Neil Young - On The Beach Lyrics
The world is turnin',
I hope it don't turn away,
The world is turnin',
I hope it don't turn away.
All my pictures are fallin'
I placed them yesterday.
The world is turnin',
I hope it don't turn away.
I need a crowd of people,
but I can't face them
day to day,
I need a crowd of people,
but I can't face them
day to day.
are meaningless,
that don't make them
go away.
I need a crowd of people,
but I can't face them
day to day.
I went to the radio interview,
but I ended up alone
at the microphone,
I went to the radio interview,
but I ended up alone
at the microphone.
Now I'm livin'
out here on the beach,
but those seagulls are
still out of reach.
I went to the radio interview,
but I ended up alone
at the microphone.
Get out of town,
think I'll get out of town,
Get out of town,
think I'll get out of town.
I head for the sticks
with my bus and friends,
I follow the road,
though I don't know
where it ends.
Get out of town, get out of town,
think I'll get out of town.
'Cause the world is turnin',
I don't want to
see it turn away.

Brilliant music!
Estate inverno autunno primavera tutte le stagioni con la nostalgia di questa immensa canzone tra sogno e realta' scottante. Neil o della mali conia di vita ed e' tutto.sempre

The greatest album ever.
I Can't believe that is there just 348 thousands views on this date, 12-24-2019
This album is nothing less than brilliant.
i remember buying this album when it came out and it was perfect for the mood those days
Love this whole Lp, and Boz Skaggs does a stellar rendition of On the Beach on his Out Of The Blues cd with Doyle Bramhall II and Charlie Sexton on it as well..
It is my first time experiencing this and Words cannot explain this masterpiece
mike c we are in the gripps of the people
The Dude abides to this one.
Like....hey.
Nash on Wurile
Killer groove too.Deadly beautiful song.
Okay so I found this Neil gem.. And it blew me away. Just wondering if anyone here is a fan and know if he made anything els that sounds like this, tried to listen to top stuff on spotify but nothing even close..

Dio Cristo quanto è bella...
Damn, after that, Bon Dylan or Beatles or anything else means nothing to me...
A low point in his life. A high point in Rock.
The title track of the final album recorded during his dark period following the passing of Danny Whitten is dark...bleak...dispairing...and beautiful...What a gift to be able to turn ones pain into something this beautiful...fantastic song...!
I was 19 years old when this came out.
As to the vocals/ lyrics/ guitar solo, the question is - how did he know?
have this on a loop
Every time I listen to this it gets better and better.

Beautiful song that killer guitar tone I love it this whole album!!
Nobody is going to mention how the drums make the song...holy groove
I don't get it.
Sounds like Radiohead!
Steve sounds like Neil Young
@JohnR88 Neil Young is a lot like Radiohead, actually. He made a few great records and a lot of shit records. This is one of the latter. You NY fan boys would buy his album if the whole album was him farting in the bathtub to a drum track.
Was watching Boz Scaggs music videos and he covered this tune. Learned it was NYs song from the comments. Scaggs did a great cover but the original is haunting.
The best valium song ever
181 empty and misguided people above. Who would take the time to register dislike on something as real and meaningful as this gem
Imagine a collaboration between Neil Young and Pink Floyd. Just let that sink in.
Gilmour would love that. He's a huge NY fan.
The Walkabouts make a great cover in their LP Lost Songs and Rarities
Thank you for this record Neil!
If you dudes love this check out the best songs from George Harrison from you know who no need to mention think for yourself wow great fuzz bass and yellow sub 2 great songs it's all to much and the best ever by him it's only a northern song trippy as shut gets I shit you not you will see no not see but hear well maybe see if you are stoned ha
This is the best song on this album so deep and introspective and the last song long and awesome as well. I hate crowds of assholes but it don't them to away. Uhun
Un temporale ad agosto, non-spiaggia di Tentizzos, spiove. Ed eccola, On the Beach, te la porta direttamente la risacca
winter song .. the movie glass love ... es una exquisita compocision
This was a dark time for Neil and it shows in his music.
Why so many dislikes? Were people expecting Chris Rea? (That's a great song too.) :)
I've shown this album to three of my friends who all have very different music tastes, and all three of them immediately liked it on first lesson. It's those chill, laidback but sad vibes that gets them

