Neil Young - Pocahontas Lyrics
Aurora borealis
The icy sky at night
Paddles cut the water
In a long and hurried flight
From the white man
And the homeland
we've never seen.
They killed us in our tepee
And they cut our women down
They might have left some babies
Cryin' on the ground
But the firesticks
and the wagons come
And the night falls
They massacred the buffalo
Kitty corner from the bank
The taxis run across my feet
And my eyes have turned to blanks
In my little box
at the top of the stairs
With my Indian rug
and a pipe to share.
I wish a was a trapper
I would give thousand pelts
To sleep with Pocahontas
And find out how she felt
In the mornin'
on the fields of green
In the homeland
we've never seen.
And maybe Marlon Brando
Will be there by the fire
We'll sit and talk of Hollywood
And the good things there for hire
And the Astrodome
and the first tepee
Marlon Brando, Pocahontas and me
Marlon Brando, Pocahontas and me
Pocahontas.

😆👍💞that's right
The exception that proves the rule that all hippies are useless turds.
i'd love to know everything about this recording.. where it was recorded, who's are the other players and who is singing backup. It's just a spectacular work.
This "rebastardized" version sucks! Stop screwing up music!
Qué majestuosa música y canción cuál es el mensaje.
No me canso de escuchar estas canciones de neil / para mi esa una " power balad"
This Neil guy is gonna get big one day-- just mark my words.
Reckon so, specially if he can buy his own guitar, that is if he hits it big...
Cockeyed Optimist he’s Canadian so it’ll be a long shot... unless he goes down to the US of A.
Absolute perfection.
That "Pochahontas" line at the end man. Gets me every time
Best song.
1024 Cherokee---Marlon Brando, Pocahontas and Me...
How heartbreaking, still going on now, to a kid in a detention center on the border, to tribespeople in the Amazon, at Standing Rock last year.
Being huge fan of Neil, I also like his inspirations...😉 https://youtu.be/r26tdjUG3xU
"I wish I was a trapper, I would give a thousand pelts, to sleep with Pocahontas, and find out how she felt..."
"...Marlon Brando, Pocahontas and me..."
This song has so much more meaning to me now. Knowing that "we" didn't arrive here first. Not by a long shot, and we didn't bring techknowlgy either...
Who Did ?
@yoshoad His name is Nikola Tesla.
... I think!
ELECT elizabeth warren ROFL!!!!! POCOHONTAS...FULL BLOODED CHEROKEE!!!!
That's all you have to say about this song? Really? Why not just say "I'm a troll" and leave it at that?
@nittles61 Ya didn't nit pick at the other stupid comments , why this one?
@nittles61 Why not?
Neil Young is the reason I learned to play guitar. I can never play or sing even close to him, but I can get a little close to him when I do. I had to give up guitar for 5 years due to physical restraints. Just had shoulder surgery, and can now pick up a guitar again. First hour I played all Neil Young songs. I'm home. God I love you, Neil - thanks for all of the magic, for over 50 years.
I ME ME MY
I learned guitar because of Neil Young also
I've been playing guitar since the mid 60s. Lots of NY songs and others. I also broke my shoulder. I had to give up the guitar I played for 40 years. Got a small touring guitar and can play it and tune it too. I have some of my song covers on youtube, plus lots of rescue dog videos.
I used to for a long time as a pizza delivery driver sing along with Neil's music. He was along with me for many a mile. He was my co pilot!
@John Crowe Long may you run!!!
I once stopped my Maths classes to analyse this song in class...
Hands down, the best song ever written about Marlon Brando, Pocahontas and Neil Young.
You haven’t heard the song about Marlon Brando Pocahontas Neil Young and Bo Dudley???
This song is dedicated to Elizabeth Warren.
Yeah, and her grandparents eloped, too.
Quiet, troll.
Every day song on this album is brilliant.
Yes, you are right. For some reason, when I read your comment, Ride My Llama popped into my head and it doesn't seem to want to leave. That's alright though, it's welcome to hang out for a while.
Uncle Neil is my fave Canadian.. after Bobby Orr of course..
Is there no end to this man’s talent?
This falls into the category of 'greatest song people have never heard'.
One of the BEST SONGS ever written , man's a Genius .
Neil Young and Crazy Doing Live Rusts Acoustic Set is Utter Bliss !!
Definitely and when they transition to rock its good too
My favorite album ever
I wish I was a trapper...
This guy was good
IS good!
Still is
and maybe Marlon Brando would be there by the fire, and we'd sit and talk about Hollywood and the good things there for hire, like the Astrodome and the first TV, Marlon Brando Pocahontas and me
I think it's "...the first teepee."
yeah, I know
Pretentious, virtue signaling crap.
go jerk off to more trump rallies or a klan picnic then you fooi
nathan phillips? dat u?
Something about this song always makes me want to pick up a gun/bomb and go out in a shining blaze of glory. Obviously I won't as it won't achieve much but for the oppressed under the yoke of tyranny, I can see why it would be preferable to a slow torturous death.
"Rise like lions after slumber,
Shake your chains to earth like dew,
Which in sleep had fallen on you,
Ye are many, they are few"
Pointless Peasant
Wow dude, that's awesome! 👍
@Gary Simmons
Would love to be able to say I wrote it, but all I can do is to quote Shelley.
@Pointless Pleasant, prefer you didn’t hurt anyone, BUT if you’re hell bent on “going out in a blaze of glory” you might as well take out that stolen valor Nathan Phillips guy, and that faux Native American, Ward Churchill.
Still prefer you just take another bong hit and chill.
Better to burn out?
Classic NEIL, Hollywood, the Astrodome, Marlin Brandi, NEIL, Pocohantus & the 1st Tepee. Poetic & loyal to Native American plights, incl all mankind less Warmongers &/or Monsanto.
I lived in a small town called Las Animas Colo for a while and checked out the Sand Creek Masacure I know the spelling is jacked but thats not the point when I was there this song came to mind made the Sand Creek situation very sad in my mind!!
@Hey_ Joe Sounds like we have a triggered snowflake on our hands here
And as usual, the leftist pos can't refute anything said. Because it's ALL FACTS. You people hate facts.
@Hey_ Joe I have a feeling that no facts either of us have on hand would bring an end to a YouTube comment section argument. Have fun with your childish, irresponsible bigotry though!
Sure we can end it now. ... Once upon a time ALL people did bad things to other people. And neither you nor I owe anyone alive today wealth or prosperity for what a bunch of dead people of ALL races and Religions once did. The End.... All you seem to have are insults. Like any Progressive who denies basic human anatomy and biological science, but demands i agree with them on climate science. BECAUSE IT'S SCIENCE YOU BIGOT !! lololol Keep it outa my eyes Fascist. Nobody's being bullied or guilted into agreeing with you in this comment section. You're outmatched. Go back to moms basement and regroup.
Hey Joe, maybe pause to wonder what it is that make you so eager to discredit any and every protest song—so eager you seek out the YT pages of songs like “Pocohontas” in order to insult the supposed “leftists” who like them. Why squander your obvious intelligence defending an obvious jackass like Trump? What makes someone CHOOSE to be a Republican? And why are Republicans unable—ever—to write a song as searing as ”Pocohonttas?”
Marlon Brando
Nicholas Fillipone we were all a bunch of stoners back in the 70s..had this album on 8 track. marlon brando, pocahontas and me
Pocahontas and me :)
