Neil Young - Girl From The North Country Lyrics
If you're traveling in the north country fair
Where the winds hits heavy on the borderline
Remember me to one who lives there
'Cause she once was a true love of mine
When the rivers freeze and the summer ends
Please see for me she has a coat so warm
To keep her from the howling wind
Please see for me if her hair hangs long
If it rolls and flows all down her breasts
Please see for me if her hair's hanging long
That's the way I remember her best
I'm a-wondering if she remembers me at all
In the darkness of my night
In the brightness of my day
If you're traveling in the north country fair
Where the winds hits heavy on the borderline
Remember me to one who lives there
'Cause she once was a true love of mine

superman in the phonebooth!
One of the true masters . Let it out, let it in Neil.
I am also a ranger of the north who knows my plants. I've tried to do as much for Frodo here as possible, but really its beyond my skills to heal. He needs help.
...and I have claws and teeth and I'm an apex predator. I come from the forest. I stalk my prey. I watched you a long time Neil, and have waited for this moment since you've finally started to slow down to....
What, you are not liking Tibetan nun/Auschwitz victim look?
Cougars have nice coats, don't they? Long tales too.
I like how phone booth like this recording studio is. Very auspicious. Do you listen as well as talk?
this whole album is so kick ass I've learned a few songs I never knew from it I bet that was one of his intentions when making it. whatever it was it rocks
OMG Wow real life A man who has kept true to The heart of music
great hobo song (migrant free will worker)
The picture is of Bob with Suze Rotolo, but the song is actually about Echo Helstrom, his earlier girlfriend back in Hibbing Minnesota.
Uncle Neil Young..long live..love you.
Amazing!!!! ✌️
Neil cantando Dylan? Mesmo com esse som de caixa de papelão, é Neil cantando Dylan, como não ouvir e ficar feliz?
oh let me count the reasons I love neil young......
0ne. he is good. two. refer to one
it's a portable recording studio....Neil Young....priceless
if neil, put a song down to the sound of the bog flushing , it would still sound better , than this crap that is bought out today ...long may he run
I guess he liked the acoustics ... so do I !
This yearning, lonely song moves me in indescribably ways.......I love Neil's voice and guitar on it. Just love it for all time, I'm sure. Thnx to Robert Z. of course too................
are the chords he's using Em, C, and G?
I still love you
How I get in this tiny booth with neil?
All people lobed this......
It was o u r generation.....
Hannelore Antes
Sorry... I mean ,loved'
Thanks Neil for great music inspiration great times of the campfire
I gave this a dislike (which I hardly ever do on any video) but I really didn't like it - and I won't hide in the bushes about it like many others who click on the thumbs down option.
The reason why I dislike it is because I heard 6 other versions of this song and I actually liked each in their own way ( Bob Dylan, Pete Townshend, Robert Plant, Eddie Vedder, Johnny Cash, Keith Richards) then I come to Neil Young's version here ... and it sounds just like same old Neil. Same old guitar chords for any song and his basic 'scrubbing' of his guitar strings, same old riffs on his harmonica, same old ... Neil Old.
I used to love lots of Neil Young's stuff ... but it's become like 'yeah, heard that one before'
Unfair words. .I dont agree with you at all.
This has got to be Jack Whites' music booth from his record store....Neil is never afraid to try new methods - I think it's cool. I think he's cool.
Sound system sounds like Dylan Gaslight recordings. Not this particular song, just the rough sound.
Put Neil in a sound proof box and he breaks the sound barrier !!! This is too cool !!
many people have cut this song of Dylan's & well,,,I'VE NEVER HEARD COVER! ha!! (i do think the Crowes do the best one though!)
(insert "a bad" after heard,,,dang spell check munskins struck again!)
If you can sound that good on such An antique wax drum recorder you know you're one of the greatest.

Like a coffin.
Dylan is one of my fav but Neil CLASS
it was recorded in the elevator?
I was joking, it looks like
Looks like jake whites place
Superplum Crazy71 it is
Fuckin love it man!!!
Man, people criticizing Neil Young's projects...I don't care if the dude decided to put a 1950's phone book to music, I'd probably check it out. As others have said, Neil Young and Dylan have long ago "paid" their songwriting dues and can do just about anything they want by this point, especially any and all pet projects they want to do (like Neil's Greendale years back).
When Neil decides to do something, he goes all-in. Good or bad, he's in. Call it indulgence, but he's earned the right. My friend criticized me by saying I'm buy a Neil Young album of him squealing, and I replied that I would, if it was a double album!
JA Sev anyone who criticises Neil can blow it out their ass
JA Sev amen bro! The 2 greatest songwriters of all time (Van Morrison in 3rd for me).