So much , so much, can you reflect? ;^)
Richard Emanuel sang such material and he ended taking his life. Most of us don't find desolation in a numbing radio interview. We find our personal desolation in more mundane ways.
Hidden gem
My god, what an amazing album.
My vinyl says promo, not for sale on it too. What a bonus.
Does Not Get More Real than Neil.
I sogni viaggiano lontani su queste note
That's what depression might sound in music. HERE Neil Young turned depression into one of the Fine Arts. Masterpiece.
Bellissima
Stereogum brought me. Played this for the first time in 16 years.
I am in a mood to listen to all Neil Young albums in chronological order..
Let us know if you live long enough!
Underrated track...
Favorite album ever ever ever
This is a flat out masterpiece. Bleak, desolate and achingly beautiful.
I like the way you put that
The world is turning.... I will probably see it turn away.
Love Neil
I don't want to see the world turn away either Neil. I hope it doesn't but I think it might.
My god, what an amazing album.
My vinyl says promo, not for sale on it too. What a bonus.
neils timing in my life has always been spot on right on time. lost a bf to a motorcycle wreck in 74 lots of drama.. i was 17... torada tequila, locks on my door and neil got me centered and i was ok..
Neil and his band are great healers for sure. Always helps me through hard times.
When your feet are in the sand on the shoreline and you feel the tide, the waves rolling off and on, hearing their sound, and you want peace and quietness in your mind.
"Though my problems are meaningless, that don't make them go away."
Why is it so hard for some people to understand that?
Because it's a matter of perspective. Your problems have meaning to you because you attribute meaning to them. The only two ways you can deal with them is to do something about them, or to stop thinking of them as problems. You alone hold the key to your mental and spiritual freedom.
Fuck this shit world of humanoid s I love Gaia but needs reboot of all these robotic followers of shit politics and religion stupid asses I love my planet 200 thousand years of humanoid interrupt shit we are an Alien 👽and farm that falterted bye
@Lucas What you say is absolutly right.... But in this case, it's just what Neil is doing : He knows his problems are meaningless, and he leaves them behind to go forward.... therefore, it don't make them go away. When the key doesn't open the door of freedom... that's the problem. Those seaguls are still out of reach.
aucune ride!
Get out of town Brother .....that's how deal with it when the world is turning ......
This is last level shit!!!! He went super deep on this one and went to the fucking beyond!!!! All day
Boz Scaggs does a fab job of this.
this sucks
@Aydin Matney this is one of Neil s best tracks actually super existential if you even know what that means asshole
You know something? You suck
@Jack Dugan He's an asshole for replying to your stupid ass troll bait comment ? Listen to the voices douchebag!
Compared to your contribution to the world of musicianship ?....
So does your mother
This has been one of my favorite songs from the moment I heard it in 1974. I never get tired of it. Check out the live version from the 1974 CSNY tour.
Does Not Get More Real than Neil.
Yup, there's no flies on that boy.....
liked to get really stoned on stage but still delivered decent performances
saw him when i was only a kid,,,,,,london ....rainbow. bootlegged the gig.
songs from tonights the night...............record company pulled the album..........................released at a latter date.
I think its his best guitar solo
Certainly one of his most melodic - very soulful.
Better than Cortez?

