Neil Young - Computer Cowboy Lyrics

Well, his cattle each have numbers
And they all eat in a line
When he turns the floodlights
on each night
Of course the herd looks perfect!
Computer Cowboy.

Well, he rides
the range 'til midnight
And the wild coyotes yowl
As he trots
beneath the floodlights
And of course
the rhythm is perfect!
Computer Cowboy.

Ride along computer cowboy
To the city just in time
To bring another system down
And leave your alias behind:
Computer syscrusher.

Computer syscrusher.

Crusher. Syscrusher.

Syscrusher.

Come a ky ky yippee yi yippee yi ay

Come a ky ky yippee yi ay.

Come a ky ky yippee yi yippee yi ay

Come a ky ky yippee yi ay.

Computer syscrusher.

    A Kraftwerk album, almost..

Sounds like ghost riders in the sky!

I am baffled that anyone can defend this album, I mean the quality of the drumming here alone is so bad I can't believe a producer let it out of the studio, straight up mistakes that even a teen band wouldn't be able to get away with lol

    S.... ....

Mistakes are a crucial aspect of all serious art.

    S.... ....

Wasn't he giving the bird to his management for saying he wasn't commercial enough?
Have to say I hardly ever hear drums, they usually seem completely superfluous to me.
    My daughter's boyfriend is a drummer :-(

    S.... ....

Bad, or in this case "human", drums are meant to stand out in contrast to the automated rhythm of other songs on the album.

This may not be my favorite Neil Young album by any means, but there a few stand out tracks on it, plus the reasoning behind this album in particular owns to part of why I like it. This album had a lot to do with his being able to communicate with his son Ben, because of his having cerebral palsy. So it's about these different ways of communication, especially by electronic means. I also happen to love a lot of the technology he uses on this album, and sure if this was the style I was going for I'd just stick on a Kraftwerk, Neu, or other album of that sort, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy this album for what it's trying to communicate, and again, it has what I think are a a couple of really great tracks.

Thanks to David Browne and his CSN&Y biography and to YouTube for having the songs listed in his book. Cheers!

Trans was my first Neil Young album. I was, and still am, amazed and entertained by it. None of his electronic work takes anything away from his other work.