Well, if the 50s phone book was with the Shocking Pinks, it’d be an extra bonus.
Well said, my dude! <3
One of my very favorite songs-brave to play it , Dylan & Cash do it pretty frigging good, I guess Neil likes it too.
I Thought it was a time lord's Tardis ,then realized Eye was right . Would love to know who the lucky north country chick-hennie is .. Great job Neil = ) = )
I love that vintage sound
When I first started watching, I thought "who is this joker in the closet? He sucks!" Until five seconds after when I realized it was the man himself, and I said "this is awesome!"
Perceptions.
Why didnt people like this? I totally loved...
Oh come on... Still? Ok nevermind you are right, everything you say is true.
That's right you fucking clown
@Ahmet Berkay Ezgü I don't think you were talking to the real Wittgenstein...
What ever he picks up he owns, must be nice.
Cool Neil, I gotta get me one of those phone booths..still takes a dime eh?
I dig this, as a youtube video. really weird that this was put out as an album though
nice!!!
Geez Neil, why do you put out stuff like this. I know you can do this Bob Dylan song a whole lot better than this.
+William DeCoster You just don't get it, He did this on a whim... Bob would love this!
Yeah, Neil. The eternal sea. Ride that wave.
They had to bend the guitar to get it in that closet.
+David Evans lol
Great cover, but geeze. Was this recorded with a Tomato or something? Haha.
+GoonOnFire The whole album this is on is a lo-fi record that was recorded for record store day.
+Boris B
That was the point of the album, recording it in one of those old vinyl booths.
He went in with the intentions of making this lo-fi
Olle people ain't got a clue, lol, I think it belongs to jack white!! Awesome sound
GoonOnFire do your research
Go to Nashville. Pay the $15 and record yourself in there. I did and it was awesome.
"KEEP ON ROCK'N IN THE FREE WORLD". Right!
Waylon Jennings also does a great version of this classic hit.
That contraption he is in is how you recorded a song for yourself or love...once upon a time...
For Ryan Larson, You poor thing, far be it from me to "critique", but maybe you need to do a little more study and live a little more life (or maybe get one )......
of all people, john waite does a very good version of this..two versions, as it happens..one is traditional, the other a bit quicker tempo..pete townshend's cover is good, too.
dylan and young are very alike..average guitar strummers...mediocre, yet distinctive singers....strong, lasting social opinions...similar ages...wrote vast numbers of songs, some classics ...similar harp style...enduring...still popular...enigmatic...reclusive
@Willie Finn Anyone familiar with all Dylan's early recordings cannot honestly or realistically describe him as an "average guitar strummer" - there are many recordings that demonstrate his prowess as a finger-style player of considerable ability. He also demonstrated his skills as a proficient blues player with an uncanny knack of copying other players' styles but also developing his own unique style that influenced a generation. As for being a mediocre singer - the art of singing (and especially singing folk songs) is very much rooted in the ability to hold the listener's attention via the medium of melody and rhyme, and often conveying a story-line too. I love Sinatra and Caruso, but give me Dylan over the likes of Pat Boone any day of the week!
@***** Neil can play guitar. He's not always correct. Yesterday I think that I saw Danger Bird flying in a group.
@nation harris , he had the opportunity for a while.
@ozarkcacti have a good day.
+Gabe Thornes Bob Dylan's bootleg concerts in the 60s rock as hard as any neil young IMO, but yes neil covers more stiles.
Neil used Jack White's Recording Booth on the Conan O'Brian Show ~ was this that performance?
Is this how it feels when the stars align? Neil, my hero, doing a Dylan classic! Props to Jon Lyndon, a visionary viewpoint, my man
Wonderful!
You can't go wrong with this one.
Love this song, Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash did a great duo with this one, thanks Shakey...keep on Rockin'!!!
Neil is timeless. Uses tunes and words we can all relate to. Such a gift he has for us!
I hear Neil Young since he was a child. Wonderful hear it now. Neil Young forever! Thanks from Brazil.
Oh yeah
I just love this old man...
jack white?
Yes, somehow they are both involved with this on site recording booth. Its really cool.
@John Bruce
jack black owns it, Neil borrowed it
@whatiswhatwillbe Bob dylan owns it. fool...
pfft...
Jack White helps produce Neil's records.
really nice
Cool stuff. Neil on the youTube
one of my favourite Bob Dylan songs
aidan rynne
Sounds like he decided to use the harp solos from heart of gold on this track.
Beautiful.
thanks Neil for the great music.
This brightens everybody's day :-)
I love it! One songwriting genius covers another (with the same tools). You are forever Young, Neil!
Ye I think the is the best ..
Creative & brilliant !