"All my pictures are fallin' from the wall where I placed them yesterday" Something like that happened to me recently.
Adoro...
J'adore
Masterpiece.
you could write a great song just by using the title of Neil Young songs
words, eh
Beautifulllll
After he lost Danny ......they got all fucked up for 2 weeks and made this album . Everyone had sunglasses on .
I bought this album back in 1974 when I was just
12 years old. I live in Zandvoort close to the beach and a boulevard.
Ik luister nu op de bank in Brasil,me zusje had een Jaz cafe op een pleintje waar Wibo van der Linden elke zondag speelde ...zo rond 1977 , terug naar de jaren 60 ,70 80 gouden tijd wat muziek betreft. Cheers
We are of the same age then
Prodigy!!!
you lucky guy^
I was 12 years old in 1974 as well. I had heard Heart of Gold because it was popular on the AM radio. About that same time. I saw Neil perform Like a Hurricane on The Midnight Special, was quite enthralled
I just don't know what to say...
🇨🇮🇨🇦♥️🔊
"I went to the radio interview and I ended up alone at the microphone. Now I'm living out here on the beach but those seagulls are still out of reach". Songwriting at its finest. I'm in sheer awe of Neil Young's finesse on this track. One of the greatest musicians of all time.
The very best!!! We are so blessed to have these songs to soothe our minds!!! So much unrest in our world!! God help us all!!!!! Thanks Neil Young!!!!
sums up feeling lonely and disconnected from people so well
Ha, crazy, I got to your comment the exact same time he started singing it!
Destruiu
who gives this a thumbs down..?!
Someone with a broken hand.
or more likely.... a broken soul.
I’m not exaggerating when I say that in my eyes, this is the best song ever written.
My God, it's awful! It sounds like the first song someone would write who just got their first guitar and learned the first few chords!
Steve lol
Ive been listening everyday
how about your ears? ... :) yeah, this is a GREAT album... Ditch Trilogy
That bass line! RIghteous tune for sure!
Vinyl valium
"I need a crowd a peeps I can't face from day to day". One of those rhetorical verses. can't reach those seagulls. Get out a town. I think I'll just split, head up Big Sur. Ice Tea , Chaise Lounge.
Right, as long as you have a pickup to pack all that stuff in :-)
Very good album. The last time I saw Neil was at Red Rocks with Promise of the real 7-8-15. A freak COLD rain that day. Neil and Promise did Vampire Blues and Revolution Blues which are on the same album. Neil is the best!
Title Track From His Best And A Criminally Underrated Album.
In the real fans eyes I think this is top 3 if not his best. Probably my fav ever
On The Beach is one of the greatest albums ever written.
His lyrics tell a complete story of major thought and process incredible
My fave NY record
Right! This has to be one of my top ten favorite albums ever.
Hidden gem
"The world is turning. I hope it don't turn away." What scary thought. This song made worry about Neil. You can't help but feel what he's going through. His voice is so emotive. He sounds like he is done on this song. "Though my problems are meaningless. That don't make them go away." This song should come with a prescription for Prozac.
IDavid ....this record happened after Danny Whitten died and Neil and all the guys were totally bummed out . They all got together and got all fucked up for a couple of weeks and this is the result .
This is why it's so beautiful though. And we all can relate in some way. I hope all of you find peace in this the same way that they too found solace
@Randall Polk that was tonight's the night. Almost as good. This was a year later.
There is great beauty in tragedy. To love is life and love is much like a bottomless well. There is always more depth to attain, the deeper you go the more you are engulfed by darkness, where your deepest feelings and connections reside. Neil channels his darkness to perfection
Neil is just chilling......a shot of vit. D.
My new favorite Neil Young song
" I guess you guys aren't ready for that yet, but your kids are gonna love it " an oldie but a goodie
Nick Cave sent me here.
My comment of 'same' just meant Nick Cave also sent me to this track by N Young. I do go out, I actually live in Brighton, the same city as Cave and see him now and then wandering about. #dude But thanks for the advice. @Al Got Rhythm
I’m driving my car down to Geneva...
me too . ♥
@widM exactely what I thought ... ♥
check out the movie soundtrack to The Propostion and a rendition of the song Peggy Gordon great flick where Nick cave came to my attention
Harvest and after the gold rush, and some crazy horse was always my go to Young record. But holy shit, the title track on the beach might be my new favorite NY song. So good. Neil playing the blues is so perfect.
This is my first time hearing this and my goodness this is some heady get down shit
Mike D 100 thumbs up!!
