bloody hides
Their broken necks will line the ditch
'Til you "Stop it! Stop it! Stop this madness!"
I want you
I have waited with a glacier’s patience
Smashed every transformer with every trailer
'Til nothing was standing
Sixty-five miles wide
But still you are nowhere, still you are nowhere
Nowhere in sight
Come out to meet me, run out to meet me
Come into the light
Climb the boxcars to the engine
Through the smoke and to the sky
Your rails have always outrun mine, so I
Picked them up and crashed them down
In a moment close to now
Cause I miss, I miss, I miss, I miss, I miss, I miss, I miss, I miss
How you'd sigh yourself to sleep
When I’d rake the springtime across your sheets
My love, I am the speed of sound
I left them motherless, fatherless
Their souls dangling inside-out from their mouths
But it's never enough
My love, I’m an owl on the sill in the evening
But morning finds you
Still warm and breathing
This tornado loves you
What will make you believe me?
what will make me believe you? stop wrecking my town =]
Wowie ka-fucking-zowie this is a homerun
I can remember the first moment I heard this on WXPN and thinking, YES, FUCK THAT CUNT.
Nothing like an (unnecessarily) overly-nazi-feminist album cover to get me all warm and fuzzy.
girl what
nazi-feminist? honey the feminists are against nazis. you are not speaking english. cease
if that is truly what you get from that cover, you are stupid. you are dumb. don't fucking reply to me, i have nothing nice to say to you, and you won't change my mind.
I thought of this song near the end of "Something Wicked This Way Comes."
1967 Mercury Cougar... sweet!
This tornado is just like all tornadoes: It stalks & bullies trailer parks. I for one am sick of it. Then later it says it loves me. I don't think I believe the tornado when it says that. If it loves me it would not pick up my trailer and bust it over a tree, then fling it on to the highway bridge.
Neko's lyrical perspective is certainly unique - a tornado in love with someone - just, wow. Something I can relate to from both sides of the lyrics.
She said she got the idea from a dream she had of a tornado that asked her to read a book to it since it couldn't hold the book.
Five downvotes, really? I wish they would have the courage to explain themselves
Jesus, I absolutely love Nico's music. But I don't understand why anyone should have to justify why they don't like either the song or the video(or lack of) or any of many other reasons they may have hit the thumb down. Why do you think it's a lack of courage that they don't explain why? I'd suggest you focus on the number of "likes" and not the "dislikes". Your comment gives evidence that you're an angry fella. Are you an angry fella, Jesus?
Let me guess... you were one of the 5.
@Alan Stenglein it's just that they're objectively incorrect. idk what else you want.
vim pelo Bunker do dio
Ethereal voice, storyteller, killer musicians, like nothing else.
so I've been playing a few of miss Cases videos and there is something I'm noticing about them. so many good heartfelt song and so few views. rather sad really. but at least I know I'm amongst good company. cheers to the fellow fans
