I don't know if Neil did but after reading his books and hearing his music I think he did. Either way he influenced me in that way. I gave my old car a name. when I was 11 I watched my Dad kill my Mom and then himself. In those days there was no therapy or help. You just had to find a way to accept it and find sleep in side yourself. This song brings tears to me, but somehow healing tears.

And had to live w/an extremely mentally & physically abusive alcoholic father. Back in those days, there was no one to help you because if you reached out to someone they told him. Then you were in worse trouble. So you just cried yourself to sleep. Hope you have found peace, Keith.

What a beautiful timeless album. I remember when it came out so vividly. I went out the day it was released and snatched it up. It became a part of me the moment I heard the first chord struck. This is Neil Young's 27th album and he still sounds so fresh and new... What a legend!

I went to see the neil young film and heard this song there for the first time. I just cried through this song..I don't know why but it makes me think of my Nan, (passed now) I think the lyric "it's only a dream and its fading now, fading away just a memory without any place to stay." suggests a passing from this fragile life.   Its only a dream.

It's a cry song for sure.  Had this at my beloved father's funeral.  Makes me cry everytime I listen to it - I love it.

Im 16. Neil Young and other classics were a big part of my child hood thanks to my Mom and Dad. My mom passed away about a year ago and this song was played at her funeral. I miss her dearly but i'm very thankful I have this music to comfort me and help me through it.

My dad passed a year ago this past Jan from a brain tumor. While he was in the hospital music was his comfort and this is one of the songs he asked us to play alot it makes me cry everytime I listen to it..

Check the math, Prairie Wind, the album It's a Dream is from was released September 27, 2005. Runnin Down a Dream from Full Moon Fever was released on April 24, 1989. Not quite your 12 years difference.

Feel asleep watching SNL so it continued to play old episodes from ON DEMAND. Had a very WEIRD dream but this song was playing and I remember while this dream is happening THIS SONG is going on. Dental -- I had a dear friend who use those words time and again. I never thought to much about it until one day I found her in her home and she had taken her life. It's been the hardest two years of my life trying to understand why I didn't see the signs more clear. I can only hope she found what she was looking for and the peace she couldn't find here.

I just saw post tenebras lux too . . . had to come and listen . . . the movie has had a rejuvenating impact on me, especially at this hard time in my life. 

What about the movie? Could you understand it? Was it all just a dream? I enjoyed everything about it except that, when it ended, I was left baffled.

Nothing really. I guess there are multiple ways to interpret it. Maybe this song's a clue. Was it all a dream? It sure was as crazy as a dream. A lot of today's art films end up with the story having been experienced through the mind of a central character who's mentally unbalanced.

At least you were able to make something of what it was all about. I enjoyed every minute of the film but putting it all together was beyond me. At first, I thought it was a 3D movie and was wishing I'd bought some glasses! The rural setting sure showed off the beauty of Mexico, and it was a change from the drug war theme their films often focus on.
