This entire album is an acid trip. I know , I listened and sang and played the guitar to it , trippin. And when you are ' electric ' and ' plugged in ' and listen to these songs on this album , the lyrics to the songs , like ' Lost In Space ' and " The Old Homestead " , you shake your head and say " Ol' Neil was trippin' when he wrote this album , he had to be."
He wasn't trippin on acid cuz a doctor once told him never to do it because he might never come back. So he never tried.
too bad.... no politics.... i read this was wrote about David Crosby and the death of his girlfriend
The Stephen Stills song 'Do for the Others' is about Crosby's girlfriend who died, that I know.

i have been analyzing all of Neil's albums as a hobby the last year and i agree with you..This is right on par with "Harvest"..it's an incredible album..amazing it's so over looked
great album that most don't know exhists , . . . unless your a diehard Neil Young fan , . . . as the years pass, he just gets better and better , if you don't believe me , listen to the full album Le- Noise on this very you tube account , by himself , in his church house , loud , epic, the best ever produced thanx to Daniel lanois, a sound engineering master of the greatest caliber , matching Neils talent , its simply amazing , and my second favorite is Deadman soundtrack , . .
Yesterday I had a tab of acid and sat in my friend's kitchen listening to this song for about twenty years. It was the finest twenty I ever spent.
I ate some mushrooms while sitting in a beautiful river. I freaked out and walked down river to my camper van where I laid down and listened to about half this album and then i felt fantastic and wondered back into the world. it was glorious.
